Chapter 25 - Mr. Hunter

"You are not planning to continue driving right?" Dave yelled at his retreating view, the man was tipsy, he shouldn't be driving now.

"I have company" he said as he lowered himself into the car and Dave sighed as the car roared into live and zoomed off with almost same speed as before.

He stared at the card for a few seconds and slipped it into his pocket "this.. might be of help in the future" he concluded and went into his car to continue on his journey.

Half an hour later he pulled up in front of a villa which stood majestically as its cream-colored stone surface glowed warmly in the neither hot sunlight.

Natural plants surrounded the villa, as he stepped out of the car and roamed his gaze around. Cypress trees and fragrant lavender bushes spilled over the stone walls as a meandering pathway, lined with rustic lanterns lead him to the entrance and he proceeded further in.

The villa's interior was top notch, with plush furnishings, rich wood accents and a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape from the tall window.

An infinity pool glimmered in the sunlight, blending seamlessly into the horizon. The air around was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the distant chirps of happy birds singing in harmony.

Mr. Hunter was not kidding about retiring this time around, a renowned figure in the business world who just his statement had so much authority he but went into seclusion three months ago, officially declaring his retirement as he was already in his late seventies.

And he had choosen just the best place to lead a quiet life in this enchanting tranquil villa, just the perfect place to escape daily stresses and retreat in comforting solitude.

Dave kept his fingers crossed on the chances of Mr. Hunter accepting his proposal, he tried hard to contact him because he was the only one who can help his boss now and he was grateful Mr. Hunter at least wanted to hear his bargain first and had invited him over.

"Mr Hunter" His voice was neither polite nor arrogant as he said to announce his presence when he spotted Mr. Hunter beside the pool.

The old man with very short white hair tilted his head to where he stood and deep gray eyes stared back at him "young man.. you are?"

Dave was slightly stunned, he doesn't remember him? Well, they haven't actually met in person so he proceeded to say his name, instead of explaining, they could just start afresh like they just met today.

"I'm Dave A-"

"Dave Anderson, the one who talked about expanding projects of Quin Corp's estates to the rural places" Mr. Hunter smiled and pronounced the rest of his name and the reason he was here, he didn't forget him?

"That would be me Mr. Hunter" he smiled and nodded

"I didn't forget you, come have a sit and let's make this short"

Dave occupied the sit beside him and brought out some files from his bag.

"You already know that I don't agree to just about any deal and I don't entertain work because I'm retired, but... you look like you are very good at what you do, so don't disappoint me"

"Thank you for acknowledging me, you should take a glance at this first before further discussions" Dave handed him a contract and his eyes skimmed through it.

Mr. Hunter had a satisfied smile on his face as he signed it immediately surprising Dave.

"Sir, you don't want to add a thing or two to it? You are satisfied with all terms and conditions?"

"I trust you young lad and I already said to make this short, I will invest on the project so you can be rest assured" they shook hands and cheered to their partnership.

Dave had stood up to leave immediately but Mr. Hunter said he should accompany him for a while and Dave was confused, didn't he say he wanted to make things short? Or he just wasn't interested in wasting his time talking about business and reviewing files?Nevertheless, he sat back down and they discussed and laughed over things for the next two hours until he finally left.

The man was actually a cool old dude and had a great sense of humor outside work.

He was actually surprised how easy it was for him to get Mr. Hunter to sign the contract because the man was known to be ruthless in business.. or was it because he was old and now retired? He was prepared to negotiate with the man or redraft the contract to suit him if possible but non of that was needed.

Well, the deal was secured and that was all that mattered, Alec would be glad to know this though and it will save his sorry ass tomorrow. Now thinking about him, Dave wondered what exactly he planned to say to the board.

The loud annoying ring of his phone snapped him out of his thoughts and he frowned his face even more as he saw the caller id, it was his fiance.. no ex fiance.

Why was Jessica calling him? To apologize?! Dave rolled his eyes as he declined the call and blocked her.

When Mr. Lucario Quin had asked him to summit his resignation, within those few days before he received Alec's message, he flew to Los Angeles to visit his fiance Jessica Lewis, upon reaching he knocked but no one answered so he stepped in seeing the door was opened, only to see her making out with Maverick, one of his child hood friends.

They looked shocked out of their souls to see him but he just turned and left back to Kensington without saying a word. Since then, they've both been calling him nonstop and he didn't pick up, now he blocked them both.

When he was about to move to Kensington he asked her to come with him but she declined because of her job saying a long distance relationship could work for her, they both choosed their careers over the relationship so he wasn't at all blaming her or feeling very hurt but the fact that it was Maverick, of all men.

She should just stop disturbing his phone because he was going to break up with her this time around, it wasn't the first time she was doing this.

He sighed and stepped on the accelerator, it was already getting dark, he needs to get home and rest as there was going to be a board meeting tomorrow and Alec was finally returning.
