Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Jin Sheng

Who knew that the person would fiercely brush away the hand extended toward him, pressing his bleeding arm against Baili An's pale lips.

"It's so troublesome! As if I'm afraid of a mere corpse demon's corpse poison."

The scalding fresh blood flowed into his mouth, and the bloody taste made Baili An slightly frown in displeasure.

But he still gulped it down, only pushing away the person's arm after he had suppressed the bloodthirsty desire inside him.

This person's blood was completely different from that of Disciple Li Jiujiu.

The burning heat carried a strong Spiritual Power, and after a few mouthfuls, Baili An even felt the Yin Yang Tao Fish inside the Qi Sea of his Dantian speeding up significantly.

Although his Realm Cultivation did not increase, it seemed like something incredible was happening in the background.

For instance, the first and last mouthfuls of blood he drank obviously had a more intense bloody smell.

This meant... he was slowly regaining his sense of taste.

As the crimson in his eyes dissipated, Baili An wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and looked at the man with a complex expression, "So, you really are from the Demon Sect?"

The man was taken aback, then spat out, "Who told you I was one of those stinky bugs from the Demon Sect!"

Baili An replied, "But usually, ordinary people of the Immortal Path don't rear corpse demons."

The man rolled his eyes and said, "Well, I'm not your typical Immortal Path person. Let me tell you the truth, my name is Jin Sheng."

Jin Sheng... looking forward to Baili An's reaction with bright eyes.

Baili An mulled over this name in his heart three times before speaking, "Sounds a bit like a woman's name."

Jin Sheng frowned deeply, "You've never heard of this name?"

Baili An suddenly realized, thinking that this person must be quite famous in today's world.

That must be the case; someone capable of unleashing such a formidable lightning-attracting sword surely couldn't be a nobody.

"Uh... sorry, I must've been dead for over two hundred years. I left my memories in the coffin, so even if you are a big shot, I wouldn't remember," Baili An said, scratching his head.

Jin Sheng's frown deepened. He pulled a worn-out black Qiankun Bag from his bosom. The black fabric was embroidered with a flaming Qilin and looked quite majestic.

He took out a bag of water and washed the blood off his face and hands, muttering, "They say corpse demons are born holding grudges from their previous lives, evolving over the years and eventually turning into corpse demons. But you don't seem to be holding any grudges."

Once the blood was wiped away, his true appearance was revealed, robust and handsome, his features indicating an age somewhere between adolescence and youth.

Baili An gave a slight smile, "I will try my best to retrieve my lost memories."

Jin Sheng uttered a sound of acknowledgment, then took out a wide black robe and a strip of black silk from the Qiankun Bag and threw them to Baili An, saying:

"You're wearing clothes from the Lihe Sect. You should change them when you get a chance. Also, that small silver sword at your waist emits heavy Demonic Qi. It's best kept hidden within your Aquatic Jade."

Baili An took the clothes and silk, nodding his head.

Jin Sheng sat down cross-legged, his fingers caressing his sword, then said, "Since I've eaten one of your Spirit Fruits, let me tell you about the current state of the world, otherwise you'd barely survive with no memories."

Baili An propped up an umbrella, held a deer in one arm, and squatted down, nodding earnestly as if listening attentively.

"In today's world, it's like the realm is split into four, each region fostering a nation.

To the East is the Country of Qin, to the South is the Wei Country, and to the West is Ze Country. These three nations are each governed by one of the three major Sects of the Mortal World.

And these nations' official religions are respectively the Tianxi Sword Sect, the Taixuan Sect, and the Cangwu Palace, making these three among the most powerful countries.

The Northern nation is Zhao Country, also a land where the Demon Sect is rampant. They worship the Demon God and sacrificed to him. Five hundred years ago, the battle between the righteous and the Demon Sects was fiercely brutal, nearly causing human realms to fall.

At the critical moment, leaders of the Three Sects combined forces with the Earth Queen from the Central Netherworld, defeating the leader of the Demon Sect, thereby ending the five hundred years of strife, and the influences of the Demon Sect were forced back to the North Border, no longer daring to invade the central lands.

Little corpse demon, I remind you, though you've awakened from your coffin and were born a demon, as long as you maintain your true heart, you won't fall into the Abyss. But the Demon Sect..."

At this point, Jin Sheng's eyes suddenly turned chillingly cold, and malice surfaced, "You must not associate with them! People from the Demon Sect, they are even more evil than demons. If you meet them, avoid them by ten li, better yet turn away by twenty li."

Baili An's eyes shifted slightly, "The Demon Sect... Is it really that terrible?"

Jin Sheng slowly exhaled, his gaze becoming somewhat distant, "They say good and evil are hard to distinguish; some are born in the evil path but are inherently kind, while others may be descendants of the orthodox and are scoundrels.

Right and wrong are not clearly distinguished by words, but the Demon Sect is different. They thrive by devouring others, and if the prey is exhausted, they would even devour their fellow sect members to grow stronger."

"If you ask... which is the most terrifying abyss in the Mortal World? My answer would be—the Langya Demon Sect!"

Baili An was momentarily stunned, unsure how to respond.

He just felt that this person truly loathed the Demon Sect to the extreme.

"Alright, having talked about the Demon Sect, it's time to speak about matters of the righteous path."

Jin Sheng patted his tattered hem and continued, "You saw the people of the righteous path yesterday. There are too many hypocrites waving the banner of righteousness, so you cannot reveal your identity as a corpse demon as freely as now. Not everyone is as understanding as I am."

Baili An looked curiously, "I never voluntarily revealed my identity. Wasn't it you who figured it out?"

"Ah, don't worry! Like me, geniuses and freaks are extremely rare in this world. Ordinary cultivators can't see your identity."

Jin Sheng patted his shoulder, then his gaze once again became profound, "They say someone must always beware of fire, thieves, and the deceitful. There are too many villains in the world, and you appear to have your wits about you, which I'm sure can help you easily navigate through. But..."

He dragged the last note, his eyes inscrutable.

Baili An looked curious, "But what?"

Jin Sheng stroked his chin, his gaze sharp as he scrutinized him from head to toe, saying, "You are clearly a corpse demon, yet the balance of Yin and Yang in your body remains even, and you also emit an aura of Primordial Yin. Little corpse demon, don't tell me that when you woke up from your coffin, you engaged in Dual Cultivation with some female disciple from an Immortal Sect?"

"Cough, cough, cough..." Baili An's face turned broadly embarrassed.
