The next day.
Alaric had come up with a good plan to solve both the unemployment in the barony, and his need for workers at the mining ground.
The current population of the barony was around 1000-3000 in number. Only about 30% of the population has an earnings job as a merchant.
Since most of the trade routes had been blocked, the percentage reduced a bit by probability.
The rest of the population depended on the Barony's agriculture which was also lacking in many areas.
In other words, unemployment was at an all time low.
Well, that would soon change with Alaric's plan.
Earlier in the morning, he had sent Ava to send a message to the people.
The message went as follows -
*This is a message from the young lord of the Montclair barony. I am offering to give anyone who volunteers to help me at the mining ground a monthly salary of 1000 eres monthly. Only those who are able to work hard should apply. Visit the barony household if you're interested, only 100 people will be chosen.*
Now all he needed to do was wait and see if people would actually show up.
"Sigh! How did my mp reduce to just 1400? And I won't be able to refill it until two days later."
Alaric complained.
'i think I remember the system saying something about me being able to increase the limit. Right now my earning point limit is 10,000ep. I wonder how many cp I'd need to increase it...'
He picked up on Arthur.
It was seated in front of him, wiggling its tail and panting heavily.
'And I still have to upgrade you too.'
Alaric sighed, 'Carrier, bring out the card for Arthur.'
[Request confirmed.]
[Arthur - Guard wolf.]
[Rank: Gold rank (Diamond rank>)
Level: 0/10... {3590Cp to fully upgrade} .
{Description: This is your personal summon, a guard wolf.}
Abilities: Thunderbolts.
Loyalty: 100% .]
'3590 to upgrade Arthur from gold rank to diamond? I should be able to do it in the next two days. Probably, bring out my cards too.'
[You currently own 8 cards.]
— [Arthur.] (Gold rank.)
—[Super sight seeing.] (Gold rank)
— [Beast summoning.] (Gold rank.)
—[Ava Isenberg.] (Diamond rank.)
—[The Barony troops.] (Gold rank.)
— [Fire magic.] (Silver rank.)
— [Endurance.] (Diamond rank.)
— [Civil planner.] (Gold rank.)
These were all the cards he had purchased.
He intentionally purchased the last three cards just incase he ever needed to get into a battle to protect himself.
He might be a military trained personal, but in the face of magic, his training were nothing.
And being a beast tamer didn't help his case much since his class wasn't much of a fighter.
"Well at least now I know why my cp went down so much." Alaric looked up at the ceiling, 'this feels so familiar. Like I'm waiting for my allowance or something like that.'
Arthur suddenly leaped onto his lap.
"Sorry girl, you're going to have to wait a bit longer for that upgrade." He rubbed his hand on Arthur's fur.
"Lord Alaric. I have returned."
That was Ava, speaking from the other side of the closed door.
"That was quick, I expected it to take at least half a day to reach the entire Barony."
"Yes it would. I had help from the soldiers, so we were able to get it around faster."
'Right, the barony soldiers adore her now.' Alaric gave a weird expression.
"I also have something else to report."
"What is that?"
"People are already outside the mansion for the job application."
"Eh?"
"People are already outside the mansion for the job application."
Alaric jerked up from the end after hearing it the second time.
He ran towards the window, and took a small peep.
His eyes widened when he met more than over a hundred people lined up at the entrance, the guards trying to push them back.
Kika Montclair was also outside, clearly confused as to why so many people had showed up in front of her house.
They seemed too happy for it to be a riot.
'I expected it to take at least a day before people started to show up. Damn, the unemployment must have been crazy.' Alaric had a nervous look on his face, 'Leaving that... I don't think my social battery is fully charged for all these yet.'
"Lord Alaric? Are you there?" Ava called out again to confirm.
"Yeah! Give me a sec! I need to, uhn... settle something."
Alaric closed the curtain to the room, he was just about to take a step when the door busted open.
"Alaric! What did you do this time?!" Rashin yelled as he stepped into the room, panic etched on his face, "Why are there people in front of my house?!"
For a brief second, Alaric felt a wave of depression wash over him; his father legit came running to blame him for the entire thing even though he wasn't sure.
"..."
"Well say something!"
Alaric sighed, "They are here for a job application. Don't worry, I already have the rest planned out. Leave it to me."
He replied before walking past his father. Rashin was still confused, he had no idea what job application his son was talking about.
Making his way out of the room with Ava behind him, Alaric managed to appear in front of the crowd.
They were much.
Alaric couldn't help but smile. This meant the people of Montclair barony still had hope.
Taking a deep breath, Alaric cupped his hand around his mouth.
"ENOUGH!!! LAST PERSON TO SPEAK IS A FOOL!!!"
He shouted.
Immediately, the whole place went silent, all eyes fixed on the young lord.
[You have gained the attention of the applicants.]
"Was this what you meant when you said you'd handle it, My lord?" Ava looked at Alaric, having the same unimpressed glare on her face.
"Next phase, bring forth the tent." Alaric spoke, his finger raised to the sky.
