Chapter 11 - Diamond rank

Alaric was seated on the bed, while Ava stood in front of him.

"How does this work exactly?" She asked.

"Can you be quiet and let me concentrate?"

"..."

The template displayed in front of Alaric, though only he could see it.

It was a card for Ava, the system happened to have one on sale and Alaric bought it.

[Cp available: 25,000.]

[Ava Isenberg]

[Rank: Bronze rank

Level: 0/10... {350Cp to fully upgrade}.]

[Description: She is a knight of the Montclair household and your bodyguard.]

---

'Looks good, now upgrade.'

[With your current claiming points, you can upgrade the card to a diamond card. A total of 19,700 cp.]

'Wooo, isn't that too high? Well, I expected gold, but this works too.'

Alaric clicked the updated button.

[19, 700 cp has been deducted from your account. You have 5500 cp left.]

[Card is being updated.]

[Ava Isenberg has been upgraded.]

The card lit up, allowing the golden light to reflect on Alaric's face.

[Rank: Diamond (0/10. Grand master) {23000 cp.}

Abilities: Sword enhancement, Body enhancements, flame control, mana restoration.... More abilities loading.

Loyalty: 100%]

As soon as Alaric noticed the card, Ava's body began to glow. Similar to what happened to Arthur.

She could already feel the increase in strength and energy around her. Her face looked even prettier, her physique, taking the form of a model and a beautiful warrior at the same time.

Ava could barely believe her eyes, her arms stretched in front of her as she scanned herself.

"Lord Alaric?... It... worked?" She blurted out.

Alaric replied with a smug look, "Insane isn't it? You just went from a weak bronze knight, to a Diamond. That should count for something."

"Not many people in Vardenis are Gold ranks not to speak of Diamond, this is too good to be true!"

Ava looked to the side, her eyes fixed on the side table.

"My lord is it okay if I test it out?"

Alaric also looked at the table, "I mean... I don't mind."

"Thank you."

Ava immediately pulled out her blade from her sheath, her blue mana flowing towards her sword as she took a fighting stance.

'Even my posture has improved. It's like I could just-'

It happened in the blink of an eye. Ava slashed her blade and returned to her position. The table split in two and fell apart.

_pa! Pa! Pa!_

Alaric clapped his hands as he watched with a neutral stare.

"Awesome, how do you feel? Pretty strong eh? Eh?"

"Yes, I feel like I can take on ten soldiers at once, no, maybe even 50!"

"Oh you can? Isn't that great?"

"Yes my lord, if I keep at it, I should..."

Realisation hit Ava where she stood.

Her eyes turned to the side, observing as Alaric was staring at her like a predator who had cornered its prey.

"Don't tell me... You forgot about our bet, now did you?" Alaric raised his chin up.

"..."

Not a word could leave Ava's mouth, all she could do was stand there, and pray her lord doesn't ask her to do anything ridiculous.

"I wonder what I should ask of you first..." Alaric rubbed his chin, his tongue dancing around his lips as if teasing her.

It was working. Ava was already panicking, beads of sweat forming on her face.

"Okay....I think I got it." As soon as Alaric said this, he gave Ava a smile so sinister, it could only be found in the face of the devil.

Ava couldn't take it anymore, her heart was already beating louder then her thought. So, she raised her hand.

"L...lord Alaric...I have something to say."

Alaric did a small circle with his lips, "What's that?"

"I would like to use the bathroom... I've...been holding it for a while." Ava looked to the side, averting her gaze.

"Oh? You should have said so, sure you can go." Alaric responded.

Calmly, Ava bowed her head.

"I shall take my leave now."

Ava walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Reaching outside, she rested her back on the door, breathing heavily with her face beet read.

'I didn't think he would actually pull it off. I was so blinded by the chance I would win, I didn't think of what would happen if he did.'

She gripped her chest.

'Lord Alaric is known to be a playboy, he has slept with almost everyone in the Barony... what if... he plans to do the same with me?... Ahhhhhh! I'd rather die!'

Ava screamed internally, holding her head and looking at the ceiling.

Meanwhile, Alaric was still seated on the bed, scrolling through his system.

'I was able to upgrade her, it's as good as it gets. I'll do the same to the soldiers we have in the barony, The question was, how do I generate enough Cp for me to do that? It's going to take a large amount of cp to do that.'

Alaric paused.

'So I thought of a solution, if Ava, a diamond rank knight can train the soldiers, it shouldn't take long for them to catch up, or at least improve. Those with the most growth get upgraded, this way, they have an increase in morale.'

He carefully planned.

Back in his word, when he was still a soldier in learning. The school would pick out those who did well in the test and place them in charge of certain units. Those who did owe fully were left where they were.

This not only helped give capable men more power to do more incredible things, but it also helped fish out liabilities in the squad.

'Then there's me, there's no specific card I can upgrade. According to the system I have a stats section for my current character.'

Alaric frowned a bit.

"Open stats."

[Stats.]

[Name: Alaric Montclair.

Status: Young lord.

Title: Joke of the Barony. {No ability.}

Rank: Silver rank. (Beast Tamer class.)

Card owned: 3 ]

'I expected more, I guess this game doesn't focus on strength, speed and all that. I can just buy them at the magic shop, does that mean my stats are basically useless?'

_Baam baam!_

Someone suddenly knocked on the door.
