Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Offering One's Body to Nourish Blood

Yin energy coiled out and upon landing on the ground, it transformed into the likeness of a chubby child.

He was probably only as tall as a young girl's arm, his pale body dressed in a bright red bellyband.

Biting his finger and drooling, he looked towards Baili An as if he had seen some delicious food.

The girl lazily retracted the small coffin and stood with her hands behind her back, her delicate feet lightly kicking the little ghost's buttocks.

She urged him on, saying, "He's your lunch today; remember to eat him up, not even the bones should be left, otherwise, it'll be very troublesome to deal with."

The beautiful girl spoke words that were full of sinister overtones.

The little ghost wiped his mouth, and his pitch-black pupils instantly transformed into the same crimson color as Baili An. His body pounced forward and dispersed into a mist-like existence.

In the next instant, the cloud of yin energy wrapped around Baili An's right arm.

The little ghost materialized, clinging tightly to his arm and opening his mouth wide to reveal a set of sharply menacing white teeth.

He bit down fiercely!

Tearing off a piece of flesh!

Baili An instantly felt excruciating pain, but before he could shake his arm free, the little ghost suddenly stiffened.

After swallowing a piece of flesh, the ghost looked at Baili An with his blood-red eyes, a look of extreme pain appearing on his chubby and naive face.

Only a tuft of hair was on his head when suddenly, fierce green veins popped out.

He quickly pushed Baili An's arm away, ran to the girl's side, and crouched there, wailing nonstop.

His tiny body trembled violently as if enduring some immense pain, madly digging into his own throat with his hand.

It was as if he desperately wanted to tear open his mouth and body, just to extract the piece of flesh he had just swallowed.

Baili An had never seen a Yin ghost cry before.

Neither had the girl.

"Shou!"

Her voice changed, and her gorgeous face became tinged with panic and confusion due to the little ghost's agony.

She held the little ghost tightly in her arms, restraining his hands from tearing at his mouth.

What kind of fiercely toxic substance could cause Shou so much pain?

There was now a chilling, ominous tension in her apricot-shaped eyes, "You... deserve to die!"

Baili An lost his last trace of consciousness under the vicious bite of the little ghost.

He instinctively gripped the Glazed Umbrella in his hand, leaping towards the girl in the red dress while emitting the distinct roar characteristic of a corpse demon.

On his way, something seemed to fall out of his embrace.

Round and rolling, it slid far away.

The girl, Xiao Se, momentarily froze, her gaze caught by something.

She looked at the steamed bun on the ground, now dirtied by dust, a bewildered expression on her face.

In that moment of distraction.

Baili An had already pounced in front of her and forcefully pinned her down, his sharp tusks protruding from his lips, wildly biting towards her snow-white, poetic, lustrous neck.

With a loud bang,

Baili An's body was violently sent flying.

This time, he did not fall onto the cold ground.

A spiritual deer, with urgent steps, caught Baili An with its plump and sturdy body, let out the distinctive cry of a creature in mourning.

Its usually gentle and subservient gaze now held a hint of hatred, glaring fiercely at the girl in red.

The girl dusted off her clothes, and Shou, whom she held, had fallen asleep unknowingly, with two lines of painful tears on his plump face.

A Yin ghost shedding tears.

Unprecedented.

She took Shou back into the small coffin, and her icy gaze met the resentful stare of the spiritual deer, causing her to be taken aback.

Then she saw the deer, which she thought had been saved by her kindness, now cautiously lying down.

It placed the weakened corpse demon boy on the ground, then turned around, presenting its plump rear towards the lips of the corpse demon, all the while urging plaintively as if to convey urgency.

The girl was completely taken aback.

Shocked by the sight.

A spiritual deer feeding a corpse demon with its Spiritual Blood?

That must be a first in a thousand years.

Was the deer so foolishly unaware?

Doesn't it know how terrifying an unconscious corpse demon can be?

Once his teeth break your skin and flesh, and the Corpse Poison in his saliva contaminates your bleeding wounds, the consequences will be incredibly horrifying.

She was about to intervene when she heard Baili An growl and rise abruptly.

With a fierce and crazed expression, he overpowered the deer underneath him, eager to drink its blood.

The deer let out a soft cry, tears brimming in its round eyes.

It gently raised its head and licked the gruesome bite wounds on Baili An's neck, apparently unstirred by his current frightful appearance.

Without a struggle, without resistance.

With even sharper, growing tusks, Baili An lowered his head and ferociously bit towards the deer's neck, releasing unconscious Corpse Language.

But halfway through, his head, which was lunging forward, suddenly stiffened, his crimson pupils flickering erratically, his slitted eyes struggling wildly.

The sharp tusks pierced his own bloodied lower lip, his entire body tensely rigid.

Then... inch by inch, he released the deer, making gagging sounds continuously.

Once again trembling, he held onto the wound on the deer's rear, squeezed out a palmful of blood, and drank it.

The crimson hue in his eyes finally faded, and while the ferocity did not completely dissipate, his consciousness had at last recovered.

With difficulty retracting the elongated tusks, the fearsome size was something even he himself was not used to.

With a vaguely bewildered expression, he touched the cold tusks, then with a resigned look towards the deer, he said, "Too dangerous, if I go mad and seek your blood again, remember to keep your distance from me."

The deer affectionately nuzzled his leg, pleased to see his consciousness restored.

The sound of rustling footsteps arose, and Baili An and the deer instantly went on high alert.

The power of the mysterious woman they had encountered before was too strong; he was simply no match for her.

A fragrant breeze approached, with a scent as if flowers were mixed with frost and snow.

Just as Baili An was about to draw his sword to defend himself, his cheek suddenly felt a coolness.

Not the bone-chilling coolness of Sword Intent, but a coolness that healed, significantly reducing the burning pain of sunburn on his cheek.

The glint of red in his eyes dispersed immediately.

Baili An froze.

In his line of sight was replaced by a delicate fingertip and a swatch of bright red sleeve.

And against his cheek, there was a square piece of blue ice.

The frost emitted by the ice seeped slowly into the wounds on his face, with the flesh regenerating at a rapid pace.

Soon, as the last wisp of mist from the ice merged into his skin, his original appearance was restored.

The elongated tusks also retracted, becoming slightly pointed, like tiger teeth.

Even the puncture wounds on his neck healed completely.

Baili An turned to look and caught the gaze of the girl's eyes, reminiscent of apricot blossoms in misty rain.

"I misunderstood," said the girl, her gaze falling slightly as she looked at the corpses strewn around and the unconscious hunter and his daughter. She then added, "However, considering the scene, it's not surprising that one would misunderstand, is it?"
