Chereads / A unique love / Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

A week later, Violet was in her office when she heard her best friend come back into the cafeteria with a coffee, sighing.

- What's wrong with you again? Why this long sigh? She asked, taking the coffee out of his hands and replacing it with a glass of juice.

- I feel like my brother is sick.

- What do you mean? I think he's doing very well. He works like everyone else, maybe that's why you say that, do you think he's tired?

- No, I'm not talking about that. It's been a week and a half since he talked about taking care of this bastard and there's still no movement. He's going on with his life as if nothing had happened.

- And what did you want him to do? Hunt him down like a hunter hunting his prey? You know your brother well enough to know that he likes to torture his enemies and make them suffer by slowly attacking. So let him do it.

Layla stared at her curiously before smiling. It was the first time she had seen her friend so confident about her brother, which didn't happen often even when they were a couple, ten years ago.

- What? Violet asked, feeling his gaze on her.

- Did something happen between you?

- What are you talking about?

- I'm talking about the fact that for the first time since this case started again and my brother is back, you're on his side.

- Do I need to remind you that we already had an argument once?

- It's not a simple argument that would have changed you. Especially since it only took half a day for you to reconcile.

- What are you trying to tell me?

- I'm saying that I think something happened between you that brought you closer together. And I think I'm right, right?

- I don't know what you're talking about.

- Violet, you can't lie.

She put away her tray and came back to sit down, checking her watch.

- Well...we kissed twice, I confessed to him that I still loved him and after my declaration about the trust I have in him...no I don't know what you're talking about.

- There you go!

- Huh?

- Since your touching declaration about your incredible trust in him, you have a connection that puts you on the same wavelength.

- What are you talking about? There's nothing special between us.

- Well, let's see. And that's where you play innocent. Violet I know you still love him even if you try to push him away but there's no point in denying what's going on between you.

- I guess you're right. Anyway, I advise you not to be too curious and to let him do it.

She washed herself and took her by the arm to go back to work.

For his part, Dylan woke up abruptly, panting. He hadn't seen Violet all morning simply because he was still asleep when she left for work. He had decided to sleep in but he hadn't expected to wake up so abruptly with an erotic dream. Of course he hadn't made love for at least five years but dreaming of making love to Violet wasn't really the best way to wake up and start his day. He should have a clear head to think about his plan of attack against Violet's attacker and now he was dreaming about her, moaning under her powerful thrusts. Damn, what was happening to him? It wasn't sex that he was missing, it was Violet, he was sure of it. But he couldn't give in to his urges, he had to control himself even if he knew it would be very difficult.

A few hours later, Violet was back home and was surprised to see him lying on the couch in front of the TV.

- Good evening Cam. Didn't you go to work today?

- No.

His voice sounded absent as if he wasn't even paying attention to her presence. She stood in front of him and blocked his view of the TV.

- Are you okay? You seem absent to me.

- Yes I'm fine and you? Did you have a good day?

- Yes... could you at least look at me when you talk to me?

- Yes I look at you. And Layla how is it?

- She's fine. She thinks you're suffering because you don't react enough to attack the other crazy guy.

- That's all her. Always impatient. And you?

- Personally, I prefer to let you manage your business as you see fit and not interfere in it. I already have enough to do with my work. I saw that you made dinner. I didn't think you knew how to cook.

- Yes, there are still things you don't know about me.

- I see that.

He stared at her intensely as he stood up slowly. He got closer as she backed away especially because she looked troubled. And turns around abruptly to go up to his room.

- I'm going to bed. I've already had dinner, don't go to bed too late.

He disappeared from his field of vision. Isolate was so amazed by their brief and intense interaction that she wondered what was happening to him so that he suddenly became both distant and... disturbing. She called her friend in her room after dinner.

— In fact I think you're a little right, your brother is a little sick.

— Glad to see that you are on my side now but...what happened to make you change your mind?

—Your brother was weird tonight. He barely looked at me and intimidated me before becoming distant again.

— It means that something happened during the day that has something to do with you.

—And what would it be?

— I don't know but I think it could be something intimate.

— Do you think I should go talk to him?

— I think you should go to sleep and talk about it with him tomorrow.

—Very good, if you say so.

She hung up and went to bed with a certain apprehension for the next day.

But unfortunately, she had not had much time to talk to Cameron and he was very distant with her as if she represented the plague in person or that she had done something that had made him angry without even knowing it.

Three weeks passed. And for a weekend, while they were having lunch at his home, Cameron decided to break the silence with a very serious face.

— Cameron? How are you? What do you think of to look so dangerous?

— Three weeks ago, I suddenly woke up one morning because I had an erotic dream about the two of us.

It was certainly very direct but at least it was said. He stared at them in turn and then kept his gaze fixed on Violet. His sister cleared her throat for a moment before gently slipping away.

— What? Wait...can you repeat please? I'm afraid I didn't understand.

— On the contrary, you understood very well. It's rather that you refuse to imagine it.

— No...I...it's just that I...I can't believe that from you.

He approached her and her face.

— Violet, I know what you think, that I may be crazy or that maybe it was my imagination but no it's nothing like that and I can assure you that it was almost real and that it really happened.

— I don't doubt your words, only, I think you may not have mastered your emotions.

— Violet, once again, I know what you think. You think I'm in need of sex. This is not the case at all.

— So how can you explain the fact that you dreamed of the two of us making love.

— It's simple, I miss you.

A heavy silence settled between them and they stared at each other for a long time before she looked away.

— Don't you believe me?

— It's a little difficult not to believe you when you speak with so much seriousness and sincerity.

— I feel, (he got up and looked at her.) that you need time to digest what I just confessed to you so I'll leave you and go take care of some things.

— So you confess something like that to me and then you leave with the air of nothing. How am I supposed to take it?

— You should take it as a sign of respect from a man who is none other than your ex, who has just confessed to you indirectly or rather directly that he dreams of making love to you and yet holds back out of respect for you. Given your reaction, I think it would be better if I gave you some time, it's up to you to see how you want to use this information.

— Use?! (She exclaimed as she jumped up.) No but do you hear yourself talking? You say that as if you allowed me to use you.

He got closer to her and was now a few millimeters from her face.

— My heart belongs to you then if you are what you want, at your leisure.

It was his last word before leaving his home to return to work.
