Adele and Carol thought it might be helpful to meet Professor Christine, as she was a close friend of Dr. Campbell and an alumnus of Harvard, who occasionally visited the Whitehead Institute.
"But it seems like that a man has been watching us for a while," Carol whispered quietly. "I saw him when we left Starbucks, and now he's followed us to the library…"
"I know, he's a federal agent who has been watching me for days," Adele replied, trying to sound calm.
"Since Professor Christine's lab is across the Charles River, let's go to the Sailing Pavilion, which is only accessible to MIT people, and take a boat! That way, it will be harder for the federal agent to follow us," Adele reassured the anxious Carol.
As the two got on a boat at the M.I.T. Sailing Pavilion, the federal agent seemed flustered and ran after them. Leaving behind the agent arguing with the pavilion staff, Adele and Carol arrived at the Boston University Sailing Pavilion across the river.

Professor Christine is a faculty member at Brigham and Women's Hospital located in the Longwood Medical Area. She is also a world-renowned expert in genetics, and Adele had audited her genetics lectures at Harvard during her undergraduate years.
"Hello, Professor! It's been a while," Adele and Carol greeted warmly.
"Adele! You've come. I've been waiting for you," Professor Christine unexpectedly said.
"Wait...? You've been waiting for us?" Adele and Carol exchanged puzzled glances.
Professor Christine calmly took a letter envelope from her drawer and replied, "Dr. Campbell visited last week. He asked me to give this to you if you came by. He also requested that I actively help you if you need anything." "But what on earth is happening?"
"We're trying to figure out what's going on too, but we don't know anything more accurately than what you know, Professor. I think only Dr. Campbell knows everything," Adele answered cautiously.

(Letter from Dr. Campbell)
Dear Dr. Adele,
As you read this letter, I am very concerned about what situation you might be facing.
Since Democratic Senator John Kerry from Massachusetts entered the presidential race, our research institute, which supports him, has been under continuous pressure.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the Republican Party intends to use the gene editing technology we have been researching to produce super soldiers for use in the 'War on Terror' and the 'War in Afghanistan.'
The pure research purpose aimed at extending human life, preventing diseases, and treating incurable diseases has been overshadowed, and it is something that a scientist's conscience can never accept when it is used solely for military purposes.
I have decided to abandon our research findings and go into hiding, but I am well aware of the passion shared by you, Dr. Adele, and the researchers. Therefore, with the help of Professor Christine, I have prepared everything necessary in the laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
However, everything depends on your choice, Dr. Adele. I hope you will ponder whether to bury our research as it is or choose to use it for humanity. Regardless of the choice you make, I will not blame you.
Wishing you safety and success.
Sincerely,
Dr. Campbell
