Chapter 23 - Too Beautiful.

BAAANG!

My head smashed onto the wall, a blurry hazy glow seemed to revolve around me, the endless darkness slowly encroaching upon the walls of my mind.

I- i felt disoriented.

My surroundings in particular seemed to have turned against me.

My vision now awkward and broken.

It was as though i was seeing shards and fragments of various chaotic scenes.

A rivulet of chaotic colors soon swarmed over my vision.

A-nd for a second there, I thought i saw an illusory circle revolving around my head.

Soon, i lost control of my body and then, i collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud.

The endless darkness seemed to shift and morph, the shadows dancing across the walls, and then, after what felt like a lifetime.

I groaned slightly.

Soon, I rose to my feet.

And then, a terrible migraine assaulted my forehead.

I groaned.

Lightly caressing my forehead ever so slightly.

I rubbed it carefully, in an attempt to alleviate the blinding pain and the hazy dizziness that clung onto me.

I knew only a few minutes should have passed by.

B-ut still.

I felt aggrieved.

Angered even.

I wanted nothing more than to curse under my breath.

B-ut, i stopped at the last moment.

The words written in Amaera language did say to pass through the wall and had a weird music sign beside them.

But the wall here were almost endless and spanned across the entire house. So it was safe to assume thati had made use of the wrong one.

So in a sense, the walls weren't to be blamed.

And as for the music sign.

I could be less bothered about that.

As far as i can see, there isn't any sort of musical instrument in sight and really?

How can some sort of music open a hidden passageway.

That just feels... unreasonable, unbelievable even.

B-ut now.

A question clung at the edges of my mind.

How am i supposed to find the wall across this seemingly endless room.

Who knows how long that will take.

And to make matters worse, i don't even know where to start looking from.

As the passage could literally be anywhere.

I groaned, slightly aggrieved.

But soon, I regained my calm.

"...How bad can my luck possibly be."

I muttered.

A light smile tugging at the corner of my lips.

Since i am not sure of the precise wall that leads to the hidden passage, i might as well do well to put my hope on luck then.

And most importantly.

It seemed like the most appropriate thing to do in such a situation.

Not that i have any other choice anyway.

Sighing lightly.

And with a hint of determination sparkling within my eyes. I started touching the walls, kicking the walls, slamming onto the walls. I did everything i could as i moved through the vast room.

The endless darkness included.

And as if to make matters worse, the air reeked of what seemed to be a mixture of chlorine and blood turned obsolete and dark.

The endless shadows lingering just at the edges of my vision.

Cold chills ran down my spine as i took careful steps forward, while i continued with my ardous endeavour.

Slowly, my legs started to ache me and i still hadn't found the right path. And to make matters worse, for as far as my eyes could see. The walls lined the edges of the room, spreading for as far as the endless darkness could stretch to.

I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair.

Desperation and exasperation soon tugged at the walls of my mind as i let out a cold, deep exhalation.

I forced myself to forget about the seemingly uncomfortable walls and only focused on making a smooth, clean contact with each one of them.

I even considered looking for other clues while at it. Perhaps there were some few clues about which wall houses the hidden passageway. Yet so far so good, i had seen none. And yes, i finally understood just how bad my luck can get.

I had literally been searching for hours and for what seemed like...an eternity!

Yet i haven't found anything!

No clue to the precise wall that leads to the hidden passageway. Heck...i haven't even found the precise wall, and the fact that the walls still lined towards the end of the house sent a cold yet fiery rush of current surging through me.

'Where the fuck is the wall!'

I tugged at my hair, almost tearing it from my skull as bloodshot veins ran across my sclera. A yelp of pain surges through me, sending me staggering to my left.

In an attempt to stabilize my footing, my legs suddenly made a weird, intricate yet oddly familiar movements.

I-t...it was the same way the music i had played for Garren had flowed!

My eyes widened in shock.

...I finally understood what the music sign stood for.

My legs moved and trembled, shifting and dancing as i moved down the winding cobblestones.

Slowly, i could feel it.

Something was happening. The ground beneath my feet was trembling ever so slightly. I made one final step to my right. There, i could see: Marsiac- Music in Amaera language.

A faint, weak smile tugged at the edge of my lips as my hands moved towards the wall. The wall suddenly parted ways, almost as though it was being controlled by some unseen force.

I glanced around warily.

Yet i couldn't see anything. Not even the endless darkness and the lingering shadows that cling to supernatural forces.

I forced down the unease that clawed and gnawed at me. With a deep exhalation, and with hardened resolve, i stepped into the endless darkness. The wall behind me suddenly joined together, almost as though some invisible mechanism were at work.

The endless darkness spread for as fast as my eyes could see.

Shoving down the dread slowly settling within me. I walked froward, movie deeper into the depths of the endless darkness.

It soon reached a point where i couldn't even see my own hands or legs. I could see absolutely nothing, save for the cold feeling of unseen hands holding onto me and the odd feeling of being watched, by a silence. A desolate hollow silence that seemed alive!

I shuddered instinctively.

Fear coursing through every fiber of my being as i continued to walk forward.

Slowly, the endless darkness started to recede, it coated and thickened no more. The eerie feeling of being watched also suddenly vanished into thin air, a cold sense of relief washing over me.

I soon arrived before a large dark door.

'...This is it.'

What I have struggled so hard for was behind this door.

All i have to do is to take one more step.

Just one more step.

A weak, faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips as i opened the door, a desolate hollowness suddenly overwhelmed me.

A dusty, smoky-like particle floated across the air, swarming outward with horrific momentum.

I almost shrieked in fear.

My heart surging to my throat.

I only calmed down after realizing it was just dust.

Thickened dust.

Just how long must it have been for dust to become so thicken, smelly and cloying.

A cold chill ran through me as i glanced at my surrounding.

With a wary gaze.

I stepped forward.

Leaving the door open just in case of a mishap.

...In preparation for the worse.

'After all, you can never know just what might happen.'

A wry smile tugged at the corner of my lips as i slowly approached a glowing box. My hand went for the box, removing its lid. My eyes enthralled by the intricately designed object that defied human's comprehension.

It was beautiful.

Too beautiful.

I don't even know why, but tears slowly streamed down the corner of my eyes as my hand wrapped tightly around the necklace.

This was it.

The way to defeat the Amaraith and perhaps... something more.

I felt a odd, familiarity with the necklace, one which i couldn't really place my hands on- ok what it entails.

The more i tried to remember, the more it slipped from the tip of my fingers, floating into the endless darkness beyond.

Nevertheless, i didn't allow myself to get depressed because of that.

I knew well to appreciate every single moment i got in this cursed, and wretched land.

Now...i have the necklace.

I finally have the first thing that has a connection to my past.

It was but a single step to finding more about my past.

B-ut for now... it was more than enough.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips as i slowly adorned the necklace. Slow and careful, i wore the most beautiful thing i had seen in what seemed like...ages. Careful and cautiously, as though i was holding onto my most prized item, i wore the only clue i had to my past.
