"I must admit but both Shawn and lady Solara have bad sense of naming just like me. I can't imagine what I would've called this game if I was the one who created it either." Ethan stated as he manifested his lightning lexicon in a special room Solara had granted her. He put his hand right inside the book and drew out the small stone tablet with the lightning dragon sigil meant to open the World of the Third Incarnate.
"Here we go, open!" Ethan commanded and suddenly the portal opened but this time it seemed a little bit different as a dark cloud had cloaked the edges of the portal. "Time to head in." Ethan said and walked into the portal.
Upon entering Ethan was shocked to see what was inside as he didn't take time to observe carefully the first time he had ventured into it. "Although they said they created it out of he knowledge they got from a novel they had been reading, this is like a whole new world on its own." Ethan marvelled at the sight of the new world. "In novels, what was this place in even called... Umm. That's really hard to remember..." Ethan thought while trying to recall some names of specific places in novels he had read.
"I think they called this place a dum... Oh no... A dun...dun...dungeon. Yes! That's the name." Ethan exclaimed. The place he stood in had it walls made of hard bricks with moss and vine creeping through some cracks in the wall. The place was dimly lit with flickering torches hang on the wall. The walls had the designs of ancient beasts such as a long dragon two phoenix of different elements and strange beasts which Ethan had never heard of it even read of. A strange looking giant lion with tiger stripes etched into what seemed like dragon scales around it's body and with a pair of wings.
"I can see you have no knowledge about the beast design on the wall." Ethan heard Amatsurai, the lightning dragon speaks. "Huh? Where are you?" Ethan asked in confusion. "I'm speaking to you through telepathy." Amatsurai stated. "So, what is that beast?" Ethan asked with curiosity etched on his face.
"That's Dralion, a transcendent ancient being like l am. Dralion is an ancient lion beast with the stripes of a tiger, scales like a dragon but inferior to mine and a pair of wings with his whole body always enveloped by unquenchable black flames. He's one of the strongest amongst the ancient beast just like I and the fire phoenix you know." Amatsurai explained."I've learnt something but it's a sad one to hear about." Ethan said sympathetically as he walked further into the dungeon.
"Shit!" Ethan exclaimed as he noticed he had stepped on a trap tile. There was no time for him to think that he took off to his heels at the fastest speed he could afford but gradually he felt his speed reducing till it was at the level of an average human. "What happening to me?" Ethan thought as he stopped and suddenly a blue screen popped up infront of him.
[ All stats have been reset to that of an average human ]
Ethan couldn't comprehend what was happening and started questioning himself. Till another screen popped up again.
[ Commencing: Test of Worth of the Third Incarnate. Complete the test to prove yourself worthy of the World of the Third Incarnate key. ]
"So this is what they meant by game created from their knowledge from novel." Ethan said to himself and he stood prepared to fight what was going to come his way. Slowly, Ethan heard the footsteps of some people approaching that he immediately forgot about the test. He run to the curve where he heard the footsteps from but to his surprise there were a bunch of armed goblins and F rank shadowspawn, Kolo beings. "Kolo beings, according to the manual Shawn gave me they have the same strength as goblins and look exactly like goblins. This can't be a mistake it's them."
The Kolo beings looked exactly like the goblins but the only difference was that their full body was made of torn sheets, it was as though abandoned story books which had been torn to create them. "I need to end this quickly." Ethan said and manifested his lightning lexicon drawing out his sheathed lightning sword. "I guess it's no different from the real world." Ethan said in disgust after realising that the sword was still sheathed.
"Here they come." Ethan stood on high alert as the goblins and Kolo beings ran towards him. One goblin leaped forward in attempt to strike Ethan with its club but Ethan quickly blocked the attack with his sword and with one swift slash ended the life of the goblin. "It seems the effect of the lightning sheath has also decreased. They're going to be a pain in the butt." Ethan said annoyed than ever. Right after the Kolo beings had seen how Ethan killed the first goblin they started surrounding him.
"It will be bad news for me if they surround me." Ethan noted and lunged forwards with a horizontal attack effortlessly slicing through three of the Kolo beings, turned and followed up with another vertical slash which split a goblin that attempted to attack from his back into two equal halves.
"Although the Kolo beings look exactly like the goblins they are more knowledgeable and of tacticians since they are born from knowledge of forgotten books." Ethan recalled from the grimlore manual Shawn had given him. After a few minutes, Ethan was able to take down fifteen goblins and Kolo beings each successfully. Immediately another blue screen popped up infront of him;
[ Test Complete: Ethan Fen has been deemed worthy of accessing the World of the Third Incarnate ]
[ First lexicon skill, Passive: Five senses of the lightning dragon has been given back ]
[ Test reward: One random skill. Passive: Stormsense. A passive skill that allows the user to sense any danger around even without seeing them. ]
[ +5 point across all stats.]
"Oh, that nice." Ethan said happily seeing the rewards granted to him by the system and checked his lexicon.
[ Do you wish to continue with a quest. Yes/No ]
"Let's venture into it a little." With this Ethan tapped on the yes button and instantly another screen popped up.
[ Defeat the C rank Shadowspawn monster, the textmen. ]
[ Quest reward: Passive skill:Dragon's Beastly Recovery]
Instantly, fifty humanoid grimlores with shifting text and symbols on their bodies started approaching Ethan from all sides. Their numbers were more than that of both the Kolo beings and the goblins together. "These are he first image Shawn showed at the meeting. This grimlores come without companions, their sole purpose is to kill a scriptweaver or chronarch to gain their lexicon which helps them level up." Ethan recalled the statement in the grimlores manual whiles tightening his grip on his sheathed sword as he could already feel his body was giving up due to the fear-inducing skill of the textmen.
"Why am I shivering this much?" Ethan thought. "Is it because of their number or is it because of their skill?" Ethan asked himself with his legs refusing to move as if his nerves around his legs had failed him. "If I'm getting scared with this low-tier grimlores how do I expect myself to be the Prime Protector's lieutenant. I won't yield to any of this. I won't yield to any of this. I WON'T YIELD TO ANY OF THIS!" Ethan shouted and dashed towards the first textman that approached him instantly. But unfortunately for him luckily was not on his side as all the textmen went invisible.
"This is their melding with darkness ability. Somethings might be weak but they have the ability to go invisible it's a really dangerous situation." Ethan thought and stood still hoping to make rational decisions. Slowly, Ethan could feel the textmen approaching him from all angle but he didn't know how to attack them even if he knew their location. "Argh!" Ethan felt a sharp pain at his back and turned immediately only to see a shadow tendril go back into the ground.
The same situation happened fifteen more times but with the help of the stormsense skill, Ethan was able to dodge the fatal attacks but still sustained a few injuries. "I'm at an advantage because there is more darkness than light in the dungeon but it's not as if I can just call the sun to come here." Ethan lamented "Why don't I teach you the first skill of the lightning sheath?" Ethan heard someone question himself but this time it wasn't Amatsurai voice.
Instantly a screen popped up infront of Ethan again and it seemed as if time itself had paused because of the screen infront of him but by some special effect Ethan could move only his hands and therefore couldn't escape from the trouble he was already in.
[ The user has been gifted a skill; Sheath Surge. An active skill upon calling releases an amount of lightning energy into any medium it touches at the cost of lumaflux energy. ]
"I don't know the person who did this but this just the skill I need at the moment." Ethan rejoiced as his body movements got restored and time was back to normal. " Here I go." Ethan said and plunged his sheathed sword into ground. "Sheath surge." Ethan said after plunging the sword into the ground. In an instant, the lightning around the sheath got discharged into the ground electrocuting all the textmen in the ground to death. "They were that simple to kill with just one skill." Ethan said proudly of the new skill he had gained.
[ Quest complete: Reward acquired, Dragon's Beastly Recovery, Threadling rank: Heals all damage on users body. ]
"That's the best skill to receive after such a quest." Ethan said as his injuries started healing up.
