Chapter 2 - Three

"What were you thinking, Daisy?" Stefan asked as his cold eyes bored holes into mine.

"I was going to the Helios hotel around the street," I replied, slightly defensive.

Stefan says nothing but his eyes that are still fixed on mine is all I need to know that he is still pissed at me.

"I'm sorry," I finally mutter while glancing away.

Last night was a dream. Or rather, I wanted it to be a dream.

Yet, Stefan sitting across from me in one Helios's penthouse suites was the only proof I needed to know that yesterday had happened.

Declan had sent me out of the house. At night.

"I have called Jamie and Axel."

"Axel would fly in tonight and Jamie is on his way."

I shot up from my seat.

"Stefan, please don't."

"I already called them. As for how I found you and why I found you, a married woman like that by that time, you would be the one to explain to them."

I let out a sigh of relief but before I could sit down back, Stefan's arms wrap around me.

"How could you not have called me?"

"If I hadn't put some men to constantly watch you, what would have happened to you?"

His words make my heart break even more and I'm back to bawling my eyes out.

Yes, how could I not have not called him?

Was keeping my pride more important than my life.

I allowed him to hug me for a while more until I felt a little nauseous again.

"Please tell Axel to not come."

My first brother was cold and cruel and as much as I loved him, I didn't want him dealing with Declan before I understood what was happening.

Stefan chuckled at my misery and sprawled on the sofa across from me.

"He's coming in for the Helios Club. I didn't call him."

I glared at Stefan and then threw the pillow beside me at him.

"How dare you prank me?"

"It was not a prank, I was just informing you about his itinerary. Besides, he knows I'm with you."

"What else does he know?" I asked quickly, heart in my chest.

"Nothing, I just told them we were together."

Relief racks through me as my back hits the sofa I was sitting on.

"Okay then."

As long as he didn't tell them, I could tell them I was the one that got mad at Declan and walked out of the house.

Once Declan and I worked through this, we would be back together like…

A familiar phone chime pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked around the room.

"What was that?" I hadn't picked my bag and stuffs last night and I knew Stefan's phone was always muted.

"Oh, it's probably your phone, some courier man brought some bags for you and dropped it at the reception."

"What?" I asked following his gaze and saw three familiar bags. Not familiar.

These were my bags.

I don't even think twice as I rush forward and grab the handbag that was perched on top of the bags.

I fished out my phone and saw three new notifications.

Declan—I hope you are settling in nice with your new man?

Hannah— bitch, you better sign the divorce papers, we have enough evidence against you so don't think about taking one dime from Declan!

I had similar messages from Declan's parents.

I don't even realize that my hands are trembling until Stefan pulled my phone from my hands.

"What's going on?"

"Stefan…"

My brother doesn't speak, instead, he slides the phone into his pocket and wrap his arms around me.

"Regardless of what's happening, don't forget that you still have us three."

"And our parents too…" he paused and another tear drop falls from my eyes.

"As long as you come back home, they have missed you so much."

It was the last thing I needed to hear and also what I needed as I burst into loud tears.

••• •••••

I stared at my reflection in the mirror and sighed one more time. The last thing I needed was an event and having to smile at so many people but Stefan insisted as he didn't trust me to be myself.

Besides, I also didn't mind meeting my other two brothers, the last time we met was a year ago because they always had to sneak to see me.

"You ready?" Stefan asked as he opened the door.

I nodded, took one glance in the mirror and joined him at the door.

For tonight, I would forget that my world and life was falling apart.

Stefan waited for me to enter his Bentley Muslanne before he entered after me.

"Can't you turn off your high profile switch off every now and then?" I glared at him noticing the stares his limited edition car was getting.

"Why do I work so hard?" He joked while cocking his head at me and I rolled my eyes. He was never going to change.

Besides, I knew that the entire higher society took the yearly Helios Club banquet seriously.

My mind couldn't help but go to the conversation I overheard yesterday and I clenched my fists.

To think I had thought to call Stefan to get Declan an invitation.

While he wasn't born into the best of families, Declan made up for it with his skills and he was the only programmer that I could step back.

In the last five years, his company had grown explosively but it was enough for him to get to the ranks of big sharks that were invited to Helios.

As the car rolled to a stop, I pushed thoughts of Declan to the back of my mind and held Stefan's hands to climb out of the car.

However, as I got down, my eyes go to the car parked behind me and I freeze. Because right behind me was my husband and Stella standing with their arms locked together.

His eyes met mine and his brows knitted tight.

"Declan…" I whisper called but if he had heard me, Declan didn't show it as he wrapped his arms around Stella's waist and walked to the red carpet.

The bastard.
