The librarian's eyebrows came together in utter confusion, but Aurelia continued, "I heard the story on one of my travels through Vyrandael. There was once a steward guarding a magnificent estate. He was his lord's right-hand man due to the fact he always completed every task to perfection and as such, he had much power within the estate. He was proud, callous, and often went out of his way to throw around his authority. And yet, this proud steward had only one flaw."
Aurelia's amber eyes gleamed as her voice dipped into a silken murmur, drawing Elara, Crisseda—and the increasingly nervous librarian—further into her tale.
