Chapter 61 - Sixty one

STEFAN POV

I was in Daisy's room after the party.

"So how do you feel being an official Helios now?" I asked her.

"Indifferent, I don't know."

"Did you talk to Declan tonight?"

"He apologized."

"When was this?"

"Before the announcement."

"I am sure after the announcement, he knows the truth about everything now."

"I don't know what to think about anything; I am so confused. A part of me wanted nothing more than for him to know the truth and apologize."

"and now that part of you doesn't want forgiveness anymore?"

"I am angry that he would even think such about me in the first place and his stupidity led to our children growing up with a father."

I went close to her and kissed her forehead.

"Sleep; I am sure after a good night's rest, you will be able to think more clearly and decide what to do," I advise her.

She nods and hugs me. I pat her forehead gently.

"It will be okay, you will see."

"Goodnight Stefan."

"Goodnight Daisy."

I leave her room and head to my room.

My phone rang, and I looked at the caller ID.

It was Lily. Why was she calling me? Why now?

I ignored the call and went to my room.

I took a shower, when I came out of the bathroom, my phone was still ringing. Lily was still calling.

I answer the call.

"Yes?"

It wasn't Lily's voice who replied to me, but a male voice that sounded familiar.

"This is the bartender at the bar. She is here and drunk; she told me to call you. Can you come pick her up? I am about to lock up," he told me.

"Sure, I am on my way."

I sighed as I ended the call, what had she been thinking, getting drunk like this?

I put on my clothes, grabbed my car keys, and went downstairs.

"Going somewhere?" Axel asked.

He was standing by the staircase.

"Yes, I was going to my condo," I replied.

"Did you see that bastard Declan at the party today?"

"Yes, he came with Iris Selene. He is their newest partner so they would take him around for networking." I replied.

"Ah! I see. That bastard must think he is so smart, partnering with them."

"He was just doing business."

"Do you think he would come begging after the announcement?"

I shrugged, "Maybe, that's what any sane person would do."

"Do you think she will forgive him?"

"It's up to her." I was getting impatient with his questions.

He leaned in close to me.

"You are the closest to her, do you think she would take him back?"

I shifted back from his intense gaze.

"I am not in her mind, so I don't know."

"Keep an eye on her and report to me. That bastard mustn't be allowed to crawl his way back into her life."

"Got it. I will do that, can I go now?"

"Sure."

I escaped quickly before he came up with another set of questions.

I entered my car and made my way to the bar.

As I drove, I thought of Axel.

While the rest of our family hated Declan for his actions. Axel seemed to hate him with an intensity that surpassed ours.

I wondered why; was it just the protectiveness of Daisy?

Yes! That must be it, Axel was the firstborn, and he must feel very protective of Daisy, who was the last child and only daughter of the family.

For Declan's sake, I hope he came up with a good way to apologize; otherwise, Axel would hate him for eternity.

I got to the bar and parked my car.

On entering the bar, I met the bartender cleaning the tables.

"Good evening," I told him.

"Good evening, it has been a long time."

"Indeed it has, where is she?"

He pointed at a booth.

"She is there sleeping."

"How did she get so drunk?"

"She came in and requested the strongest drinks we had. I tried to discourage her, but she wouldn't listen. She sat down in the booth, crying and drinking. I tried to talk to her but she just wanted to drink. When she was drunk, I asked her to call someone to pick her up, and she handed me her phone and told me to call 'Wise one.'"

"Thanks for taking care of her."

"No problem, that's why I am here."

I went to the booth, and there she was sleeping; she looked so innocent and peaceful in her sleep.

I scooped her in my arms and carried her.

As I walked to the door, I stopped to talk to the bartender.

"has she paid?"

"Yes, she already did."

"ok, goodnight. Thanks for calling me and taking care of her."

"You are welcome. And one more thing, I don't know what happened between you two, but I hope you can settle it. What the both of you have is beautiful."

"Thanks. Can you keep her car for her?" I told him.

"I will do that."

I nodded and left.

I placed her in the backseat gently.

And then I drove her to my apartment.

She was still asleep when we got to the apartment. I had to carry her.

I placed her on the bed and she continued sleeping blissfully.

I sat beside her with my laptop and worked.

After some hours, I noticed her tossing and turning. It was already in the early hours of the morning.

She opened her eyes and was startled when she saw me.

She sat up immediately.

"What am I doing here?" she asked.

"I would think a 'thank you for saving my drunk ass' would be the first thing you would say after waking up."

"Thank you, how did I get here?"

"You told the bartender to call me."

"oh! I am sorry for inconveniencing you. I will go home now." she stood up from the bed, arranging her clothes.

"How? Your car isn't here."

"I will get a cab."

"Do you have any idea how unsafe it is for a young woman to be outside by this time?"

"I can call my brother, I guess."

"And what would you tell him you were doing at my apartment by this time?"

She bit her tongue and looked down.

"Just go in there, take a shower, you can go home when it's daytime."

"But...." she tried to protest.

"It wasn't a request, it was an order." I interrupted her.

"Okay, I will do that," she replied and hurried into the bathroom.

I shook my head and went back to my work.
