Kikyo then introduced Kalluto to Ron.
"Ron, this is Kalluto, your younger cousin. He's three years old."
"Good evening, Kalluto."
The four of them took their seats, while several maids stood by the door.
"Let's begin," Silva said, picking up his chopsticks and gesturing for Ron to do the same.
Zeno, Illumi, Milluki, Killua, and Alluka were not present. The atmosphere in the dining room felt slightly odd to Ron. After glancing around, he pinpointed the source of this unusual vibe—it came from Kikyo. This made him recall what he knew of Kikyo from the original story.
A woman from Meteor City, she was unlike most people who left that infamous place. Instead of becoming a butler or a maid at the Zoldyck estate, she became Silva's wife and the matriarch of the Zoldyck family. She even bore Silva several children. Among the many people who managed to leave Meteor City, Kikyo could easily be considered one of the most successful.
However, Kikyo's personality was quite peculiar. Ron remembered that, in the original story, when Killua injured Kikyo, she wasn't angry—instead, she was proud. And with Kalluto, though he was clearly a boy, she dressed him as a girl. Just like now: Kalluto, at a glance, looked entirely like a little girl.
"Uncle Silva, Aunt Kikyo, I've finished my meal."
"Wait for me in the courtyard for a moment. There's something else I'd like to discuss with you."
"All right."
The two made their way to the courtyard.
"Ron, you've been learning under your great-grandfather, and in many respects, I'm no match for him. However, your great-grandfather can't teach you everything down to the smallest detail."
"I also have my own insights and experiences regarding Nen."
"For Nen users, while Hatsu abilities are indeed significant, it doesn't mean that other aspects should be overlooked."
"Mastery of the basics is equally essential."
"Also, as for one's aura type, we should regard it as a reference point."
"It simply means that when developing our Hatsu, we should use our own aura type as a guideline."
"But in other aspects, it's perfectly fine to consider other types as well."
"Even if you aren't an Enhancement type, you can still use aura to strengthen your body."
"Moreover, your mental fortitude and willpower are just as crucial."
"When developing abilities, combine aspects from other types if you find them logical and suitable."
"Being too confined can sometimes be a disadvantage."
"A defining trait of Nen users is potential."
"Abilities with greater potential are ultimately stronger."
Ron was already aware of this point Silva was making. In the original story, Hisoka criticized Kastro, telling him he had gone down the wrong path. Despite being an Enhancer, Kastro had developed a Manipulation and Conjurations type- ability, which Hisoka considered inefficient. Because of this, Hisoka was disappointed in Kastro and killed him.
This conversation led to some misconceptions among fans. Many thought Nen users should pursue their abilities strictly within their own type: Enhancers should purely focus on Enhancement, Manipulators on Manipulation, and so on.
However, this isn't entirely accurate.
Hisoka's advice wasn't wrong, but it didn't mean one should be limited to their primary type. Developing one's Hatsu in alignment with one's aura type indeed brings out maximum strength, allowing a "half the work, double the result" effect.
Yet, integrating elements of other types can be effective.
Take Netero's abilities, for example. His Hatsu included aspects of both Conjuration and Emission.
Or Franklin's abilities from the Phantom Troupe, with his "Double Machine Gun" technique.
Franklin is primarily an Emission type Nen user. Yet, his "Double Machine Gun" also incorporates Conjuration aspects—Franklin conjured gun barrels at the ends of his fingers.
By aura type theory alone, this approach could be seen as a waste of aura.
However, another principle comes into play here—restrictions and vows.
Franklin's technique involves both restrictions and vows.
Not only did Franklin's technique not waste any aura, but it actually enhanced the power of his Nen bullets.
Another example is Kite, Ging Freecss's disciple.
Kite's Crazy Slots ability, specifically number 4, also incorporated aspects of both Conjuration and Emission.
In the original story, when Gon developed his abilities, he didn't limit himself solely to Enhancement.
Gon's ability, "Rock, Paper, Scissors," includes three types of Nen:
"Rock" represents Enhancement. "Scissors" incorporates Transmutation. "Paper" uses Emission.
Because of the rules set by "Rock, Paper, Scissors," this ability is further enhanced by constraints and vows, which increase its power and potential to a certain degree.
In addition, training to strengthen one's body isn't limited to Enhancers alone.
Characters like Biscuit, Netero, Zeno, and Silva have all trained their bodies to the absolute extreme.
Then there's Razor from Greed Island, who isn't an Enhancer either.
"I understand, Uncle Silva. Thank you."
"No problem," Silva paused briefly. "If you ever have questions, feel free to come to me."
"All right, Uncle Silva."
Ron left the Zoldyck estate and headed toward the back mountains.
He'd explored nearly every part of the Zoldyck estate, seeing almost everything as an observer.
The back mountains, the Testing Gates, the surrounding forest, the butlers' quarters, and the mansion on the peak.
The rate at which his crystal absorbed aura had slowed down. However, it was already at ninety percent completion.
Returning to his room, Ron looked at the crystal in front of him.
"Within the Zoldyck estate, there's no place left to speed up the crystal's absorption."
"Not entirely true. There are places, but it's not convenient for me to access them right now."
Ron was aware that somewhere in the Zoldyck estate, there were special prison cells.
These cells often held unusual or particularly dangerous individuals.
For example, Alluka.
But Ron couldn't find a reasonable excuse to visit that area.
As far as Zeno, Silva, and the others knew, Ron likely didn't even know Alluka existed.
So Ron had no choice but to let this go.
"However, it's not a huge issue."
"The crystal's absorption rate may have slowed, but it hasn't stopped entirely."
"It's still gradually absorbing aura."
"There's just ten percent progress left."
"Even if I stay here without moving, in ten days, the crystal will reach one hundred percent."
"At that point, I'll have my very first Nen Beast."
"My aura volume, even as a novice in Nen, is already impressive."
"Moreover, crafting a Nen Beast with the mastery of Observation requires this much effort."
"This is both a constraint and a vow."
"The more effort it takes, theoretically, the stronger my Nen Beast will be!"
Ron threw himself back into training.
His sparring session with Silva had been immensely beneficial.
In addition, Silva's advice had also proved valuable.
"Physical strength and mental fortitude are fundamental."
"Abilities, physical techniques, and skills are tools."
"Only by combining various approaches can I reach my full potential."
Ron could feel his progress accelerating once he slightly adjusted his training strategy.
Ten days passed in a flash.
"It's time!"
Ron opened his eyes.
The crystal in front of him was now completely filled, reaching one hundred percent completion.
