Chereads / Her Intentional Forever / Chapter 24 - Blame

Chapter 24 - Blame

Alec knew from the day his sister escaped her arranged marriage that his faith must have been sealed for an arranged marriage, since they couldn't achieve an alliance through her then he the remaining choice and he was not going to evade it.

But he was still going to marry Raquel, so they would get off his back about getting a wife! He knew Alex must have made a move during his absence and found reasons to question his position, his cousin brother aims for the company and he wasn't even hiding it.

Alex blamed his father for his parents death, they had died on a ship wreck, on their way to meet an investor. Since then Alex had been so bitter and thought it was his parents fault that they were sent on that meeting.

He accused Alec's father of killing his senior brother to take over the company and believed the company was initially rightfully his.

Alec sighed and enjoyed the comfort of nature for a generous amount of time before he went back in.

Upon opening the door he heard Raquel's laughs and knew she was still on the phone with Erica. Seriously, what in the world were they talking about?!

He relaxed himself on the couch and got ready for a good sleep, he could use a few hours without Raquel's endless rants.

She had been whining and fussing since the next morning she got up after he drugged her to sleep.

Now he thought it wasn't bad if Erica would make her forget to bug him for a while.

...

"You crazy fucker! Are you blind???!!!!!" An enraged voice rang out as the person behind the wheels slammed on the breaks with full force.

Dave calmly took assertive strides out of his car and leaned on it, he straitened his professionally tailored attire and waited to see the retarded person who was yelling when it was clearly his fault that they almost collided.

The person was basically driving with the absence of his sense with him and he figured the voice sounded a little familiar to him.

The person pushed open his car door in annoyance and stormed out of his car "who the fuck are you?!"

A lady followed him out from the other side seconds later but had only brought a feet out and poked her head out only to immediately withdraw herself back and slam the door shut at the sight of Dave.

Dave could swear he has seen her somewhere but he didn't have a chance to glimpse her features properly before she hid back behind the tinted glasses of the car.

He didn't want to make random assumptions and he had a glass of drink earlier before he was sent on an emergency meeting so there might be a possibility that it wasn't who he thought he saw.

"What are you looking at?" The man's irritated voice made him shift his attention from whoever hid back into the car and he was a little shocked to see who it was.

"Mr. Alex" he half smiled "I must say, it isn't a pleasure meeting you sir"

"It's a mutual feeling" Alex sneered "What is wrong with you?! Can you be able to pay for my car if you had bumped it?! Ain't your eyes working properly?!"

"My eyes are good but I'm not very sure about yours, because it doesn't look like you've recognized me up till now" Dave arched his brow at him.

Alex blinked his eyes repeatedly and focused his gaze on Dave

"This may be of help if you don't mind sir" Dave brought out a neat glass from his pocket and stretched it towards Alex.

"Yeah thank you" Alex accepted the glass from him and flung it away.

Alex rubbed his eyes, his brain felt hazy as he had been drinking for a while now, he finally settled a clearer gaze on Dave and, seeing it was his brother's assistant his rage intensified.

"You??!!!"

"Yes.. me" Dave wasn't sure exactly how to react.

"I'm pretty sure you suck at every single thing but driving as well? You almost caused an accident!!"

Dave was quite amused at the obvious drunk man who would have probably been rushed to the hospital by now had he not gotten himself on time and screeched to a halt, Dave had quickly shifted from the way before they could hit each other to give him enough space to screw himself over so he doesn't get involved in a careless accident and now he is pushing the blame on him?

Dave sighed, he had an appointment to catch so he doesn't really have time for all this and people were already giving them second glances.

"Sir, it was clearly your fault here you shou-"

"Are you trying to lecture me? What do you insignificant assistant know? Can you even pay for my car?!"

"This isn't about paying for the car, but in as much as we assistants can be insignificant, we could help you prevent significant situations like this, if you have an assistant you should have called him to drive you home when you are tipsy"

"Instead of risking your life like this, it's not like I care though but you could have been dead or ended up in a dire situation or sustaining an injury"

"I should right?"

"Yes"

"Did Alec put you up to this?"

"What?!" Dave couldn't believe the man and stared back at him blankly.

"Did he pay you teach me, because how you talk make me feel like a student and think that maybe I should probably get a pen and paper or something to write"

"What?!"

"Are you dumb? What do you mean 'what?' 'what?' " Alex was irked with his responses.

"Not everyone who speaks to you is paid by your brother"

"Whatever! you mentioned about hiring an assistant right? How about you switch places now and come work for me instead? You seem to know a lot about the job"

"No!" Came his curt reply

"Don't disagree yet, think it through and I will also pay you thrice what Alec pays you" Alex brought his card out and handed it him "here, you can contact me when you're ready.. but until then, avoid me!"
