Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: of Lightning and Landmines

There was the crackling sound of lightning as suddenly I gained my vision and opened my eyes to see the hot, midday, sun. I felt the sand beneath my body. It felt cold and crunchy. I sat up and gazed around my surroundings. Palm trees we're at my left and right, and straight ahead were the bright blue waves of the ocean. I got up and stretched myself out. My mind was in a haze after being temporarily dead. I got to my feet and limbered up.There was a strange bubbling noise coming from the water. It was as if something was laying dormant. I figured that maybe Plasmeus wanted me to walk over to it, why else would he put me on that specific spot? So I walked over to the water and was met with pretty much, the strangest creature I had even seen so far, a gigantic, 7 foot tall, fly flew out of the water and grabbed me by the leg with its mouth before swimming back deep into the depths of the ocean!I opened my mouth to try to scream only to find cruddy saltwater, rushing down my throat. I was panicking. If I were to try and use my lightning attacks, I'd end up most likely shocking myself due to being underwater. And if I didn't end up killing the creature with my lightning, there would still be a chance it would be able to attack me again after I'd be shocked. Still, it seemed to be the best solution, since if I were to kick it, it most likely wouldn't get anything done and waste energy. So I tried to shoot out a blast of lightning at the fly....nothing.There was no lightning coming out of my hands. My only guess as to why was plasma magic was useless underwater. That made me panick way more and I flailed and tried to struggle to get away from the fly's grasp but to no avail. Finally, I stomped down on the fly's left eye with my free leg. The eye exploded and sprayed green blood everywhere. The fly released me from its mouth almost immediately. Turns out kicking it would work. Once I was free from the creatures maw, I swam up as quickly as I could.I wasn't focusing on anything else but swimming upwards, I got an adrenaline rush. I was not going to die today, especially not from some water. Finally, I managed to shoot out of the ocean and land back on the beach. I turned away from the water and began throwing it up onto the sandy ground. It felt very, very disgusting and uncomfortable. Suddenly, I heard the sound of rapid bubbling from behind me, and it was a good thing I did, for the instant I turned around the fly flew out of the water and divebombed at me and I managed to just barely jump out of the way. If I was a second later in turning around, I would've been dead meat for sure. The fly crashed into the beach, sending sand everywhere and into my eyes. I quickly wiped the sand from my eyes. The fly charged at me once again, and once again I dodged. This time the fly struck a tree and appeared stuck. I took this as my chance to strike and raised my hand over to its head and tried to shoot out a beam of lightning, but to no avail. My hands were still wet from the underwater encounter, of course my lightning abilities wouldn't work. The fly planted its feet and rooted the tree out of the ground, before throwing it at me. I ran into the jungle as the tree smashed into the the building behind and broke apart. The fly began racing towards me, it's sharp mandibles snapping right at my back, i continued running and running for my life till I came to a Boulder with a stick on it. I grabbed the stick, turned around, and thrusted it into the fly's other eye. The eye exploded and the creature released a loud cackling sound and began spewing out huge beams of water from its mouth. I quickly jumped behind the boulder to dodge the large bursts of water. Eventually fly flew away. After a minute or so of making sure the coast was clear, I left from the boulder and went around to look for snidely. He was also put on the island with me if my memory recalled. I needed to find him. That much was certain. After a while of looking, I eventually gave up and sat down on a tree. I remembered earlier during the battle of the beach, I felt like I needed to investigate the strange bubbling. Maybe that was because everything else looked normal that my mind just took hold of something strange like the bubbling. By that same logic Snidely must also be in a similar situation to the one I was in earlier, assuming that is how Plasmeus's mind works. If snidely was in a similar situation to what I was in one thing is for certain, he would've made noise. I couldn't hear anything though. There was just an eerie silence. Suddenly, the silence was cut by a loud explosion off in the distance! I staggered back when I heard the Explosion briefly before I ran off to it. As I was getting closer and closer to the explosion, I could hear somewhat mechanical noises. Did a robot create the explosion? I soon got that answer for when I finally came across the explosion I was met by an almost human figure. I say almost because of two very distinct abnormalities that made it different to a normal human. instead of normal human arms, it's arms were grey colored and metallic. And instead of a normal face, it's face had nothing but a mouth that looked like a waste shredder. The figure raised it's arms at me and before I even had time to gasp, it's arms shot off of its body and rocketed towards me! My instincts kicked in and I jerked my body to the side and the robotic arms missed me and they plunged themselves deep into the sand. Suddenly, both of the arms exploded and I let out a scream as flames and sparks completely covered me and sent me rocketing into a tree. I spat out blood and tried to get to my feet, my head was throbbing like crazy and my vision was getting extremely blurry.I could just barely see the robot in front of me. At least the explosion had dried my hands though, meaning I could use lightning again. I heard rapid footsteps from my right before suddenly being tackled to the ground. My vision cleared, and I grew to be very much delighted that I was tackled, since the giant fly from earlier had rammed into the tree from behind and made it break in half like a pitiful twig. I turned over and saw that the person who had tackled me was in fact, Snidely Pines. His hair was ruffled and his legs were covered with scrapes and burns. He was certainly doing a lot better than me, that much was for sure. Snidely got off of me and raised me to my feet.  The fly flew into the air and made a gargling sound in its mouth. Then, it shot out a beam of water at us! Luckily, I was ready for this and I shot out a beam of lightning, the two attacks met and resulted in a huge ball of steam followed by a loud hissing noise. The fly let out a series of rapid buzzes, clearly being agitated, before turning to the robot. The robot raised its socket over to the bits and pieces of scrap that were once its arms. I watched in awe an confusion as the peices reassembled into arms and retreated into their sockets. All In one singular motion. The robot then ran over and hopped on the fly's back. Me and Snidely groaned in unison. The robot rode the fly towards us. Me and Snidely ran deeper into the woods. The duo chasing us were able to keep up really well. But that was to be expected when one of them could pretty much see in 360 vision, and another was a robot. The fly shot out a rapid bursts of water blasts. Amazingly all the blasts missed and had instead toppled down a few trees ahead of us which slowed us down a bit. The robot fired off its arms again but this time I was prepare dinner for it, I grabbed one of the robotic arms and threw it back at the robot. Then I kicked the other arm away from me and Snidely. The arm exploded a foot away from the robot, the resulting shockwave knocked the robot off balance and it fell about 20 feet down and impaled itself on the top of a stray tree. The fly shot out another beam of water. It was a direct hit as it struck me and sent me flying into the air for a few seconds. I landed with a hard thud, completely and utterly exhausted. And now I couldn't use my lightning anymore. The fly slammed into me at very high speeds. I shrieked as it felt akin to getting tackled by a football player, a very spiky and smelly football player. I saw a sharp rock a foot away from me. I grabbed the rock and slammed it into the creature's left leg. There was a disgusting cracking sound as the fly's leg broke off. Thick, Yellow blood sprayed from the creature's leg and it let out a sickly chatter before releasing me and going back into the air. I weakly turned my neck over and looked at snidely. An idea appeared in my head. "hey Snidley take this rock and teleport over to the bug and finish it off " I coughed, raising the Snidely pondered for a moment, and then he took the rock from my hand and faced the fly. And then.....nothing. He just stood there. Why wasn't he teleporting? Snidely cursed and threw the rock on the ground. " I guess I can only teleport if it's something I've touched before." He muttered, sourly. I sighed and picked myself up. It was in that moment I noticed that the robot that was impaled on the tree had managed to pick itself up and it backflipped off of the tree and onto the fly. The fly charged down at snidely. Snidely just stood there, like he was frozen. I couldn't believe it. He was just standing there. Then at the last possible moment, when the fly was so close to him that its beating wings were ingrained into his mind, he tapped the fly on the head before teleporting away. The fly crashed into the ground. The robot turned to me and launched out with a flying kick directly at my head. I ducked and the robot struck the ground with such sheer force, it created a dent in the ground. The robot then shot out its arms at me. I wasn't able to dodge this time and ended up getting punched in the face, and sprawling to the ground. Then there was the inevitable explosion and just like last time, my body was covered in flames and sparks and I was launched into the air. The flames quickly faded away. My face was bleeding heavily and it hurt just to move. Still, I had to do something. I had to win this fight. I was not going to be killed by some random abomination of a robot. I grabbed the insect leg that I had removed from the fly minutes earlier and threw it at the robot. Pitiful, I know but I had to do something to at least be a minor pestilence to the robot. The robot devoured the bug leg in its grinder mouth. It took less than a second for it to devour the entire leg. The robot lumbered towards me and with each step, my heartbeat sped up by quite a bit. Until eventually the robot stopped in its tracks. It clicked and whirred. Yellow, insect blood erupted from its mouth and it began radiating heat. Then the robot fell to its knees before its chest exploded, sending sparks and metal everywhere. I couldn't believe that I was alive. My only guess as to why was the blood was so thick it clogged up the robot's cogs and wires. Then there was a loud and monotone buzzing noise coming from up above. I instantly recognized the sound was from the fly, and I barrel rolled over to a nearby tree. And climbed up it. It was a good thing too, for as soon as I reached the tree. The fly crashed into the ground with all its might and the ground began shaking violently. The ground was shaking with such force I almost fell right off of the tree. I couldn't help but think about where Snidley was. tEventuall, the ground stopped reverberating, and the creature just stood still. At first, I was a little bit confused but then I noticed that its hind legs and stomach were mutilated from the attack. An increasingly growing pool of blood poured from its wounds. Out of the corner of my right eye, I saw Snidley, dazed and confused from the attack waddling like he was on his eight bottles of Heineken slowly lumbering over to the fly, the rock was raised over his head. It was quite clear what he was going to do. Suddenly I heard a cracking noise from the bug. I turned to it to see the pool of blood it lied in begin to decrease along with its legs cracking into place. It was regenerating! Snidley was still walking towards the fly. I had to stop him. But I was tired. I raised my hand out to him and yelled out a weak: "No...dont do it Snidley" Snidley of course did not hear me and he continued his walk. Well either that or he just didn't care what I was saying and he was just too prideful of himself. Either way, he'd be killed judging by how quickly the fly was regenerating. All except a single leg we're fully healed and its wings began slowly flapping. Snidely lumbered directly over to the creature and...lightly tapped it on the head? I was confused, to say the least but still happy that he didn't provoke it, that would've led to his immediate death for sure. After he touched the fly, Snidely turned around and ran off, which was a good thing to do since the fly kicked out one of its legs at where he once stood. It was just a hare's breath too slow. I turned to see where he was running and gasped in alarm when I realized where he was, he was heading for a cliff! The fly turned to me and buzzed loudly before blasting a stream of water right at me and I instinctively climbed up the tree. The powerful jet of water, hit the bottom part of the tree and it shattered like glass, sending little bits of wood everywhere. Since the tree now had no bottom, it began to shake violently and I struggled to hold on for dear life. The tree quickly fell directly on top of the fly, making blood spewed from its stomach like lave spewing from a volcano. The collision was so powerful I lost my grip on the tree, and I fell to the hard ground, headfirst. I screamed in pain and slowly got to my feet. I locked eyes directly with the fly. It began buzzing so violently it was hurting my ears and practically driving me insane. I remembered snidely, and that I should probably go stop him for jumping off the cliff, And I turned around and practically sprinted towards snidely. As I ran further away , I expected the buzzing noise of the fly to get quieter, instead it only got louder and louder. It didn't take a genius to know what was happening, the fly had managed to escape the tree, and it was heading straight for me. I didn't even have to turn around to know that, it was a constant reminder as with each step I took, I could hear the fly's buzz increase ten fold. When I finally reached Snidely, he was on the verge of the cliff and about to jump. I reached out for him. It was now or never. Before I could even lay a finger on him, Snidely jumped. I stopped in pure shock witnessing Snidely jump to his death. That appeared to be a bad idea, as the already dangerously close fly, was close enough and it rammed its head directly into me and I went soaring over the cliff. I screamed as I fell, then I screamed again as the fly's legs rubbed up against me. I remembered hearing about how flies would usually eat liquid foods, but when they eat solid foods they would rub them until they dissolve into a liquid. Gross for sure. I looked down at Snidely. He was holding the rock over his head as he was falling faster and faster down onto the rocky shore. He was getting closer and closer but right when he was about to make impact, he disappeared from view. A look of pure comprehension flashed across my face. followed by a wet squishing noise and the fly convulsing violently. It was quite the struggle grasping on to the fly. I began losing grip and was about to fall when a hand grabbed me, I looked up to see who saved me and it was in fact Snidely. I noticed he completely Covered in from head to toe in yellow fly blood. Snidely hoisted me up on top of the creature and I saw that the rock he was holding when he was falling was now right between the fly's eyes. I was confused by the whole scene for a bit, then it clicked. When snidely touched the fly he could teleport to it whenever he wanted, after that the fly was still way stronger than him so snidely simply jumped off the cliff and when he gained enough speed, he teleported back to the fly and used the built up speed to slam the rock into it's skull....Metal. The fly's skull was battered and bleeding. It appeared to be barely alive judging from its constant twitching and gurgling noises. I'd almost feel bad for the thing had it not tried to kill me on multiple occasions. a lot of yellow blood was spraying from its wound like a fountain, as the fly began its descent, slowly at first, then it started falling faster and faster. "Uhhh Snidely? Maybe you should teleport now" I told snidely, anxiously. "In a moment" he replied, smiling. What was wrong with him?  We were falling faster and faster. My vision went blurry and the wind was rushing by us so violently, it began to fade out my rapidly beating heart.  We kept plummeting further and further down the cliff side, and were growing ever closer to crashing into the sharp rocks below. Snidely grabbed me by the neck and began strangling me while at the same time screaming: "You will die Luke Sared!" Over and over again. He had gone mad! His eyes were a bright white and his voice sounded like that of an old woman. I elbowed him in the chest over and over but his grip was still on my neck. My vision began to fade and I felt myself slowly giving up on life. "DIE LUKE SARED!" Snidely shouted with such intensity, that it shook me to my very core and I practically broke my eardrums. Snidely began screaming incoherently as he continued strangling me. We were falling closer and closer to the sharp androcks, and right when we were less than an inch away from the rocks, we disappeared and ended up back in Plasmeus's office, a very pissed off Hollyhocks staring us down.
