Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Aunt's Assistance

After the fire, Sophia's world was completely turned upside down. She not only lost her home, but also the life she was familiar with. In the ruins of the small bar that was once full of warmth and laughter, she felt unprecedented helplessness and loneliness. However, life must go on, and she needs to find a new beginning.

With the help of Benjamin, Sophia went to Alex Manor to work as a cook. Although she didn't have much experience working in a large manor before, she had a talent and passion for cooking, and she decided to try it. With simple luggage and an uneasy heart, Sophia came to Alex Manor, ready to start her new job.

The kitchen of the manor is a busy and vibrant place, and Sophia quickly got into her new job. Her craftsmanship soon won the appreciation of the owner and servants. The food she cooked was not only delicious, but also full of love and care, and every dish was like a story she told with her heart.

The owner of Alex Manor warmly welcomed Sophia's arrival. They appreciated her abilities and sympathized with her experience. The servants of the manor also quickly accepted her. They were moved by Sophia's diligence and kindness. She was always the first to come to the kitchen and the last to leave. Her hard work and dedication inspired everyone.

As time went by, Sophia not only won everyone's love with her cooking skills, but also integrated into this big family with her personal charm. She treated everyone gently and politely, and her optimism and tenacity became everyone's pillar in the face of difficulties. Her arrival brought new vitality and warmth to the manor, and her laughter and cooking aroma became an indispensable part of the manor.

Although Sophia still had sadness for the past and uncertainty about the future in her heart, her new life in Alex Manor made her find a sense of belonging again. She knew that despite the earth-shaking changes in her life, she had the ability to adapt and find new value and happiness here.

Every day in the manor, Sophia used her hands and heart to inject love and warmth into this new home. Her story, like the food she cooked, is slowly unfolding, full of infinite possibilities and hope.

Alex's mood was originally heavy and low, and the pressure of life made him feel breathless. However, when Sofia's dessert appeared on his table, everything began to change quietly. It was a dessert with exquisite appearance and delicate taste, and every bite seemed to exude sweet magic. After tasting it, the melancholy in Alex's eyes was replaced by a glimmer of surprise, as if the sweet taste touched a string deep in his heart.

A long-lost smile gradually appeared on Alex's face, and his heartbeat softened with the taste of the dessert. At that moment, he felt that all the troubles and pressures were temporarily away from him, replaced by a sense of pleasure and satisfaction, which made him forget the pain temporarily. Sofia's dessert not only warmed his stomach, but also warmed his heart, giving him the strength and courage to move forward. At that moment, Alex felt a warmth of being cared for and understood, and Sofia's dessert became his comfort when he was depressed.

In daily manor life, Alex had more contact with Sofia. He was attracted by Sofia's enthusiasm and vitality, and her optimistic attitude made him feel warm. Sophia's laughter was like sunshine, illuminating the haze in Alex's heart. He began to have a good impression of Sophia, and her appearance brought new colors to his life.

Alex began to appear in the kitchen frequently, talking with Sophia and sharing his troubles. Sophia comforted him with her own experience and optimism, and her frankness and sincerity made Alex feel at ease. He found himself looking forward to every encounter with Sophia more and more, and her fiery enthusiasm was slowly melting the iceberg in his heart.

As time went by, the relationship between Alex and Sophia gradually deepened. They walked in the garden of the manor and shared each other's dreams and secrets. Alex found himself increasingly dependent on Sophia, and her company made him feel no longer lonely.

Sophia also found comfort in Alex's company, and her life became more colorful because of Alex's appearance. She began to look forward to meeting him every day, and his melancholy and depth made her feel distressed, and she hoped to warm him with her enthusiasm.

Emily stood in front of her sewing workshop that had burned to ashes, surrounded by piles of unfinished designs and fabrics. The drizzle from the sky seemed to be sobbing with her, and the raindrops hit the glass on the ruins, making a subtle sound.

Her brows were furrowed, and her heart was full of uncertainty about the future. Emily knew that she would not be able to make a living without her sewing workshop. She had to seek help, and her aunt in Scotland was her only hope. She held a feather pen in her hand, and the tip of the pen hesitated on the letter paper, and her eyes were full of anxiety and expectation. She took a deep breath and tried to maintain the lady's reserve in the letter, but there was still a hint of urgency between the lines.

"Dear aunt," she wrote, "I am writing this letter with a heavy heart. My sewing workshop was burned down due to an accident. My life is now facing unprecedented difficulties. I beg you to give me some financial support. I know this may cause you inconvenience, but your help means everything to me."

Emily read the letter again and again, making sure that every word revealed her sincerity and respect. She didn't want to appear too desperate, but she couldn't hide her predicament. Her heart was filled with uncertainty about the future, but she knew that she had to be strong, for herself and for her dream.

Finally, she mustered up the courage, folded the letter, put it in the envelope, and sealed it with wax. She put on her coat, picked up her umbrella, walked out the door to the post office and put the letter into the mailbox. The town in the rain seemed particularly quiet, with few pedestrians on the streets, and only the occasional carriage passing by broke the tranquility. Emily stood in front of the mailbox, with a complex emotion in her heart. She didn't know whether her aunt would respond to her request for help, nor did she know whether this letter would change her fate.

She looked up at the sky, and the raindrops fell gently on her face, cold and refreshing. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She knew that no matter what the result was, she couldn't give up. She had to keep moving forward, even if the road ahead was unknown.

Emily walked slowly on the way home, the rain wet her skirt, but she didn't seem to notice. Her heart was full of thoughts about the future. She thought of her childhood, those holidays spent at her aunt's house, those carefree days. She remembered that her aunt was always so kind and generous, and she always encouraged Emily to pursue her dreams.

A glimmer of hope surged in Emily's heart. Perhaps her aunt would understand her plight and lend a hand. She knew that this was not just about financial help, but also about family support and love. She needed this support to rebuild her workshop and regain her dream.

She walked through the town square, where the fountain seemed even quieter in the rain. Water drops dripped from the edge of the fountain and fell into the pool, making a crisp sound. Emily stopped and looked at the fountain, her heart full of emotion. The water of the fountain will continue to flow no matter what difficulties it encounters, just like her, no matter what challenges she encounters, she will continue to move forward.

She continued to move forward, through the streets of the town, and returned to her home. She took off her wet coat and sat in a rocking chair by the window with a cup of hot tea in her hand. Her eyes fell on the rain outside the window, and her heart was full of expectations for the future. She knew that she had done everything she could, and now, she could only wait.

Meanwhile, Alex was in the family study, facing the wall of books and the expectations of the family. He felt more and more depressed, and his life seemed to be bound by the family's traditions and responsibilities. He began to doubt his future, and his heart was filled with a desire for freedom.

Alex stood at the window, looking at the outside world. His eyes revealed melancholy, and he felt that he was trapped in a cage from which he could not escape. He knew that he had to find a woman of Scottish descent to complete the family ritual, but his heart was silently rebelling.

His father, the patriarch of the family, had a clear plan for his future. Alex felt like a chess piece, being manipulated by the family. He longed to be able to control his own destiny, but he also knew that any resistance could have serious consequences.

Alex took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He knew that he had to make a choice, but his heart was hesitant. He didn't know what to do, and his future seemed confused.

At the other end of town, Benjamin's darkroom was hidden in the corner of his slightly old-fashioned apartment. The walls around were painted dark gray to reduce the reflection of light, and the air was filled with the unique smell of developer and fixer. In one corner of the room were various photographic equipment, and in the other corner were his collection of divination books and tools. On the wall hung several black and white photos, recording the history and secrets of the town.

Benjamin stood in front of the enlarger, concentrating on observing the photos that had just been developed. His eyes were sharp, as if he could see through people's hearts. Under the dim light, he noticed some unusual details-some strange shadows loomed in the background of the photo, their shapes were irregular and seemed to be moving.

An ominous premonition surged in his heart. As a photographer, he was used to capturing moments, but this discovery seemed beyond his understanding. His divination and foreknowledge instinct told him that these shadows were not just flaws in the photos, they foreshadowed an impending disaster in the town.

He gently put down the photos, walked to the bookshelf, and took out an ancient divination book. The pages were yellowed and the edges were worn, but the symbols and patterns on them were still clear. Benjamin flipped open the book, looking for possible explanations related to these shadows. He knew that he had to find out where these shadows came from and what they portended.

It was late at night, and only a small light was still on in Benjamin's darkroom. He sat at the table with several divination books and some scattered notes spread out in front of him. His fingers gently stroked the pages of the book, his brows furrowed, and his eyes flashed with worry about the unknown. He began a series of divinations, trying to interpret these omens.

He used Tarot cards to lay out a complex formation, each card representing a possible future. He lit another candle and let the smoke swirl in the air to form various patterns. Benjamin's heart was filled with a sense of urgency, and he knew that time was running out.

As the divination progressed, he felt a deep sense of uneasiness. The images shown on the cards were chaotic and blurred, and the patterns formed by the smoke were difficult to interpret. He felt that these shadows were closely linked to the fate of the town, and they might be a harbinger of some supernatural power.

Benjamin decided to take action. He knew that he had to find the answer as soon as possible, otherwise the town might face unforeseen dangers. He began to investigate in the town, interviewing those who might know the secret of the shadows. He questioned the older residents, consulted the town's historical records, and even visited some forgotten ruins.

His investigation led him to some disturbing facts. The history of the town is full of mysterious events and unsolved mysteries, and these shadows seem to have some connection with these events. Benjamin feels that he is getting closer to the truth, but the truth may be much more complicated than he thought. Benjamin sat alone in the dark room, his eyes flashing with worry about the unknown. He knew that he had to continue looking for answers, even if it meant he had to face the truth he feared most.

It was late at night, and Emily, Sophia, Alex, and Benjamin were all worried about their future. It seemed that their lives had all reached a turning point, and they had to make choices, and these choices would determine their fate.
