Chapter 2 - A Drunken Plan for Revenge

For a moment Paige was stunned with in the next a gave Marlena the thumbs up.

He really is incredibly tall. I support you! His uncle has the ideal look. Not even Grayson can match his uncle's amazing looks. The authority and fortune of his uncle are likewise analogous to the Hardy family."

"I must remind you that until you locate an exceptional match, Isla will hold a higher position at Cray Corporation than you. Thus, I believe his uncle is a good fit for you!"

Marlena momentarily went into a stupor.

The Hardy family would never allow Isla to keep Marlena if she continued to work for Cray Corporation.

"I will now go win his heart!"

On an instinct, Marlena grabbed Paige's handbag and searched for makeup and lipstick.

Her innocent face had suddenly turned into a radiant one.

Paige gave a blink. Are you sure you can handle him, I wonder?

"Is he not simply a man? Oh, the simpler sex should be no problem for me to deal with."

Marlena grabbed a half-empty red wine glass and put her hair over her shoulder as she walked. She wove with determination toward the man, looking pretty and weathered.

The man became progressively more handsome as she neared him. His nasal bridge was perfect, his eyebrows trim and earnest. He was gorgeous.

Hello. I'm sorry to bother you, but do you know what time it is?

Marlena tapped him on the shoulder twice with her finger.

Marlena saw the word "devil" flash across her mind as the man opened his eyes in the dimness of his drunkenness.

Then she was blank for a moment. Smiling prettily, and realizing what she had decided to do, she said, "I think our meeting here tonight is going to be the first day of our happy lives."

Wesley Eldred frowned. 'I'm not a doctor.' I don't provide medical care.

"What?"

"You're crazy, aren't you?" There was a twitch at the right side of the man's tempting lips. But what he said was very cruel.

..

Marlena wanted to reach for a mirror and take a good hard look at herself right then.

Wasn't she pretty?

Anyway, it wasn't like you could figure out what guys were thinking. Grayson wouldn't have lied to her otherwise.

"I am not well. I have come down with a malady— I am in love, and that is worse."

Marlena quickly recovered and blushed. "It was only after I met you that I began to feel sick."

"You know how they say a person can't help but feel blissful when they meet the one?" Marlena continued after Wesley raised an eyebrow.

Okay, I get it now. You can go.

Without a care in the world, he turned his gaze from her, and it sounded as if he'd been through some rough times but hadn't found her annoying.

Marlena felt so hurt. She was Sydney's pride and a stunning beauty. She felt like turning away now. But she brought herself to talk to Grayson again the moment she pictured herself as his aunt.

Could I have your number for my WhatsApp, pretty boy?

Wesley sat on the couch with his eyes closed. He looked so elegant.

Could you do me a favor, handsome?

"Handsome, you look so charming when you close your eyes that ladies can't help but go weak at the knees."

Wesley became irritated by the completely shameless owner of the voice. "What in creation do you want?"

Blubbing out, Marlena said, "I want to marry you."

Wesley felt the edges of his mouth begin to quiver.

"What I just said would make me a scumbag if I really don't plan on marrying you," She laughed, "But seriously, I am quite a good catch. This year, I'm 22. I'm a University of New South Wales graduate. I'm an independent woman and does well in both life and work. In addition, I'll pamper my husband ? Like for real.. Ok hahaa.. And yes of course, I'll do my part to earn some money too! Haha..

I DON'T HAVE ANY BAD HABITS AND AM HEALTHY.

Most importantly, as your partner .. girlfriend/fiance/wife , i won't be wishy washy or ambiguous about US."

Wesley could only stare at her.

After he wiped his eyes, he gave her a strange look.

Marlena held up a hand. "I swear I'll be good to you and I'll honor everything I just said."

"Stop talking."

Wesley stood up because he couldn't take her anymore.

She didn't know he was that tall until she looked up. Besides being almost six feet and two inches, he had a fabulous body.

"Bring your birth certificate and come to the registrar's office at ten tomorrow if you want to get married."

The guy had one hand in his pocket and was looking down at her.

Marlena couldn't believe it. She didn't know what to say. "You're not kidding me?" she finally managed to say.

"You could try it out." Wesley looked aside, turned around and strode out of the room.

The dramatic twist happened so quickly Marlena nearly thought she was drunk.

That was the last thought she had before Paige came up and tapped her on the shoulder. "Don't be too mad" She said "It's not easy to steal the heart of a tall, handsome, rich guy. Come on there—"

No! Marlena interrupted, confused "He said meet him at the entrance of city hall tomorrow at 10 in the morning!"

We were startled when one day poor 4-year-old Paige, grinning and bouncing with glee, announced, "I'm sooooo happy! I just can't wait until you and my dad get married!"

"Believe him?" Marlena asked.

Paige hugged Marlena's soft face to her.

Why not? Please. You could easily beat those Baird women at their own game with your naturally wholesome facade. I'd marry you myself in a hot minute if I were a man. Now, let's go drink to your marriage.

Marlena sadly wondered how much Paige had drunk while she was away.

But Marlena was drinking alcohol and now she had a hangover. She could feel her head starting to weigh her down.

A Bentley Mulsanne pulled up outside the bar gingerly.

Wesley slid into the back seat when the valet opened the car door. He sprawled against the leather seat and undid two buttons of his shirt over his chest. "I thought I told you to keep a low profile."

"The Eldred family owns cheaper cars than this." Nolan Baird replied smoothly.

"Brighton?" Wesley scowled slightly. "And who else be knowin' I'd gone there?"

"Every last one o' us but Old Madam."
