Chapter 20 - day 20

She placed the bottle of water on the counter and the cashier scanned it.

"That would be fifty cents, ma'am," the cashier said.

She took out a coin pouch and felt inside. There were a lot of pennies and nickels. She twiddled her fingers and touched the corners. But those were too annoying to count, if only there were---the tips of her fingers felt two coins. Her brows furrowed. Hmm, they were hard and were the largest out of the bunch. These must had been quarters! She took out the two coins and looked. Hah, see?! Two authentic quarters. She had god-like fingers. She might as well had been hired to be a bloodhound, but for touching. She smirked as she placed the quarters on the counter. She glanced at the cashier. Her eyes widened a bit. The cashier was giving her a blank look, the sort of look she herself would give someone if she was tired of dealing with their antics.

"S-Sorry," she played with her hair as her gaze went to the side. "I'm a little slow." She took a peek at the cashier's face. Her gaze went to the side again. The cashier was making an even blanker look, a mega-blank look, if you will. "Just... give me the receipt already," her hands clasped to her back and her gaze went to the floor. "I-I know..." she said.
