The battle outside Konoha didn't last long. Against Uchiha Madara, simply raising a kunai in defiance could be considered an impressive feat.
Out of the 28 ninjas from various villages, none escaped. With the assistance of the village's defensive ninjas, they were all captured and brought back to Konoha.
Outside the Hospital
Reiki had just finished treating the last of the injured patients and was heading toward the Hokage's office to meet Namikaze Minato. As he stepped out of the hospital, he was met with an unexpected sight: Uchiha Madara, flanked by a group of bound and battered prisoners.
"Sir Madara?" Reiki asked, surprised.
"These are ninjas from other villages," Madara said with a smirk. "They were lurking outside Konoha, so I invited them as guests. What do you think? Should I let you handle their treatment?"
Reiki couldn't help but chuckle. "Of course," he replied, amused by Madara's unique take on hospitality.
Soon, Iga Tsuna arrived and arranged for the 28 captives to be transferred to special holding areas. The hospital, already overwhelmed with patients, wasn't equipped to handle them.
By nightfall, Reiki had treated the captives multiple times and gathered some key information. The group consisted of seven teams—two each from Kumogakure, Sunagakure, and Kirigakure, with one team from Amegakure. The inclusion of Amegakure surprised him.
"Is Hanzō of the Salamander stirring up trouble again?" Reiki muttered to himself. However, he chose not to dwell on it. Instead, he went directly to the Hokage's office to report to Namikaze Minato.
In the Hokage's Office
"What are they trying to achieve?" Minato sighed, rubbing his temples. It had been just over a month since he became Hokage, and problems seemed to arise one after another.
"They want to intimidate us," Reiki replied. "Most likely, they're trying to force Konoha to loosen its grip on the potion trade. At the same time, they're fearful of Konoha's growing power. Hokage-sama, I think it's wise to prepare for potential escalation."
Minato nodded, his expression grave. "Do you have any suggestions, Reiki?"
"Not really," Reiki admitted. "Wars are decided by those in leadership. As medical ninjas, our job is to ensure the survival of our people. Let the decision-makers handle village politics."
His tone was matter-of-fact. The recent aggression from other villages stemmed from Konoha's current dominance, which had left its rivals feeling cornered and desperate. While Konoha might suffer some losses in the short term, its strength ensured that the village would endure.
At that moment, Shisui appeared in the office. "Hokage-sama, Lady Tsunade, Lord Orochimaru, Lord Jiraiya, and Lord Uchiha Madara are waiting outside."
"Let them in," Minato said, motioning for Shisui to bring them.
The four entered, their expressions as sharp and focused as ever.
"You're all here about the recent issues in the ninja world, aren't you?" Minato asked directly.
"Indeed," Orochimaru replied. "The Sanada Chamber of Commerce, which has ties to Konoha, was attacked. Medical supplies intended for Konoha were intercepted. And Konoha's own ninjas have faced escalating attacks on missions. I think it's time for Konoha to respond."
Tsunade nodded. "Orochimaru is right. Konoha's patience and diplomacy are being mistaken for weakness. If they want trouble, we should give it to them. Yesterday, I received reports that Kirigakure ninjas have infiltrated the Land of Fire. They're likely preparing for something bigger."
Jiraiya spoke next. "Minato, you're Hokage now. You can't afford to hesitate. If we don't act decisively, the situation will spiral out of control."
Finally, Uchiha Madara spoke, his words brief but commanding: "Fighting is my specialty. Just say the word."
Minato, bolstered by the collective resolve of his allies, felt his own determination solidify. "Which village should we target first?"
"Sunagakure," Orochimaru suggested immediately. "Their strength is currently the weakest, and they've been actively participating in these provocations. If we start with them, it will send a strong message."
Minato considered the suggestion for a moment before nodding. "Prepare a combat plan targeting Sunagakure. Let's move swiftly."
After the Meeting
As they left the Hokage's office, Tsunade turned to Reiki. "What do you think about this operation? You've always been insightful."
Reiki smiled. "I don't have much to say because the outcome is almost certain. Konoha is far stronger than the other villages realize. Their mistake is thinking they can intimidate us. They'll learn the hard way."
He continued, his tone confident, "With Madara-sama, the Sannin, Hokage Minato, Hatake Sakumo, and others, Konoha's power rivals what it was at its founding. If these villages want to challenge us, we'll respond with force—and they'll regret it."
Tsunade nodded thoughtfully, realizing that Reiki's calm confidence stemmed from an accurate assessment of Konoha's might.
The message was clear: Konoha was done tolerating provocations. It was time to remind the world why the Hidden Leaf was the most formidable village in the ninja world.
