By noon the next day, Reiki slowly opened his eyes and sat up from the soft bed, exhaling deeply.
"Crunch..."
The door opened, and the noble and elegant Miko Maitreya entered the room.
"Lady Maitreya," Reiki said, quickly getting out of bed, feeling somewhat awkward despite being only nine years old.
"It's all right," Maitreya said with a gentle smile. "Thank you, Reiki, for your treatment yesterday. Without it, I might not have survived sealing the demon this time." She held out her hand.
Reiki raised his own hand to accept what she was offering.
"Boom..."
As their hands touched, a powerful energy surged through him.
"This is..." Reiki looked at the magatama symbol now imprinted on his palm, his face filled with curiosity.
"This is my forbidden power," Maitreya said. "I believe that in your hands, it will be used well. I have a backup, so don't worry about me using it for the seal."
She bowed deeply. "Please, Reiki, continue to aid me in this battle."
"Lady Maitreya, there's no need for such formality. We accepted this mission and will do our utmost," Reiki said, gently helping her stand.
After their brief exchange, Reiki went to find Hatake Sakumo and the others.
"This boy... he will change the entire ninja world," Maitreya whispered to herself with a smile, before turning to make the final preparations in the ancestral hall.
When Reiki returned to the residence, he found his teammates waiting.
"Miko-sama's condition has been healed," Reiki announced, showing them the magatama mark on his hand.
"This is?" Hatake Sakumo asked, puzzled.
"A Forbidden Mark!" Nozuki gasped. "Lord Maitreya entrusted you with her forbidden power?"
Reiki nodded. "With this, I should be able to neutralize and suppress the demon's chakra during treatment. But that means I won't be fighting on the front lines."
Everyone went silent for a moment.
"Ahem..." Reiki coughed, slightly embarrassed by the silence.
"So, what do you need us to do?" Shisui asked, giving Reiki a knowing look.
"We can guess what you're thinking, Reiki," Nozuki added with a smirk. "You're not in this alone."
Hatake Sakumo, though confused, followed their gaze and looked at Reiki with a mix of exasperation and humor.
"All right," Reiki admitted. "Many ninjas here have been affected by the sprite's chakra. First, I'll need to treat them in Fengcheng. And with the power Miko-sama gave me, I won't be directly fighting. You'll need to help protect me and move the injured to me."
"In other words, we'll be running errands while you do your thing," Nozuki summarized, rolling her eyes.
Reiki could only laugh sheepishly.
"Let's stick to the mission," Hatake Sakumo interjected. "Nozuki, Shisui, and I will support Reiki and protect him. We'll adjust strategies as needed."
Sakumo's leadership shone through as he analyzed potential challenges and outlined alternative plans.
With their strategy set, Reiki stepped outside.
"Where are you going now?" Sakumo called after him, curious.
"To set up a treatment station," Nozuki said with a sigh. "That's just who he is."
Shisui added, "Better get ready, Sakumo-sama. Here's some practice potions from Reiki's stash. Use them—there's plenty more."
He handed Sakumo several bottles, which he and Nozuki began using to refine chakra.
Sakumo watched in awe as his team trained with an abundance of resources, tirelessly pushing their limits.
"With talent, hard work, and resources like these... even a pig could become powerful," Sakumo muttered, smiling as he joined their training.
Meanwhile, on the busy streets of Fengcheng, Reiki had set up his station. His reputation as Tsunade's direct disciple preceded him, and soon ninjas began lining up.
"1,000 yen per treatment—it's practically free!" one of them exclaimed, spreading the word. In no time, the line grew as more arrived, eager for Reiki's medical expertise.
"What's going on here?" a ninja asked, joining the crowd.
"A kid from Konoha is offering treatments. He's Tsunade's direct student, and his talent supposedly surpasses hers. Wouldn't you line up for that?"
The line kept growing, fueled by word of mouth and the testimonies of those he healed.
