As Kalè carried the boys through the woods under the night, heading toward safety, she noticed that some houses had also been annihilated by the Inn. Suddenly, she saw the shadow of an Inn.
"Damn it, I can't fight right now," she thought as she hid behind a tree to let the Inn pass by.
Just then, her heart dropped as she felt the presence of the Inn looming over her from the tree, looking down at her.
"Hello there!" the ominous voice said, a smile on his face.
"Damn it!" Kalè exclaimed as she dashed off with speed, not daring to look back to see if it was following them.
"That's not nice, human. Running away from me when I'm this hungry?" the Inn said, blocking her path.
She paused, shocked by the speed of this Inn.
"Alright, I suggest you leave if you want to live!" Kalè declared, dropping the boys and pulling out her lighter as she lit it.
"Oh? Is that a treat, human?!" the Inn asked, taking a step back.
"Take it as you want, but leave before it takes a wild turn," she added, feeling more relaxed as her threats seemed to be working.
"How could I when I can fill myself with three prey?!"
Kalè felt annoyed as the Inn only moved away to a safe distance, glaring at them.
"Well, let's see who will last longer then," Kalè said.
Aware that the creature wouldn't leave, she ripped the top of her clothing and lit a flare to widen the threat to the Inn in front of them.
The Inn continued to back away as Kalè racked her mind for something to do.
"Is he trying to be seen? Even though his pupils are visible?" Kalè thought as she observed the Inn.
She looked at the silhouette of the huge human figure with two massive curly horns and a frighteningly designed face with oversized teeth.
"What is this creature, anyway, and where did it come from?!" The thought of who and where the Inn originated puzzled her as she kept her guard up, sensing that the Inn seemed to be patiently waiting for the right moment to strike.
Kalè continued ripping her shirt to ignite the flame further while glaring at the Inn for any movement. Both stared at each other, and Kalè felt a slight fear creeping in as the morning approached, accompanied by distant screams of people.
"This is no time to get emotional, Kalè," she thought, keeping her eyes peeled for the Inn, waiting for her to slip.
Morning arrived as the dawn began to emerge in the sky. The Inn continued to look at her, resting nonchalantly. Kalè's fear heightened as she saw the Inn grin at her while her flame seemed to be dying out, overshadowed by the emerging light of dawn.
"Well, I guess I have no option but to fight!" Kalè thought as she got up.
Aware that the Inn could use one of the boys as a hostage or even feed on them, she sighed, reassuring herself not to get distracted.
Just then, the Inn smiled at Kalè. "Finally giving yourself up, huh, little human?"
"If that's the case, then I'll give you my name so you can remember me. Though it will be worthless after you're gone, I love for my name to be known, you know."
"I'm Olao from the Inn race!" he said as he dashed forward to grab Kalè's neck.
Meanwhile, a smile tugged at Kalè's lips, as she had a plan in mind. In a swift moment, her eyes widened in shock as Olao's wrist snapped. She hadn't done anything, and she stood there, stunned.
"Hickson?!"
"No! It's him!" Kalè thought, her fear heightening as she recognized Feya.
