That look was full of amusement, then he walked straight over!
"What!" The three on the attic were horrified.
Is this really happening? Is it?
This old cat was all but assured victory, yet he's thinking about breaking the agreement and storming into the mansion?
Everyone held their breath, suddenly, the Silver Hand Youth stopped, then turned back around.
Everyone sighed in relief, thinking that maybe this guy was just trying to scare everyone for fun.
But Gao Xin didn't dare take it lightly, watching intently.
Then they saw the Silver Hand Youth laugh: "Almost forgot, we've got a little mouse right here."
He walked over to the bushes by the courtyard door, tilted his head, smiled, and reached in, yanking someone out.
"It's the guy who was hiding at the door earlier, trying to hide in the shadows!" exclaimed Su Lei.
Meimei swallowed nervously: "Playing tricks like this only works if you bet the old cat won't come back to the door after passing by easy."
"But the old cat had an agreement with us, he's healing, he's been resting in the courtyard for so long, he should have discovered the person hiding there by now."
Su Lei said anxiously, "What's he up to? Didn't we agree to spare the mouse's life? What else does he want?"
The mouse caught at the door asked the question they all wanted to ask.
This guy had been hiding out for a long time and naturally heard the content of the negotiations when the bald man came over.
Now that he'd been caught, he was nearly scared out of his wits, screaming: "Boss! Boss! What are you doing? Didn't we agree you'd spare the mouse? After it's over, I'll give you 90 redemption points!"
Hearing this, Meimei on the attic gasped: "What? 90 points? What's going on?"
Gao Xin wasn't surprised, and he sighed: "That's the whole point of the bald man insisting on negotiating himself, ever since he questioned me so many times before, I saw it coming..."
"He too wanted to leave some redemption points for himself..."
Meimei was speechless; they as slaves struggled so hard to keep not a single redemption point, always struggling, never changing their fate, right up until death...
But if the bald man could negotiate the price to 90 points, he could later claim that all the rewards were taken by the old cat and keep 10 points for himself.
"Crazy?" Su Lei knew the risks of such a move were huge, almost certain to fail! You're only betting that the cat is too injured to bother about a little less money.
He ranted, "He's gone mad! We all agreed to give everything to him, mouse negotiating with the cat, he still dares to take a kickback!"
Gao Xin's eyes narrowed: "Because he's too selfish."
"Either because he's a veteran and the Japanese commanded him to bring out some redemption points or die trying."
"Or because... he's found an excellent hiding place and decided to try to haggle."
Meimei exclaimed: "You mean, he found a hiding area?"
Gao Xin said coldly: "That's the only explanation."
"So, from his perspective, success means he lives for sure, plus an extra 10 points."
"If he fails, it doesn't matter because he still has a good chance of surviving until the end by hiding, thereby getting 100 points."
The two immediately understood that the bald man was using this negotiation opportunity to add a layer of insurance for himself. If it failed, it'd be as if it never happened. After all, he wouldn't be at a loss, having already found the best place to hide.
Su Lei shouted: "But that screws us all over! All the mice have to pay for his actions!"
The people on the attic understood the old cat's advantage all stemmed from Silver Hand's own actions, the mice didn't have much to negotiate with, and yet the bald man even tried to get 10 points less, it was practically suicidal.
But it wasn't his own death he was seeking... it was the death of the other mice...
"Damn it, what do we do now? Should we find the bald man and ask him the location of the hiding area?" Su Lei said urgently.
Meimei ground her teeth: "If the bald man was willing to share, he would have told Gao Xin during the questioning. After all, by taking up the negotiation, he must have already found a hiding place."
Su Lei growled: "But he said nothing, the bastard! Now with the cat inside, who dares to negotiate?"
Meimei watched the field: "The man caught by Silver Hand might still have a chance to renegotiate."
Gao Xin kept his opinion to himself and continued to watch the events in the field unfold.
Meimei glanced at Gao Xin, noting that when he mentioned the bald man wanting to keep some redemption points for himself, what did he mean by "also"?
Gao Xin noticed her staring at him and glanced back without saying a word.
Meimei didn't pursue the matter and turned her attention back to the field.
The Silver Hand Youth burst into loud laughter: "A bunch of idiots, I get a hundred points for killing you, why would I want to earn ten less?"
The trembling man desperately pleaded: "It's that bald man who wants to give you 10 less, not me. I want to give them all to you, all of them! Don't kill me, I'll give you a hundred, please don't kill me."
The Silver Hand Youth sneered: "Could you give me two hundred points?"
"Ah?" The man was stunned: "I don't have redemption points, boss! I need to survive until the end to get the reward and give it to you... I wouldn't dare not give it to you, you could just kill me outright at the settlement."
The Silver Hand Youth laughed out loud: "Even if killing you gives me a hundred, sparing you also gives me a hundred, so why wouldn't I choose to kill you?"
"Ah?" The man was dumbfounded.
Simultaneously, all the mice secretly paying attention to the outside from within the mansion were baffled.
Who is this crazy person? Shouldn't any normal person think 'if killing is a hundred, sparing is also a hundred, then why kill at all'?
But this Silver Hand Youth seemed to have a completely opposite view, thinking 'if the profit is the same, why not choose to kill'?
"God damn, this is a monster!" Su Lei was tearing his hair out.
Meimei shivered; they were in the worst possible situation!
They'd encountered a lunatic who just wanted to hunt the mice!
What on earth is this island!
