Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Lok

Sun God Bloodline. Rank: SSR. Upon purchase, you will acquire the divine power of the sun and ascend to Supreme God status. Price: (100 million achievement points, 100 million potential points).

Superman Bloodline. Rank: SR. Upon purchase, you will become the almighty Superman. Price: (50 million achievement points, 50 million potential points).

"Damn, these two abilities combined would be overpowered!"

As usual, Lok was gazing at the two most expensive bloodlines in the store, dreaming of them.

The Sun God Bloodline was incredibly powerful, and combining it with the Superman Bloodline would make one invincible.

Lok reasoned that these two abilities together, if not multiplying in power, would at least add up to something incredible.

Each time he looked at these two bloodlines, Lok felt an incredible surge of motivation.

At the very least...

Viewing them gave him hope for immortality.

And as for the price?

Well, Lok wasn't afraid of how expensive these two bloodlines were; he was only afraid he didn't have that amount yet. But since the price was fixed, he was determined to save up the required amount, as his savings grew every day.

Lok didn't shy away from hard work.

But…

Name: Lok Broughton (The Only Player)

Potential Points: 3000 (can be used to level up skills).

Talents: Endurance (Level 3) (Your physical strength and recovery ability are significantly enhanced).

Current Missions:

Daily Mission: Trial Exam.

Rewards for Completing the Mission: 500 achievement points, 500 potential points.

Mission Note: You are the player. The only thing that can affect you is the reward, not feelings. Since you're a transfer student, whether you choose to become a scholar or a warrior is up to you.

"..."

"Hopefully, there will be more quests here in New York."

He needed more achievement and potential points, but the system didn't just hand out missions. To begin any mission, you needed to trigger it; that is, you had to activate it yourself, which was why Lok moved to New York.

In other words…

New York had crowds.

More people meant more quest triggers.

More quests meant more achievement and potential points Lok could earn.

Even gaining one achievement point meant he was one step closer to purchasing the Sun God Bloodline.

He had just transferred and already received a trial exam mission. At his old school, trial exams were given only once a semester, if that.

But this made sense.

His previous school could barely be called an educational institution, while this... was a quality high school.

His old school churned out low-level societal gears, while this new one produced elite members of society. Well... maybe not always.

Lok took his seat and glanced at his classmates—the difference from his Texas school was like night and day.

Just the level he expected from a New York school.

But...

Where's Spider-Man?

Isn't Spider-Man supposed to be from Midtown High?

Is he not in my version of the universe?

Suddenly, Lok blinked, noticing a blonde girl with a pretty face and a charming smile standing nearby.

Gwen Stacy.

Alright, alright, but where's Spider-Man?

Even Gwen was here, chatting happily with her best friend.

Gwen abruptly turned and looked at Lok, who quickly shifted his gaze elsewhere. Lok was dressed in a casual outfit, with short, slightly messy blonde hair. "Kim, who's that guy?.."

"Oh, him? He's a new transfer student from Texas, I think."

"Oh, got it."

"Hmm..." Gwen nodded thoughtfully, listening to her friend and, after a brief pause, stood up and headed toward Lok.

Lok raised an eyebrow as he noticed Gwen approaching.

"Hi," Gwen said, extending her hand with a smile. "I'm Gwen, your new classmate and the ninth-grade class president. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

"Lok!" He shook her hand. "Just transferred here. Thanks, Gwen."

"Oh, no problem! Just let me know if you need anything."

"Thanks, I will."

Gwen smiled and looked at the teacher who had entered, then quickly took her seat.

As the class president, it was her duty to help her classmates, newcomers included.

But…

She was curious about Lok's academic skills.

Gwen sat at her desk, watching Lok as he stood to introduce himself, under the guidance of the math teacher, with a blank expression.

Ten minutes later…

Once the teacher finished introducing the new student, the math teacher entered with an unimpressed look. "Alright, alright, since everyone's so happy, would you like to take a practice test?"

At these words, Gwen and the other students fell silent before letting out a collective groan, pleading for mercy.

A typical scene.

The school atmosphere in New York was exactly like back in Texas. It was identical—friends, acquaintances, exams.

But…

This particular test…

Lok raised an eyebrow, looking at the sheet of paper the teacher handed him.

He immediately understood the difference between his old Texas school and this "elite" New York school.

"Oh…"

The math teacher approached Lok, "Is something unclear?"

Lok looked at the math teacher and shook his head.

He had reincarnated into this world sixteen years ago and had long since adapted.

It's just…

"All for the rewards!"

"System, upgrade math!"

Ding!

Raising Math (Grade 8) to Math (Grade 9) will cost 1000 potential points. Confirm upgrade?

"Yes!"

Ding!

Upgrade successful. Enjoy!

Lok wasn't sure if he was enjoying it, but he felt a mix of emotions.

But…

Any self-improvement was an investment in the future.

His sea of consciousness filled with new knowledge, creating new memories and expanding his mathematical memory palace.

He looked at the paper again.

Piece of cake!

Life is a game.

If you can't enjoy it, it's pointless!
