"Good morning, everyone!" Shawn beamed as he walked into the classroom, a big smile lighting up his face. "I hope you're all ready for a great day together!" It was the day after all the students had been assigned to their respective classes and Sir Shawn was in to teach his students. "I hope no one has forgotten about the rules I gave yesterday?" Shawn asked the students. "No, sir." The students answered in chorus.
"Then, shall we start?" Shawn said before turning to the board to write something. When he was done he turned back to the students and said, "This is going to be a great lesson. I don't want anyone dozing off."
Immediately all the students turned in the direction of Ethan. "Why is everyone looking at me?" Ethan thought. "Everyone, look here." Shawn clapped to catch the attention of the students. On the board, Shawn had written: The Body Requirements For Weapon Usage. All the students looked on as Shawn started his explanation of the topic.
"Everyone in this class is both a magic user and a weapon user, but in today's lesson, let's talk about the requirements to become one of the best weapon wielders. Sometimes, people think all they need to be able to wield a weapon is to be able to handle it well. But that's not it. One of the requirements for weapon usage is stamina. Having high stamina levels can help you fight longer than a person who just thinks of handling of a weapon. Under normal circumstances..." Shawn explained some of the stuffs to the students till it was break time. "You guys can go for a break. We will continue with the practical lessons after the break." Shawn said and walked out of the class.
Ethan sat in the corner of the class wondering if he should go to the cafeteria or just sit in the class and think. "What're you thinking of ?" Melwen came behind Ethan and asked. "Wo!" Ethan was startled after hearing someone ask him a question all of a sudden from behind him. He had sunk deep in his thoughts that he didn't notice when Melwen went behind him. "Let's go to the cafeteria together." Melwen said and pulled Ethan from his desk. "It's okay. I'll go with." Ethan said and stood up from his desk and followed behind Melwen. "Have you tried opening the second page of your lexicon?" Ethan asked all of a sudden as he walked with Melwen to the cafeteria. "Do you think is that easy?" Melwen said and hit Ethan at the back of his head. "Ow! What was that for." Ethan shouted after the hit at the back of his head. "You really never paid attention to what Madam Bailey said in class right?" Melwen asked.
"Uh... Let's hurry up and get to the cafeteria it's almost break over." Ethan said and started walking faster. "You're trying to dodge my question,huh...?" Melwen questioned and followed Ethan at the same pace.
"The rumours are quite right. He is handsome though." Two girls who were conversing said. "I pity that girl behind her. How can a handsome boy save you without a lexicon?" The second girl asked her friend who chuckled after hearing the question. Unknown to them Ethan could hear them clearly although he didn't want. The statement he girl made was like an arrow shot right into his chest but he could care less. "It seems my senses have become more efficient after that event." Ethan said to himself. He was more pleased that Melwen didn't hear what they said if not it would've been a war.
"What's with that faded dragon tattoo at your nape?" Melwen asked Ethan. "Um... Which one?" Ethan asked. "Yeah, that one. It's just some, uh... You know, some failed fashion I tried doing." Ethan thought faster than his brain cells could take. After realising Melwen talked about a dragon tattoo, he assumed it must have been from the dragon he saw on that day but he didn't realise he actually had a tattoo at his nape since he couldn't even see it if he knew about it. "Well, it looks quite realistic." Melwen remarked. "Yeah, it seems so." Ethan said, relieved he didn't make any mistakes to utter a word about his lexicon. "It's almost time let's speed it up." Ethan said and hurriedly got to the cafeteria.
"Am I dreaming or you're really fast now." Melwen said gasping for air after having to run after Ethan. "You might not know but running is one of my stronghold." Ethan stated proudly and walked to the food counter. They both picked sandwiches and some soda and headed for an empty table. When they were done they walked back to class before it hit break over. "I guess we should all change for the practical lesson." Piper Shade, the class representative suggested.
Piper Shade was a vibrant and enigmatic young girl with a unique presence that captured attention effortlessly. She had striking features—perhaps piercing, curious eyes that seem to notice everything, and dark, wavy hair that framed her face like a curtain of mystery. Piper had natural confidence and an adventurous spirit, often seeking out hidden corners of the world or diving headfirst into challenges others shy away from.
The school had provided high-tech gears for the protection of the students during training and the suit was also to help in the efficiency during training. The boys wore a high-tech combat suit with built-in energy-absorbing armor on shoulders and chest. The suit had a sleek, modern design in black with neon accents with a matching combat trousers with kinetic absorption layers to protect against falls or impact. They also wore reinforced boots with shock-absorption technology accompanied by smart gloves with grip enhancers, a holographic visor for tactical data, and a lightweight exo-frame for additional strength.
The girls also wore a streamlined combat suit with flexible armor plates for protection and mobility. Designed for a snug fit with neon highlights and high-tech tactical leggings with built-in shielding zones. Their footings were reinforced boots with integrated stabilizers also accompanied by smart gloves, a holographic visor, and a compact energy shield generator worn as a wristband.
"Wow!, I never knew the school's gadgets were this cool." Lorcan Frost, the assistant class representative said. "Yeah, let's see how it turns out." Hale Blackwood, Lorcan's friend also said before all the boys head out for the enchanted combat arena.
The enchanted combat arena was vast and ever-changing arena enchanted to simulate different environments such as dense forest, icy tundra, or volcanic wasteland and it was a perfect place for students with both magic and weapons to adapt to their environment. It had floating platforms for aerial combat, magic-resistant training dummies. Obstacle courses with traps that required quick reflexes and teamwork. Rune-activated weapon racks that summoned training weapons imbued with basic spells although most students preferred using their own awakened weapons.
Both the boys and girls rendezvous at the frontage of the enchanted combat arena to wait for Shawn but turned out he was already waiting for their arrival and called them to get in. "That's huge!" The students exclaimed after seeing it up close. "The seniors said it was big but I never expected this." One the girls said.
"Pay attention. For today, I'll like all of you to team up against me. This is to check your teamwork as a class because very soon you'll be sent to complete some minor missions. We'll talk about that later but now get ready." Shawn said and disappeared. "Did he disappear?" One of the girls questioned. "No, that's his speed." Lorcan remarked. "Then how are we supposed fight against him?" Another girl asked out of fear.
Ethan quickly looked around and found the rune-activated weapons racks that summoned training weapons imbued with spells and quickly ran towards it to pick a weapon. "Eclipsing Fang." Ethan read from the guard of a single-edge sword he saw in the rack. "It was one of the swords he had dreamt of using. He had seen it in a sword documentary book read definitely wanted to use it. "This is a dream come through." Ethan said and picked up the sword. "Oh, Ethan. That's some great insights you have there." Shawn applauded Ethan and explained some features of the sword.
"Well, our school is really blessed to have gotten that sword at an auction. There is only one of this kind of sword and that's what you're holding. As you can see of the blade of the sword it can cut through steel. And that polished moonstone set into the base is meant for the welder concentrate their lexicon energy into it. I think you'll get to know more about he sword when you use it." Shawn explained and turned to rest of the students.
"Now let me explain the rules to you. Immediately I slash some part of your tech gear you've been eliminated so you move to the side for the rest to continue. Got that!" Shawn shouted and disappeared again. "Yes, Sir!" The students responded in chorus and got into their positions.
"We are all weapon and magic users but Ethan hasn't awakened his lexicon yet. Let's surround him." Ethan didn't understand what Piper meant but he just complied and got in the middle of he rest of the students. "Uh...Piper!" Ethan called. "Yes, what's it?" Piper asked. "I don't know how to say it but before we'll be able to defeat Sir Shawn everyone must trust his or her instincts." Ethan stated. "He hasn't awakened his lexicon yet he dares to lecture us." Sable Quinn, one of the promising female students of Class 1 - B said furiously. "It's ok. Ethan I understand what you mean." Piper said and smiled at Ethan. "Don't worry, I've got your back." Melwen said from behind Ethan. "Ok." Ethan then replied and also took his stance.
"Shall we begin." Shawn said from the shadows and instantly the whole area turned into dense forest with the students in the middle. "Is this illusion magic?" Melwen asked Ethan. "No, this is one of the powers of this combat area; the ability to shape shift into any locations the teacher suggests." Ethan explained. "Aaargh." One students shouted and fell to the ground. "It has started." Ethan stated and took his stance; the void's edge.
A stance where the user stands motionless, holding he sword vertically Infront of their face, with both hands on the hilts. Their eyes are also closed as if meditating.
