Chapter 27 - Information

This panic and care from an outsider was new but expected from a mild human.

He worried about his welfare; I mean, this life was a spare not everyone gets, but instead, he proved something else.

"What about the kid, how are you going to tend to his condition"

Immediately Seth said this, she couldn't help but turn to look at Alex.

She was so panicked she didn't even think about this beforehand.

"I'm not leaving until my sister comes," Alex said

"Well that settles it, he won't go without the redhead and you won't go without him, so why don't we take this time to strengthen our bond"

Malia looked at Alex with confusion in her eyes.

'Was it his health or did he hope for her to come earlier than they do or is there some other reason?' she thought before replying to Seth

"You want information?"

"You saw them, who were they? And why are you scared of them?" Seth asked

Malia calmed down and replied

"If I'm to give you information, it has to go both ways."

The silver bracelet on her wrist glowed briefly, and from the light emerged a chair to which she sat on

Seth stared, half in annoyance, half in disbelief.

'What else can that thing summon?' he thought before replying

"I don't see any problem with that"

It's not like he had any secret information, but depending on her questions, he wouldn't divulge many details.

Malia caught the glance he gave her and his surprised reaction but acted uncaring to it.

"They were mercenaries, not all of them though, the point is they weren't just any mercenaries and even if they were you shouldn't be bothered about the priest," Malia said seriously

"I'm listening " Seth replied

Malia bit her tongue for a while before saying.

"Arvan, I suspect that is where he is from."

Seth almost asked why but clamped his lips as it seemed she had entered storytelling mode.

Unfortunately, it seemed she was expecting a response from Seth, who stared blankly back at her.

"You're not from around here are you?" Malia asked in another shock

"Bingo! It seems this Arvan is either notorious or famous enough to be scared of?" Seth replied calmly

"If you don't know the names of one of the 5 great kingdoms then I don't even know where to start," Malia said

"If it does you any better, I've lived here my whole life, I don't know outside this dungeon" Seth replied casually

"Impossible... " Malia said but then she brought her voice down as she thought clearly about this.

She subconsciously felt compassion towards Seth being a prisoner of war.

Meanwhile, Seth, after telling a white lie, wasn't exactly keen on correcting her.

"But that is all the more reason we should escape from here," Malia said as even her brother turned to look at her

Seth pondered on how pure-hearted she is to be this gullible.

"I can't ..."

"If you're worried about the dungeon master attacking you, then we could wait till my sister comes, at best this dungeon is B rank and she Is an A rank battle monk," Malia said

At the mention of this Seth's words changed.

"I'll think about it, I have my reasons, and you were saying something about the priest "

Inwardly Malia had decided to convince him to leave with them and subconsciously gotten comfortable in his presence.

"Like I was saying The nearest Kingdom from here that matches the priest you... I mean, your summons killed is the Arvan kingdom; it is a theocratic kingdom that is ruled by a monarch who is supposedly blessed by the god of light and order.

The fact that a mercenary and priest are working together means that the mercenary guild must have hired a priest under a contract of protection to clear this unregistered dungeon.

Now the reason I was in a panic is because of by chance, and the chance I'm speaking of is a 90% chance that this priest is from the priesthood guild, then that would mean you just killed a bee"

"Meaning the whole hive is going to come after me," Seth said with a hand of his jaw touching his nonexistent goatee.

"Technically coming after this dungeon," Malia said to release Seth of the pressure and convince him to leave

"And how would they know he is dead?" Seth asked

"There are 4 different types of guild; The mercenary, Priesthood, Adventurer, and Crafting guild.

The priesthood guild is, in a word, religious and tied heavily to specific deities, leading them to have almost unparalleled power in the kingdom.

Now, unlike the other guilds, the priesthood guild is more organized and detailed; in short, it is like a network of deities and servants, and each deity is wired indirectly to their servants.

The loss of one servant leads to a shortage of staff, and you just killed not just a servant but a head servant.

Leading to not just a shortage of staff but also an imbalanced workforce.

The priesthood guild are prideful and after sensing that one of their kind is dead, it won't be difficult to trace them back here and investigate to reclaim their glory"

"Do they answer as servants?" Seth asked

"Oh no, we just call them that as they call us heretics, the bond between guilds is not very friendly, but that also means more problems for the mercenary guild which is double as much problem for you if you decide to stay"

"I saw him say something before his death, did you happen to hear it?"

" yes, I did... It's ... "

"What is it?"

"I can't seem to remember "

This was surprising to Seth, short-term memory or what?

"Hmm, what of their exclusive strengths?"

"I don't know the exact details but it lies around blessings and artifacts for the priesthood"

"And the rest?"

"If you're trying to put up a fight, then it's futile; you should run while you can... Speaking of which I need to contact my sister "
