Anna stormed after him, seething with frustration. He had skillfully avoided her words all through the ball, brushing her off as if her concerns were trivial.
'If he believed he could ignore her and face no consequences, he was gravely mistaken,' Anna thought to herself. She was determined to make him hear her out, whether he liked it or not.
Alfred stood waiting at the door, as though he had anticipated his master's return at that very moment. Without a word, he took charge, grasping the handles of William's wheelchair and guiding him inside.
He caught sight of Anna trailing closely behind, a deep frown etched on her face. He tried to hide his smile. The two of them bickered like young lovers.
"You cannot keep on doing this, William! You cannot keep risking yourself like this!" Anna's voice echoed sharply in the chamber. "For once, just listen to me!"
