Chapter 27 - Final 15 (20 Over Format)

We had utterly lost the final match of the 10 over group stage. They seemed Insanely strong, So strong that they Chased the score of 58 in 5 overs which we as a team scored.

Looks like we had a rude awakening at that moment... Everyone is currently quite dejected by what had happened...

But, The pitches would only get worst from now on... They adapted well to the pitches which we couldn't.

It was a spinning track that had an average spin of 5°, While the average spin of the other pitches was only 1-2° at best...

But the problem was that from the t20 to the 50 over format the pitches will offer more seam and spin so we need to practice playing spin and Swing...

Damn, it's so unfair that the pitches will be Infused with mana to make them more difficult but you can't use magic to evade the Seam and Spin variables of the pitch.

Imagine it pitches on the 5th stump line and just spins 6 degrees? It'd be a disaster...

For the batsman ofcourse...

he's tryin to drive a bowl and it just spins 6 deprees either towards the stumps or away from the stumps...

But, well that much swing will only Happen in that Heinous final Test match Pitch...

It'd be a disaster for these flat track bullies to Play in that heinous pitch...

But, for now we'll have to focus on the T20 matches and 50 over games...

Play and win them one by one and reach the final and maybe win it...

We have the bowlers and batters to do it but it's a Question if they can do it or not...

Everyone agreed with this and decided to practice playing high spin and seam.

We have a 20 floor building for Gaming practice, It was recently constructed to help players practice playing in different Pitches and the whole team was currently practicing batting, bowling and fielding.

and i was practicing batting and keeping behind the wickets.

as usual i predicted the trejectary of the ball and caught it right behind the wickets and plucked the bails off...

Rather than catching the ball and hitting the bails what i try to do is try to hit the bails while i take the ball midway while reaching the bails.

i don't wait for the ball to come to the gloves but i take my gloves to the bails and pick up the ball mid travelling.

well that trick only works if the ball delivered is pitched close to the stumps if it's pitched close to the 5th or 6th stump line than obviously the speed of me hitting the ball would decrease by half.

Right now everyone was regorously practicing Hutting the ball and connecting it well...

But, the way they are they probably won't be able to help much.

My guess is that the pitch will probably probably swing in the starting overs and Spin between 5-12 Overs...

After that it'll be batter friendly, That's how T20's usually go if they can survive until the first 12 overs they can easily score around 120-130 runs 8n the remaining 8 or so overs.

It's a matter of survival.

If you pull it together and survive these overs we'll be able to score big in the remaining 8 overs.

These people may be flat track bullies but in all honesty these flat track bullies are probably thr best among the flat track bullies who can easily score 130 odd runs in 7-8 overs.

That's why we had no problem with the other teams in the 10 over matches.

They were all flat tracks and the others weren't as good as compared to our team.

"Hey guys... I have a suggestion."

I decided to speak my mind for once.

It was Imparitive that these people learnt the art of defence, If they didn't they wouldn't survive 8 overs in the 50 over games.

Their aggression will be the end of them...

That's how Pitches of cricket usually are.

With the new ball There will be good amount of swing and considering what the pitch can do, It's even more scary.

And after the first 6 overs there will be good spin and after some time at around over 11 or 12 the pitch will settle down and the ball will become old and the pitch won't help much because the magic inside the pitch will die down after a certain time.

Making it a batter's paradise.

I explained all this to them and they with surprised faces started trying defecne for probably the first time in their lives with such dedication.

...

It was the 1st of the two matches and surprisingly me and N. Restorian were told to open as we'd lost the toss and were told to bat first.

N. Restorian was surprisingly good at defending and taking singles and doubles whenever needed.

And i on the other hand was struggling to even tough the ball properly...

I was talking all high and mighty about survival just 2 days ago but right now it seemed like Survival was tough with the Speed and swing of the ball.

These people we were playing against were no joke.

They are really relenting on the low bounce Trap set around the Leg stump, good length line.

Nad the low bounce was doing it's best to hit my pad first but luckily i was able to edge every ball which would go to the outfield and i'd take a single.

While restorian was dancing down the pitch and Smashing balls on odd occasions to pressure the bolwers to bowl a different line.

Dancing down the pitch is just running to the pitch of the ball i.e wherever it landed and hitting it from there.

This allows evade any spin or swing.

He's hit 3 fours and 1 Six and was doing quite well Against the seamers until he got out.

That was when S. Gull came in at 3, He was very good with his defence and single placements.

So he was playing the same position that he played all the matches before this.

I'd edge the ball and take a single and he'd hit odd boundaries and take singles.

That's how we evaded the first 10 overs and scored 80 runs and i was struggling at 9/10*.

Gull scored around 41/30*, With 6 Fours.

While N. Restorian scored 30/20.

He was doing quite well mixing aggressikn with good defence i mean he has a 200 Strike rate in this kinda pitch? Can you believe it...

We ended up scoring around 102/1 In 10 Overs.

That's quite the feet he pulled off there.

Than the spinner was called in and i was on strike, The biggest problem was yet to come for us.

A lethal spell from a spinner...

I was facing his first ball on strike...

I came dancing down the track and flat batted it over the bowler's Head and it went straight as an arrow and it ended up being a six.

That was the moment i was waiting for.

I was bad against pace but if it's a speed of 80/90 Kms/Hr speed than the spin was no problem for me.

afterall, I'm a spin hitter.

...

Well... I went a little carried away in that over and took all of my frustration on the bowler...

Kept coming down the ground either taking a single or hitting it into the stands.

There was no Inbetween for me.

That how i scored a quick fire 40 runs and got out in the 15Th over.

It was time for the 2 powerhitters to take over.

...

They managed to smash over 70 runs in the final 5 overs and the score reached a mamoth 213/4 Wickets lost.

It was time for their batsman to play and sadly their batting wasn't that good.

We used the same tactics they did hitting the good length trap set by the pitch creators and Managed to Lb them easily enough.

That way we won the match, Pretty easily...

...

It was the 2nd and final match of the group stage of 2nd phase 20 overs.

If we win this We'll we'll automatically go to the next round and if we don't than that will be over for us.

The match yesturday led to the win of the team that is playing against us today.

so if we lose today that'll mean that we will be disqualified...

And so the toss led to us winning it and We told the opposition to bat first.

...

After the end of 5 overs, They were 27/3 and we were in a good position.

Our main bowler J. Blumming took 2 while the 2nd main bowler A Samuel took 1 wicket.

And H. Pluster bowled 2 Overs with A Samuel and yook no wickets and The turning point was the 5th over which went for a 2 wicket Maiden.

This guy really is something else...

He took a total of 15 wickets in the 9 Matches we played already 7 of them being 10 over matches and yesterday he was the main man taking 5 for 14 in his 4 overs.

We found a generational talent in our squad.

And what about the all rounder N. Restorian? That dude's seriously talented scoring more than 297 runs in 9 matches and taking 9 tickets as a bowler the 3nd highest after Blumming and A. Samuel who took 13.

And after 15 overs They were all out for a 137 thanks to a boost by the lower order at the last over.

Bitch really scored 50 runs in 3 overs?

They were 85 for 7 after 12 overs and dragged it to 137 scoring 52 runs in just 3 overs.

Losing the 3 wickets.

The pitch seems to be harder than the 1st match.

This ain't looking good...

...

Haa... It was hard, It was fkin hard i tell you...

Surving 18 damn ivers and scoring 137 runs and winning by 2 wickets.

A literal collapse on one end while i held the other.

Somehow managing to win with good contributions by the last 4 batters we reached what seemed like a mountain after we lost 3 in the first 2.

The captain's Knock was quite crucial, Than the aggression from H. pluster and R. Stuffing at the end was quite helpful.

I on the other hand maintaining a healthy strike rate of 121 scored 56/46.

And we barely won the match.

That resulted in us going to the next round.

With that only 5 Teams remain.

With only 2 of them who can play the final in the deadly Pitch No 7.
