Rayne POV
The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the cold—sharp, biting, and unrelenting. My body ached as if I'd been thrown into a wall, and the faint sound of dripping water echoed around me.
"Rayne?" Xavier's voice cut through the haze, urgent and panicked.
"I'm here," I croaked, trying to sit up. My head throbbed, but I managed to focus on the dim glow of his silver eyes in the darkness.
"Thank the gods." He crouched beside me, his hands hovering like he wasn't sure if he should touch me. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine." I waved him off, though my whole body screamed otherwise. "Where are we?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Xavier said, his jaw clenched. "One second, we were in the chamber. The next..."
"Gone," Kael's voice interrupted, low and smooth. He stepped out of the shadows, his golden eyes glowing faintly. "Whatever magic was used, it transported us here. Somewhere far from the others."
