"You boys started without me?" A beautiful familiar feminine voice attracted their attention.
They both turned their heads to see the source of the voice ireayo.
As if in a trance, they both smiled taking turns to greet her.
"What's up ire? you look as ravishing as ever." Ade started with the compliment.
" I'm good Ade. I see you've had quite a few drinks." Ire commented seeing ade's demeanor.
" Yeah but a few drinks can't do anything to me and besides we're celebrating here no limits." Ade replied causing all of them to laugh.
Ire was the first to recover from the laughter. Turning to Samuel she congratulated him. " Congratulations Samuel you deserve it. "
Smiling, Samuel replies "thanks you ."
She then hugs him giving Ade the questioning look.
'have you told him?'
Shaking his head sideways he replied
' no I told you when we finish drinking.'
Ire gives a frustrated look
' I don't want to be here when you tell him you stole the girl of his dreams.'
Ade shakes his head firmly denying what she said.
' I didn't steal if I didn't know and besides that girl was irresistible'.
She makes a cute face 'awwn .'
(If you're wondering, yes they just giving each other looks and surprisingly understanding each other)
Leaving the two love bird we see ini who is wondering why this hug is taking so long. He isn't too bothered as other things are going through his head.
' did she change her perfume?'
' it's new but it smells familiar '
*Sniff*
'its not the usual lavender ecter'
'its not her extreme rivan'
'its heavy but also light....almost like ...' hecs shocked realizing something.
'its...' his chain of thoughts were broken when he realized ire was pulling back so he released her so he wouldn't seem weird.
"I know you already took shots but now that I'm here we're going to take every single one again. " Ire declares carrying the air of a ruler.
They both bow saying
"Yes your majesty." They laughed when they both dodged her attempt to kick their legs.
She pouts in defeat taking the bottle and pouring the next set of shots in the shot glasses.
Ade turn to Samuel asking.
"Matter how many times she denied it she still sound like a ruler." He laughed
Samuel responding says " maybe it's from her lineage or past life."
They both squint their eyes at ire before laughing.
" Enough teasing. I have already told you I'm not royalty and no one from my family has ever been royalty , besides the only person here with royal heritage is Samuel." She says pointimg at a certain someone.
" Please let's not go there. Number one, that was in the past. Number two, my family was just one of the families that can produce a candidate for the throne and number three it's a small town not a kingdom so it doesn't count." Samuel says saying a little about his history.
Interrupting Ade says " why am I just hearing this and what's this about your family being one of the family competing for the throne.
Samuel sighs knowing he has to make his mouth move for a while. He downs his shot and starts " sorry I didn't tell you, i don't think its cool so i dont tell people. Ire only knows because I wrote a paper about it when we were in school and she snooped while helping me submit it..."
Cutting in, ire denies " I didn't snoop. I just wanted to compare or papers .."
Ignoring what she said he says " whatever. As I was saying, about the family stuff. In the old day, war was very rampant and a kingdoms rose and fell like waves of the sea."
" Wow really poetic." Ire commented chuckling.
" Well that's the way the story is meant to be told. If you didn't snoop you understand." Samuel scolds her. She pouts in response and allows him to continue
" It's common knowledge that leaders are usually targeted in battle. A kingdom without a king will fall. Lots of kingdoms before a war would send assassins to kill the royal family of the kingdom they are waging war against.
This is because most time this would lead to a civil war amongst the court or the kings subject which would in turn weaken the strength of the kingdom making capturing it an easy task.
They kill the king because of the reason I have stated and kill his family to end the lineage. Even servants aren't spared as one could be carrying an illegitimate child.
Although many kingdoms increased their security around the king, some still fell. This is because the assassins mostly disguise as regular people.
On two occasions they got the trust of the king, murdered him then fled.
Everyone used this tactic so everyone decided to look for a way to ensure that the death of a royal family doesn't mean the end of the kingdom.
So chiefs subjected to the current king then to pick some families that can replace the royal family upon death. This was a practice in the northern lands and it seemed to work well.
Although it sounded like a good idea, the king found a flaw. If he selected families that could replace him it could be a seed for disloyalty. After some thought he choose ten noble families. These families were rich, respected and loyal to the kingdom. He then declared that there won't be an order that the gods would be the one to decide where the next king comes from. He had the priest make a sacrifice and it was accepted by the gods.
Shortly after the king and his family was murdered and the era of noble families began.
That was five hundred years ago. It only remains three families. The rest joined the king."
" Whoa, that's a lot" Ade commented digesting all he heard.
" Yeah. There aren't any wars again so it's lost its meaning and is only a title. The fourth family head and the previous king died with no air. It was my grandfather who was chosen but he declined." Samuel says
" Really why?"
"Now that external wars do t happen internal wars for the titles happen meaning noble families kill each other. He said he doesn't want to get his family involved in violence especially because he is now a Christian and lots of the procedures a king must follow are sins."
"That's smart. " Ire comments
" When was the last time your family royalty?" Ade asks?
" That was my grandfather's great great grandfather. The only reason his lineage continues was because his first son had gone to a neighboring kingdom in search of a wife."
" Whoa, if he didn't then..." Ade made a whistling sound at the end of his sentence signifying death.
" Yeah, noble families encourage their members to travel. This is to make cutting off the family lineage difficult." Samuel says downing a shot in relief of finishing his explanation.
" Ok enough talking more drinking " ire says downing another shot.
They keep drinking, talking and laughing till six o'clock when ire shot Ade a questioning look. He then dropped his cup looking at Samuel.
" Bro, ire and I have something we want to tell you"ade says
Turning to them Samuel speaks " you two are dating" he shocks them both before downing another glass.
Still shocked Ade asks " when did you find out ?"
" When she hugged me I smelt your perfume" Samuel says
Ire puzzled asks " how do you know it was his and besides can't I borrow his perfume or buy it for myself?"
Chuckled he responds " if it were another one that could happen but this perfume is actually two in one. A combination of two expensive perfumes."
" What did you use it you told me you didn't like it?" Ade asks puzzled
" Well I'm teaching you that girls are unpredictable tables." Ire replies pouting
Ade sighs before turning to Samuel " we sorry we didn't tell you it would just make it seem weird if..."
" I get it no need to give me an epistle apology. I just wish you told me sooner so I could save my pep talks " Samuel said downing another drink
" Well if it makes you feel better your pep talks made me make the move ." Ade added
" Ok. When did you start dating?" Samuel asks
Reluctantly Ade answers " the night"
" Ohhhhh...." Samuels eyes gleamed thinking about smtn.
" Whatever let's just drink" Samuel pours three shots, they each take one to make a roast " to you guys" they dwones thero drinks and kept chatting.
Samuel seemed unbothered by the fact that they are dating but they both know it's all an act. It makes them feel even more bad knowing he is acting so they could be together. They could only respect his wishes and behave as if nothing was wrong.
After an hour or so ire bid farewell to Samuel and dragged the passed out Ade to his car driving away.
Samuel stayed behind to clear his head a bit before going home. " I lost the girl hahahaha. " After clearing his head he says to him self " at least it won't happen again " thinking of his job.
Just then the waitress came to him. He looked at her " we've paid the bill how can I help you "
Instead of answering his questions she just laughs " hahahaha, Samuel, Samuel, Samuel. I have been watching you for a while."
Realizing things are getting a bit weird he clung unto his remaining sanity asking "what are you talking about." He then realized she had a hot aura around her making him feel heat.
" Who could believe I'll be so lucky to find one here duringu punishment" she ignores him talking to her self. She faces him again saying.
"You're ripe my boy and I'll be the one to eat you. Hahaha don't worry it won't be painful." She starts laughing scaring Samuel
