KAMAZ' POV
"Hit the damn gas…Now!" I bellowed at Falkur as I properly cradled Zeda in my arms.
She was so cold, so frail and fragile that I felt she could break if I didn't hold her properly.
Falkur had walked behind me when I walked towards the tower but he had maintained a reasonable distance sensing that my mood had worsened and I was at the brink of a rampage.
He was stunned to see me with a girl in my arms and I could not blame him. He had never seen me with any girl before save those ones that willingly threw themselves at me and I swiftly threw them out.
As the car sped, the breeze that was entering due to the door I had unintentionally broken, was just too much and I almost merged her body with mine to cover her.
She was as cold…like that night when she had died, and I was currently cradling her, just like I had cradled her then.
My heart was beating erratically…I couldn't lose her…again!
I was cold already and the coldness of my body would do her no good at the moment in the least.
"Take your coat off" I commanded Falkur as he drove.
Skillfully, with one hand on the steering wheel, he manoeuvred his coat from his body and passed it to me.
I didn't like the fact that she was going to be wrapped in the scent of another and my eyes that had returned to their normal baby blue colour flashed red, but only for a brief second.
I needed to do this, not just for myself but also for Zeda and so I had no choice but to cover her up. Her lips quavered as the cold seemed to build within her and was affecting her greatly despite her current state.
Falkur punched some buttons and Aaron's voice came out groggily - the young vampire was asleep. He must have plenty of time in his hands to be sleeping as he wills.
"Why are you calling me in this…" Aaron drawled and quickly, Falkur began to dish out orders to Aaron before Aaron could ask his unnecessary questions.
"Get Dr Adams right now and prepare a room. We have an emergency…we have a visitor!" Falkur said and the line was disconnected.
He put all his attention to the road, avoiding cars and lorries and swerving at intervals.
We finally got to The Manor and a stretcher was waiting in the compound. I placed her on it and quickly wheeled her into the room Aaron had prepared as per his direction.
Dr Adams was already there and the room was furnished into an hospital setting in no time.
I could have chosen to take her to a hospital but I was in no mood to follow the rules and regulations governing a white building.
I could lose it and the next second, the doctor's head might roll to my feet. I can only be considered 'safe' when I know she is out of danger but for now..
I knew I could not stay in the room, despite the fact that I so badly wanted to.
Turning to Dr Adams, I pulled the scrawny man by his collars. "If anything happens to her…" I trailed off as a lopsided smile grazed a part of my lips.
I could feel my fangs protrude a little and my nails pierce through the flesh of my skin.
I allowed my emotions to roll off me in waves and he drank it in with great fear - I felt satisfied.
I let him go and walked out of the room but not before taking one last look at Zeda.
******************
Twenty four hours solidly passed before she came around.
She had been trashing the sheets and muttering curse and threatening words and all I wanted was to know what on earth had happened to her.
A background check was already being run on her and I knew it was taking this long for all the information to come back to me because I had asked for even the minutest of information to be included.
I need to know everything about her because henceforth I had no plans of having her out of my sight…whatever it might take.
I was currently sitting on a swivel chair Falkur had brought for me since I had not left the room after Dr Adams treated her.
No one could even advise me to.
She fisted the sheets again and began to mutter,
"Let..them..go.. you.. damn… bastards. Let them go"
I drew myself closer to the bed as I placed one of my hands atop her head to check her body temperature and another on her hand to reassure her despite the state she was in, that she isn't alone.
As I removed the hair from her forehead, her eyes flew open but were immediately dimmed.
I suspected it was due to the brightness of the room and I stood up immediately to draw the curtains to block the light that was affecting her.
My joy knew no bounds and my heart was palpitating like a teenager with unrefined excitement.
But as I turned, Zeda was standing at the other side of her bed and the tray that once held a glass of water, was in her hands.
"Did they send you? Where are they?" Zeda asked, her voice rising. Her hands firm on the tray, her voice shaky but confident.
I didn't know what to say but I knew I had to say something.
I had lost the flair to communicate with anyone when I had lost her and so I rarely spoke.
"You are safe Zeda. Can you put the tray down for a second, so we can…?" I did not complete the statement before she flung the tray in my direction, probably aiming for my head as her feet aimed for the door.
I was behind her before she could take two steps and I wrapped one firm hand around her waist as I lifted her weightlessly from the floor. She flayed her legs in the air like a dissatisfied child and bit into my arm but I still did not let her go.
I placed her on the bed and before she could jump from it again, I joined her on the bed, held her both hands above her head with one of my hands, as the other hoisted her waist up.
I stared into her eyes that had tears swirling in them already as she looked everywhere in the room except at me that was hovering above her.
"Look at me Zeda.. freaking look at me" I said and she blinked away the tears that had gathered at the rim of her eyes, before her eyes accommodated me properly and I could see the proper reflection of myself which I haven't seen in centuries, in her lovely purple orbs.
"I don't know what they did to you mi vida, but I promise you that their heads will roll by your feet soonest. I am Kamaz and I don't make promises I can't keep…
But never Ever try to leave me Zeda. Not now..not ever..not again!
I don't care what it takes or how long it takes but I will find you and bring you back to me…where you rightfully belong. You are mine Zeda Altair and you might not know this but I am yours…I have never stopped being yours…never!"
After what seemed like a millennium but was only a few seconds, she finally spoke.
Her chest rose rhythmically and her eyes cleared a bit.
"I think you have mistaken me for someone else, Mister.
My name is Zelda Elsher and not Zeda Altair and I…I have never met you before" Zeda said and I smiled.
"Trust me, you have more than met me love. But that is it for now…" I said as I lowered my head to her ear.
"Sleep now my love!" I said, compelling her senses to obedience and before she could say another word, her eyes closed in surrender.
