The girl had made it to the exit once before, during one of her early reincarnations. However, she never managed to make it out of the underground prison.
Two knights were stationed to guard the exit, even though there was no chance that any of the children would be able to escape their prison cells, they still had to be cautious. Who knows if a child might suddenly rebel one day. And that day just so happened to be today?
The knights were surprised to see the child there. Of course they were, she was just a child. There was no way she could have made it all this way so calmly without putting up a fight or alarming any of the other knights on duty.
In fact, there was simply just no way for her to have made it all this way in the first place. The other knights would have returned her to her cell, or even killed her on sight. So how come this little girl is standing right in front of the two knights guarding the exit? How did she even know where the exit was?
Whenever they brought in a new child from the outside, they would always knock them out before bringing them in, and usually jolt them awake by burning the mark of a slave on them.
To make this situation even more confusing, the girl seemed to be leaving a blood trail behind her. But it didn't seem like her blood.
The knights were severely confused. That caused their lapse in their judgment and they were too late to respond to the rebellious child. They should have either called for another knight to take her away, or even killed her as soon as they saw her, but they simply just stared at her for a moment too long.
That's how they ended up dead. The girl never ended up holding back her powers again. She simply just let them freely explode out of her, attacking anyone and everyone nearby. The knights were no different.
A new, fresh pair of corpses littered the ground beneath her feet, and as she paid no heed to the blood on the soles of her bare feet, she took a step forward. Then another. Then another. And another again.
With each step she took, the higher up she went, and the closer to the exit and to freedom she got.
Until eventually, she halted.
