Early the next morning, Reiki was the first to reach the training ground, eager to see who else would show up after yesterday's intense training. Unsurprisingly, only three groups had the strength—or the courage—to return.
One of these was the team led by Nawaki, who had been thrilled when the girl he liked finally acknowledged him after his performance in training. Fueled by this new encouragement, he was determined to keep pushing forward. Then there was Minato's team, comprised of Namikaze Minato, Akimichi Choza, Yamanaka Inoichi, and Nara Shikaku, led by Minato himself. Finally, there was an unexpected arrival: a group of four Uchiha clan members, who hadn't attended training yesterday. Driven by the Uchiha's pride, they saw this harsh training as a challenge worthy of their clan.
As Reiki took in the scene, Jiraiya appeared, leaping down onto the training ground with a wide grin. "Alright, let's get started!" he called out.
"Minato, you ready?" Jiraiya asked with a smirk.
"Yes, Sensei. But be prepared!" Minato replied confidently, throwing several kunai across the field. Reiki's eyes widened—Minato had mastered the basics of the Flying Thunder God technique already! This promised to be a fascinating match.
Minato vanished, reappearing right behind Jiraiya in an instant. Jiraiya barely had time to block Minato's punch. "This speed…!" Jiraiya muttered, realizing Minato had a firm grasp of space-time ninjutsu.
Minato continued his assault, expertly utilizing the Flying Thunder God technique to keep Jiraiya on his toes. But soon, Jiraiya saw an opening in Minato's technique. His movements were too predictable, and his teleportation points were too few. In an instant, Jiraiya feinted, then landed a powerful punch to Minato's stomach.
"Flying Thunder God is powerful, but your usage still has weaknesses," Jiraiya explained, hammering the point home with another flurry of punches, each blow transforming Minato's face into a bruised mess. "Consider this a lesson!"
The rest of Minato's team watched in horror as their usually composed friend was reduced to a nearly unrecognizable state.
"Maybe… we should reconsider," Choza muttered, his confidence wavering.
"No chance!" Jiraiya's voice boomed as he closed in, his shadow stretching ominously across the group. His toads materialized alongside him, ready to assist.
In a matter of minutes, Minato's entire team lay scattered across the field, defeated.
After the smoke cleared, Reiki led Kakashi, Obito, and Guy to the field, rushing to administer first aid. Meanwhile, Nawaki's team looked on nervously. One of the chunin turned to Nawaki. "Are you sure we should do this? Jiraiya seems even harsher today."
Nawaki steeled himself, looking towards the girl who had cheered him on yesterday. "We're going," he said firmly, stepping forward with a determined gleam in his eye. Within minutes, his team joined the others on the bed of defeat.
Now it was Uchiha's turn. The four Uchiha clan members—Uchiha Shu, Uchiha Kishi, Uchiha Nabai, and Uchiha Natsume—stepped up confidently, their pride unwavering. Each activated their Sharingan, and three-tomoe Sharingan eyes stared at Jiraiya with intensity.
"Let's go, Jiraiya-sama!" Uchiha Shu announced, launching a powerful Fire Release jutsu. The scorching flames spread across the training ground, but when the smoke cleared, Jiraiya stood unfazed. Without a moment's pause, the two Uchiha behind Shu released a Thunder Release jutsu in tandem, sending crackling bolts of lightning in Jiraiya's direction.
But Jiraiya wasn't calling on his usual toads this time; he knew the Uchiha's genjutsu could affect any summoned creatures. He relied solely on his own skills, weaving through their attacks with ease. This battle lasted longer than the previous ones, but eventually, the Uchiha team found themselves exhausted and outmatched.
Uchiha Shu caught his breath, then nodded respectfully at Jiraiya. "Jiraiya-sama, your strength is undeniable. But we'll be back tomorrow." He smiled with pride—after all, they were still standing, a testament to their Uchiha resilience.
But Jiraiya shook his head. "You fought well, but remember—this is combat training, not just endurance."
With lightning speed, Jiraiya closed the distance, and the four Uchiha barely registered his movement before they each felt a sharp blow and fell to the ground unconscious.
When the dust settled, Reiki and his friends were back in action, tending to yet another round of casualties. As he worked, Reiki couldn't help but marvel at Jiraiya's fierce training style, one that pushed everyone to their absolute limits.
The Uchiha might have come in standing, but like everyone else, they left the training ground in need of medical care. Jiraiya had made sure of that.
