Two years later
April 09
The 12-year-old boy played with his older brother in their backyard, not caring about the time until their father called them. Mr Damian waited for his sons to come inside before locking the door. The boys made their way to the dining table, running. He reminded them, "Boys, didn't I tell you to get home before 4?"
The boys sat on their chairs eagerly waiting for their dinner as they shook their legs childishly. Their father served them dinner, and after that, he tugged them to bed. Mr Damian's sleep was disturbed by a loud thud. He went out to check and saw the 12-year-old boy on the ground blood flowing from the back of his head.
Mr Damian looked in horror and paused there for a long time. He was shaken away by the cries of the 14-year-old boy who sat on the rooftop looking down at his brother's motionless body. Mr. Damian ran to his son scooped him in his arms and left for the car, he looked back at his elder son who remained at the height crying, and told him "Stay in until I come back, okay son" as the young boy sat in the living crying constantly and fell asleep on the couch.
In the morning, when the light hit Nevil's face, waking him up, he found himself on his bed, not on the couch. He fell asleep. He got up and walked up to his brother's room. As he peeked from behind the door, he saw his younger brother lying unconsciously on the bed, wrapped up in bandages.
Nevil fell on his knees looking at his brother's state he started sobbing again uncontrollably, he rubbed his eyes until his tear burn started to bleed a little.
Nevil's wretched sobbing woke up Mr Damian who was sleeping on a chair next to Draco's bed, he got worried and walked up to the crying child.
Mr Damian moved Nevil's hands away from his face, and looked at the boy in his eyes "Nevil son, what happened why are you crying" he asked his crying son. Nevil sniffles, his small body shaking with sobs as he looks up at Mr. Damian with tear-stained eyes. "I-I it all happened because of me," he choked out between sobs. "If I-I never asked him then it ..it..it." Mr Damian's grip tightened around Nevil's wrists, he took a deep breath and started explaining more like comforting his elder son.
Who blamed himself once again for everything that had happened. "My boy it's not your fault everything is bound to happen" he paused looking at his son. Nevil was looking at his younger wounded brother laying on the bed wrapped in bandages. Nevil's eyes were wide in terror or guilt that his father couldn't comprehend.
Mr Damian looked at his other son injured lying on the bed, he closed his eyes as he couldn't bear to look at his son like that. But in the end, he knew he couldn't be weak for the sake of his sons. He took a deep breath wrapped his arms around Nevil's frail body and lifted him as he walked to Nevil's room he mumbled soothing words in Nevil's ears.
"It's okay son. Your brother is alright he is fine. It wasn't your fault." Once he reached Nevil's room he felt the boy's body relaxed. Indicating that the boy had fallen asleep due to all the nonstop sobbing and crying.
Mr Damian laid down his son on the bed and sat beside the bed on a chair, He held his temple thinking deeply. As Nevil's breathing slowly returned to normal, lulled back to sleep by his father's gentle touch, Mr. Damian's mind raced with unanswerable questions. What happened? What were his sons doing on the rooftop at that time of the night? Yet he couldn't ask Nevil about any of that or that he shouldn't ask considering the state that Nevil was in.
Mr Damian rested his elbows on his knees burying his face in his hands. After a long time sitting Mr Damian stood up and walked to Draco's room finding the little boy still unconscious. Mr Damian out of the exhaust fell asleep right beside the unconscious boy. He wrapped his arms around the child in a protective manner.
After a peaceful sleep, Mr Damian woke up from the sudden moment of his child. He sat up and looked down at the sleeping boy only to find him cuddling with his older brother. He smiled at the scene as the two young boys cuddled with each other. The tender moment was short-lived, however, as Mr. Damian's eyes darted to the corner of the room.
Where he saw a man coming out of the dark corner of the room as if he came out of an invisible portal. The man looked like a knight if Mr Damian described the way he stood.
The man's armor is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, a gleaming mosaic of steel plates and etched designs. His breastplate is emblazoned with the crest of his house, a regal lion's head with a crown, the metal polished to a mirror sheen. The man stood tall and imposing, a regal figure draped in shimmering armor that seemed to deflect the very light around him.
His broad shoulders carried the weight of his noble title with ease, a gleaming sword hanging from his hip as if merely an extension of his elegant hand. Mr Damian's expression turned stern as he looked at the man with a seriousness that seemed like they had a very intense relationship with each other.
The man walked out of the room seemingly going to the living room, soon Mr Damian stood up and followed the man and sat in front of him. Mr Damian sighed and asked the man "What brings the esteemed knight of knowledge here?" his voice showing deep respect for the man. The man, clad in worn armor and carrying a heavy sword, smiled warmly at the gesture of respect. "Ah, Mr. Damian, always a pleasure to visit your esteemed establishment." He set the sword down on the table. He continued "I am not here for any offense so please do relax, I am merely here to fulfill the promise with the royal queen. I the knight of knowledge brought myself here today to request Sir Damian please finish the healing as early as you can so the young prince does not leave the traces of his powers behind." Mr Damian nodded deep in thought, the knight got up and opened the invisible portal once again, it showed nothing but the darkness inside it, and left.
