Chereads / The Thorne of Destiny / Chapter 54 - Vyre

Chapter 54 - Vyre

Adrian concluded his preparations with the success of the Slumberseed potion. There wasn't much else he could prepare now.

After informing the kids that he would be going out to the mountains to train again, he set off once again for the Misty mountains.

When he reached the entrance of the mountain range a few days later, he was astounded to find the number of individuals camped outside. What used to be a small group of people casually relaxing outside and waiting for their teammates now turned into a stream of stern faces as they prepared for the ensuing battle.

Multiple groups could be seen coming out of the fog with varying degrees of injuries.

Disciples of multiple sects could be seen entering in small groups. Various shouts could be heard as rogue cultivators, who usually preferred working alone were forming groups in order to maximize their chances.

Adrian contemplated on whether to join a group but soon gave up after a brief thought.

First of all, most of the individuals here were at the Golden core formation realm with only a scarce few at the formation establishment realm.

Qi condensation realm experts couldn't even be found. This situation was too dangerous for them. No one would want him in their team as he wasn't exactly what someone would call a powerhouse.

Moreover, he wanted to keep his interactions with people to a bare minimum. If he joined a group and his actual prowess was witnessed, they could start making wierd assumptions.

Adrian quickly made his way through the crowd and slipped into the fog under the gazes of many. Most were surprised at his actions while others snickered disdainfully.

Many thought he was crazy and just going to throw his life away. Others thought that he was just a messenger going to deliver something or pass on a message.

It's a bit funny to think that Adrian's actions of trying to be low-key was what actually ended up drawing attention to him the most.

Adrian ran through the fog with his new movement technique. His speed far different from before enabled him to avoid the low level beasts. With the added stealth benefits, he was basically a ghost in the fog.

He nimbly avoided multiple packs of beasts as he made his way further into the mountains. After travelling for a whole day, he decided to rest on a solitary mountain peak he found. Because he had to be careful and avoid the beasts, he hadn't made much progress.

Adrian moved silently through the dense, shrouded forest of the Misty Mountains' outer regions. He was approaching the mountain peak with great caution. He knew that such a mountain, even though it seemed empty was probably the furthest from the truth.

The air here was thick with dampness, a cold mist clinging to his skin and clothes. Each step was a calculated risk; even the softest crunch of a twig could alert predators. However, even with all his precautions, he still couldn't avoid danger.

In the shadows stood a creature that he had never seen before. A feline covered in black fur was staring at him through the woods with a sharp glint in its eyes.

It was just about to go hunting when it's dinner delivered itself to its doorstep. It hadn't sensed Adrian's aura but from the puny size of the creature, it clearly didn't seem strong.

Well, compared to it's massive two meter tall frame, Adrian did seem puny. It had complete confidence in its rank 3 strength and had already sentenced Adrian to death in its mind.

In a manor far away for Stonehold City, an old man with a long beard was holding a letter. His eyes filled with deep knowledge, seemed to be able to discern even the slightest details. His whole figure exuded a majestic but slightly toxic aura.

Anyone with a weak heart would be involuntarily gripped with fear of they were to be in his presence. Yet this aura seemed to have no effect on thebeautiful young woman standing in front of him.

Her purple hair shone with a brilliance that seemed almost unnatural, as if it had been spun from the twilight itself. When she moved, it shimmered like liquid starlight, drawing the gaze of anyone nearby, as though it carried a secret power hidden beneath its vibrant hues.

Her deep hazel eyes exuded a cold brilliance that seemed to deter any being unworthy of being in her presence from even stepping in front of her.

"We just received news from Stonehold City. Apparently, this beast tide seems much more problematic than we initially thought it was. Even those maniacs are getting involved."

The old man said with a sigh that denoted his tiredness. He seemed as if he was tired of all this bullshit and just wanted to take a nap.

"Well, it seems I have to make a trip to Stonehold City. I happen to be lacking some ingredients anyways."

The young woman's melodious voice responded in the room.

The old man raised an eyebrow in surprise and said.

"I didn't think you'd be so interested. So that's why you decided to visit this old man today huh. I almost thought you missed me. What a shame."

Even though his words sounded harsh, the playfulness in his tone could be heard distinctly. It was clear that he didn't really mean his words.

"Hmph, maybe if you started doing your duty instead of delegating it all to me, I would actually care about you."

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have a trip to plan."

Without waiting for the old man's response, she walked out in graceful steps.

If an outsider were to witness this scene, their eyes would have bulged out of their heads in shock. This was because the old man wasn't just any random individual, but the patriarch of the Vyre family, One of the very few heavenly immortal experts on the continent, Maximus Vyre.

He simply glanced at the young woman before muttering under his breath with a helpless smile.

" She's becoming more and more like her mother."
