Chapter 55 - Deborah's Failed attempt to Sacrifice Richard.

Day by day, Henry continued to observe Deborah through his mirror. After the mayor's acceptance of the plan, Deborah sets a date, inviting all those with vampire blood to the facility for a day of redemption. This event would mark the day Henry would be sacrificed, with each attending vampire taking a vial of his blood to rejuvenate their systems and transform into Daylight Vampires. As the date approached, Henry and Tamara devised a plan: on that day, Tamara would intervene to save Richard. When the day arrived, the hall was filled with vampires, including the mayor and other prominent vampire politicians. It was a dark, rainy day, and the hall was brightly lit with burning lights, warming the atmosphere. Richard was tied up above a shadow well, designed to collect his blood. As everyone gathered, Deborah stepped forward, with Sophie handing her a ceremonial knife. Deborah addressed the crowd, declaring, "Today is a day of redemption for every vampire. With his blood in our systems, we shall all become Daylight Vampires. This is a great sacrifice from someone who will become a legend. Richard, she pointed at him, "your name will be immortalized, and you will be remembered for this great sacrifice. As Deborah approached Richard, fear gripped him. Elena was present but powerless to intervene. Just as Deborah prepared to stab Richard, Tamara suddenly appeared in the middle of the scene with a swift movement. She launched herself at Deborah with a powerful kick, knocking her aside. In one fluid motion, Tamara drew her sword, severed the chains binding Richard, and jumped him out of the well. Elena, seeing the chaos, rushed to join them before the portal closed. The scene was one of utter shock for the vampires present. Anger filled Deborah's eyes as she exclaimed, "Look at her! The traitor has struck again, interrupting a ritual that would bring redemption to us all. Turning to Mr. Frank, the mayor, insisted," We must take action against Tamara. The mayor replied," No problem. I will declare her and Richard wanted. With that, the meeting was dismissed, leaving everyone dissatisfied. As Mr Frank and Maria walked towards their car, their guards remained outside the facility. Just then, Mr. Bernard, a high-ranking politician turned vampire, stepped closer to Mr. Frank. His eyes glinted with a mix of curiosity and disdain."What kind of father are you, Bernard whispered, his voice low and dripping with sarcasm, "intent on sacrificing your own son just for power? Mr. Frank turned sharply, a flash of anger crossing his face. "Mind your own business, Bernard," he snapped, his tone icy. Bernard smirked, unbothered by the rebuke. "I'm just saying," he replied casually before walking away, leaving Mr. Frank fuming. Maria glanced at her husband, concern etched on her face."Don't let him get to you," she said, her voice soothing."Let's just get home," Mr. Frank replied tersely as they entered the car. The engine roared to life, and they drove off into the stormy night, the tension lingering in the air. Meanwhile, in the ancient Wizard Vampire Temple, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation and fear. Tamara, Richard, and Elena emerged from the portal, their hearts racing from the escape. The sight before them was both magnificent and terrifying—a vast chamber filled with arcane symbols and dim, flickering lights. Where are we? Richard asked, bewildered."In a safe place, Tamara replied, her voice steady despite the chaos they had just left behind. "Follow me." She led them deeper into the temple, Richard and Elena trailing behind, their minds racing with questions. They finally arrived at a central chamber, where Henry stood, watching everything through his mirror. He turned as they entered, his expression one of welcome mixed with urgency."You're safe now," Henry said, a hint of relief in his voice as he addressed Richard. "Come here." He gestured for Richard to approach, his smile both comforting and enigmatic. Richard stepped closer, glancing at the mirror where he could still see the remnants of the chaos they had escaped. "You were watching us?  "He asked, a mix of gratitude and suspicion in his tone. Henry nodded, his gaze unwavering. "Yes, and now I have something important to show you." He placed a reassuring hand on Richard's shoulder. "Come." Tamara and Elena exchanged wary glances as they watched Henry lead Richard into an inner chamber, their curiosity piqued. Inside, Richard was confronted by the great ancient Vampire Wizard, a creature of immense power and wisdom, cloaked in shadows that danced around him like living entities. The air crackled with energy, and Richard felt a chill run down his spine as he stepped forward, his heart fast beating in his chest. Do not be afraid, the wizard said, his voice deep and resonant. The time to end the nightmare had come. Step closer. Richard hesitated, a mix of fear and curiosity flooding his mind, but he forced himself to approach. With each step, the weight of the situation bore down on him. As he reached the wizard, the ancient being extended a hand, a gentle yet commanding gesture that beckoned him forward. The wizard touched Richard's chest, and a shimmering, light blue orb emerged from his body, pulsating with energy. It hovered in the air for a moment before the wizard took it in his hand and looked at Richard with a solemn expression. This essence contains the remnants of your humanity, he explained, his eyes piercing into Richard's soul. "It must be returned to you. With a swift motion, the wizard pressed the orb back into Richard's chest. Richard gasped as a surge of warmth flooded his being, rekindling feelings long buried."After today," the wizard continued, you will hand yourself over to them. When the knife strikes your chest, everything will change drastically. Your sacrifice will not only free you but will also reverse the curse that binds all vampires. Richard swallowed hard, the weight of the wizard's words settling heavily on him. "What will happen to us? He asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty. The wizard's expression softened. Those who are vampires will return to being human, but understand this: the transformation will not be without its consequences. Wealth may vanish, love may dissolve. You must navigate this new reality alone." Richard's mind raced. "But, what about my father? Will he suffer too? The wizard glanced at Henry, who stood silently behind Richard, absorbing every word. "Your father's choices are his own. He sought power above all, even at the cost of his own flesh and blood. His sacrifice will reflect the nature of his heart. Richard's eyes widened at the implication. The thought of being at odds with his own father weighed heavily on him, but deep down, he knew he had to break the cycle of darkness that plagued his family."I understand," Richard said finally, determination seeping into his voice. "I will do what needs to be done." The wizard nodded approvingly. "Good. Remember, the power of your choice lies within you. Embrace it, for only through sacrifice can true freedom be attained. Henry, who had been silent throughout the exchange, stepped forward. "Thank you for your generosity," he said, bowing deeply. The ancient wizard nodded, a flicker of approval in his ancient eyes."You may all now leave," the wizard said, gesturing toward the exit. As they turned to go, Richard felt a strange sense of clarity washing over him. He was ready to confront his fate, ready to reclaim not just his own humanity but also to challenge the darkness that his father had embraced for far too long. As they stepped out of the chamber, Tamara's eager face greeted them, her eyes bright with curiosity. "What happened there? she asked, stepping closer. Henry glanced at Richard before answering, his voice low. "It's time for us to prepare. The day of redemption is upon us, and it will change everything.

On the other hand, back in Uptown. After Tamara's interference, the Mayor summoned the security team into his office. Deborah had provided a picture of Tamara, which the Mayor now held in his hands. He turned to the officers with a serious expression. "Make this public," he commanded, handing over the pictures of both Richard and Tamara. "We are declaring them wanted. Anywhere they are seen around Uptown or beyond, alert the security immediately." The Commissioner for Security in Uptown saluted and quickly exited the office, his mind racing with the urgency of the situation. Meanwhile, Mrs Charlton was at home, busily preparing dinner for her family. As they sat down at the dining table, she glanced at the TV, where a press conference was airing with the pictures of Tamara and Richard prominently displayed. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed, her heart dropping. "What is going on? Why is Tamara wanted by the police? She quickly grabbed her phone and tried to call Tamara, but the call wouldn't go through. Panic set in as she realized that Tamara wasn't in their neighborhood; she was currently in the Great Wizard's Temple. As the call can't connect.  Mrs Charlton's worry deepened, but she forced herself to turn back to her family and continued dishing out their meal. On the other hand, Richard and Elena were together, engaged in a serious conversation. Henry and Tamara exchanged glances, and Henry spoke up, "The Great Wizard said he would surrender himself to them. The sacrifice will take place soon. He did something magical to himself. When the knife strikes him, everything will change. He caught Tamara's eyes, and as she looked back, Richard turned to Elena. "The Great Wizard said that after the knife strikes me, everything will change, and we will become human again. But it might not be perfect." Elena frowned, trying to grasp the implications. "What do you mean? Richard hesitated for a moment, then replied, "I mean, if we're in love now, when we become human again, we might not feel the same way. A mixture of concern and a hesitant smile crossed Elena's face. She moved closer to Richard, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. When that time comes, we will figure it out together. Richard nodded, his smile reflecting the optimism in the room. "Yes, we will figure it out, he echoed. Slowly Richard and Elena leaned in and kissed, a moment of sweet tenderness shared between them. Tamara smiled at the sight, turning her gaze toward Henry, who also wore a proud smile. As the moment lingered, Henry made a sound to draw them back, and they all laughed, the tension momentarily lifted.
