Once we got the warpcore back from the people who stole it after it was ejected and everything back to normal another week have passed.
I haven't talked to Seven yet, but that's because until the day we tried the transwarp experiment she was confined to cargobay 2. Now when engineering is cleaned up again I actually have time to go looking for her.
So now I simply walk over to cargobay 2. I glance at the wall next to the doors. None of those fancy doorbells. Frowning slightly I knock instead.
While unsuitable, it 'is' her quarters and I cant just come stumbling inside.
It take several knockings before the doors open "Yes, can I help you?" and I give her a smile
"Sorry if I'm interrupting, but I have had the chance to welcome you to Voyager yet. My name is Hiver, How are you settling in so far?"
She look slightly confused "I..thank you for your concern. My experiences so far have been satisfactory. May I ask why you where knocking on the hatch?" and I shrug
"Well, For some reason you have been assigned this cargobay as your quarters so I cant exactly just walk in without permission, can I?"
She frown slightly "None of the others have considered that necessary. I didn't realize it was done."
Hmming softly I nod "You might want to take that up with the Captain. If they are still storing materials in here it might be better to either move them or have you assigned real quarters."
Nodding she watches my mechadendrites hovering over my shoulders "I will talk to the Captain about the matter. You use cybernetics of a unknown design. Why?"
I simply smile "To better myself. I strive for perfection, not only in mind, but in body. May I come in?" I ask while motioning towards the still open cargobay and she nod before we move inside.
"That philosophy is similar to The Borgs. The Borg main objective is to strive for Perfection."
Nodding I lean against a cargo container "So I gathered. My methods and means are quite different however. I don't assimilate, I learn. I don't conquer, I investigate. To me The Borgs methods look crude and needlessly cruel."
She watch me "Your implants are crude and The Borg methods are effective. In all aspects The Borg are superior to you." and I just smile
"For now. You may or may not see it, but while The Borg are adaptive, they are also stagnant. Their technology surpass everything in this quadrant in space, including The Federation. They no longer got any reason to adapt in any major way. The Borg don't invent, they assimilate. With no new technology to assimilate, what will the Borg do then?"
She frown "I...am unsure." before I continue
"The Borg as a concept will in time fail. Unless they drastically change their nature they will never reach the Perfection both them and I strive for. I will succeed."
I stretch slightly before smiling "Just because you where a member of the Collective, don't meant that you now cant work to become more than just another Drone." and I step away from the packing container "You might want to talk to the captain about your living conditions. Personally I recommend getting some quarters so you get some privacy. If its the alcove that's the problem, I'll personally help you move it."
Then I say my goodbyes for this time, leaving a slightly thoughtful and confused former Drone to her thoughts.
AN// During the first two weeks on the ship she was confined to the cargobay so the SI didnt have access. The next week was busy with repairs.
