"Good morning ma'am," Marcus greeted Lynn when she walked into the dining room... she had a lingering smile on her face as she took a seat, her eyes moving towards the door each minute as she ate her breakfast like she was waiting for someone to show up and he knew exactly who it was that she was waiting for... She sat there waiting and waiting for him to walk through The door but he till she was almost done with her breakfast... maybe he had left for work already? she thought and Marcus confirmed that when he said
"Mr. Hult left early this morning ma'am and I don't think he will be back till dinner time," Marcus informed her, and he watched the smile on her face dwindle... she nodded and continued with her breakfast, coming down also for lunch and dinner, and he watched as the smile on her face dwindled each time he told her that Alex wasn't home yet...
This went on for days, and it reached a point where she didn't even come down for dinner or lunch; she spent most of her time in her room, waiting for Marcus to come and knock on her door and tell her he was home...
"How is she?" Alex had asked when he called Marcus a few days later... If he was worried, then he should come home and check on her himself. Marcus had wanted to say that to Alex but had simply said, "She is fine, sir, but she has been in her room all day," Marcus informed... Alex had ended the call soon after so Marcus wouldn't ask him when he would be home and this had made James who was standing behind Alex in his office shake his head and squint his eyes at his boss...
"Are you going to keep avoiding her? Your wedding is in a few days... you made me rush things up, " James said, not being able to keep his thoughts to himself anymore... he sometimes wondered what was going on in Alex's mind...
"And who told you I'm avoiding her?" Alex said and turned to look at James... He glared at his secretary, and James raised both his hands up in surrender...
"I'm just saying what I observed, I just wonder how she might feel... she has to stay at the house all day, waiting till it's time for the both of you to walk down the aisle it must suck for her," James said and Alex felt a pang of guilt in his heart...
"Did you find out what Victor and Julia have been up to... they haven't made a move since I sent Julia an invitation, " Alex asked, trying to change the subject, and James understood Alex didn't want to talk about whose wife anymore went along with it...
"I have people watching their every move, Julia came into town yesterday. I think she is coming for the wedding, " James informed, and Alex nodded... "She should... her brother is getting married. "...

Lynn lay on her bed, staring at the white ceiling of her bedroom, counting as the seconds passed by... it had become like a daily routine to her for the past two weeks... Everyone in the house seemed to be busy with something except her... Their wedding was on a day like Marcus had informed her, but everything was still the same as the previous day... Alex had not even sent her a message to check how she was... and she still couldn't stop thinking of him... she didn't even know if she was mad, curious or confused... all she knew was that he was constantly on her mind...
A knock on her door swayed her attention... she got up from her bed and walked to the door expecting to see Marcus, and it was truly Marcus... "I'm not coming down for lunch," Lynn said to him. Thinking that that was why he was there...
"Mr. Hult arrived a while ago; he is asking for you in his study," Marcus said to Lynn. She froze for a moment before rushing past Marcus and heading straight downstairs... Marcus had a lingering smile on his face as he watched her leave... he knew she had been waiting for him to come home...
Lynn stopped in front of Alex's study and took a deep breath... she had a lot of questions she wanted to ask him... she raised her hand and knocked on his door, and a few seconds later, she pushed it open...
He was seated there, looking more handsome than ever... it was the middle of the afternoon, and he still had his suit on. Did he come straight home from work? Where had he been? She wanted to ask him, but she just simply walled further into his office till she was standing in front of him... her heart racing as she waited for him to speak or say something to her...
Alex stared at her, the woman that he had purposely avoided in hopes that when he saw her again, his heart wouldn't race for her, but it was useless... the moment he heard a knock on his door and she walked in his heart skipped a beat... He had stayed at his Penthouse for the past week and tried to void her in every single way while he prepared for the wedding that was just in a day, but seeing her right now staring at him with so many emotions and questions in her eyes made it seem all useless to him... He couldn't even control his feelings when it came to her... Alex fisted his hand beneath his desk and tried his best to keep a cold front, even though a part of him wished she would ask him where he had been and why he had been avoiding her, but she asked none of that she just continued to stare at him, even though her eyes asked him those questions... questions he knew he couldn't answer even though she asked him...
He felt like a coward...
