Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Luna moved through the shadows of the city, a vampire of pure lineage with a conscience that set her apart from her kin. Unlike many of her kind, she had never taken a life; her feeding was a delicate dance, a carefully orchestrated ritual. Each victim was chosen with precision, their blood sipped in just enough measure to sustain her for weeks. They might leave her presence feeling light-headed, but they lived on, often unaware of the fleeting danger they had faced.

But this night felt different. As she glided through the shadows on one of her weekly hunts, she sensed a presence following her—a tall, brooding figure whose footsteps echoed ominously against the cobblestones. The faint clank of chains sent a chill down her spine. A vampire hunter. Her heart raced with a mixture of fear and confusion. She had been meticulous in her approach, careful not to harm anyone to the point of provoking a hunter. Why was he here? Had someone spoken against her, or had she inadvertently crossed a line she was unaware of?

Luna turned slightly, her senses heightened. The man was tall and brooding, his eyes locked onto her with an intensity that made her skin prickle. Questions swirled in her mind, each one more urgent than the last. How had she drawn the attention of someone so dangerous? And more importantly, could she escape this looming threat without revealing the truth of her existence?

Condescending words filled with hatred, reverberated coldly and harshly in her very direction "You're a vampire.." the hunter said. This wasn't a question at all, given her looks. Her pale ivory skin paired with ebony hair, and hazel eyes, deep and enigmatic, held secrets she had long guarded from prying gazes.

With a chill that matched his tone, she replied, striving to convey her honesty. "So? I've not hurt a soul at all..." Luna's voice melted with truth, hoping to disarm the hunter from encroaching further to harm her. In that tense moment, the space between them crackled with unspoken tension, a standoff of conviction and disbelief.

The vampire hunter, an imposing man who commanded presence, shrouded in mystery and shadows. Towered well above luna holding her hazel eyes with a steely glare. As she stared back at him with equal fervor, she could see rippling muscles underneath his fitted black leather jacket. His eyes held skepticism at her words, not buying her so called 'innocence' she had portrayed through words. A slight breeze rustled through the abandoned alleyway, carrying with it her uncertainty and unease, mixed with a tantalizing scent of her fear. "There's not a single case of death in this city, why are you here?" she spoke as calmly as she could, mustering up the little courage she had left when facing him.

"That might be true for now, but it doesn't mean I'll let my guard down." he retorted firmly, his deep, velvety voice resonating in the eerily quiet night, sending chills down Luna's spine. Watching him take a step closer towards her, with his eyes piercing Her's with an intensity that made her heart flutter involuntarily. "My apologizes for frightening you, Miss. I am merely here doing my duty." The hunter spoke with an odd calm towards her, finding it odd as she watched him holster his stake gun, extending a gloved hand towards her palm facing upwards.

With the hunter flashing her a smile, she sensed the same energy she had given off in efforts to disarm him. Watching the moonlight glinting off his silver charm, a vampire hunter's cross, hanging loosely around his neck. The contrast of danger and a handsome man blurred on a thin line, threatening to tip her precariously on deaths door at any moment. "May I have your name?" the hunter spoke with such softness that it blinded her, leaving her stunned mostly. Unaware of the fact he was trying to disarm her even further. "It's Luna, now may I ask again why is a hunter like you in this city, when there have been no reports? Are you just passing by??" Luna spoke with reverie, and uncertainty. Answering him first, respectfully, followed by the same question he'd avoided.

Watching as he studied her in dim lighting of the alleyway, unable to read his stoic facade. Her eyes locking onto his every movement, his hand resting upon the handle of his silver crossbow that hung Holsted on his right hip. Hearing the obvious sound of the leather creaking subtly as he shifted his weight. "Call it intuition, Luna. Sometimes, the quietest places hide the most intriguing secrets." His voice dipped lower, huskier. A sound that traveled to her ears from where they both stood, a respectful and careful distance. As she stood there, watching him, surprise crashed against her followed by shock. The hunter stepping closer and closer to her, his fingers brushing strands of hair tucking it behind her ear.

Luna hesitantly and cautiously took his hand, her hand tremors betraying her and her stoic facade. "Now, about your situation…" the hunter trailed off, tilting his chiseled jaw to the side, studying her closely. "A vampire, yet not feeding properly?" His brows raised in question, catching her off guard briefly. "Who said I don't feed?" she retorted back at his accusation. "How exactly does that work?" His question hung in the air, Luna; thought hard on an answer enough to prove her innocence further. "I feed…I have more common sense than most, I don't drink you humans dry…" She scoffed at him, expecting him to include her in with the normal, mindless vampires he would encounter.

Watching his lips curve into a half-smirk, as he leaned in closer so casually against the cold brick wall of the alleyway. His muscular arms over his broad chest, the leather of his jacket creaking faintly with the motion. "So, Luna" the hunter started, his husky voice a dance dangerously close to a seductive purr, "You choose to sustain yourself without killing. That takes a level of restraint not often seen among your kind." he continued, his head tilting, and eyes narrowing ever so slightly at her. He'd step closer to Luna, again. "And here you are, out alone in the middle of the night." he murmured, his warm breath caressing her cold cheek. "What brings a creature of the night such as yourself out on this peaceful, uneventful evening?" As he spoke, the proximity caused his scent to envelope Luna, a tantalizing mixture of Leather, woodsmoke, and a faint hint of masculine sweat, which only served to confuse her further. Was she supposed to fear this man? Or…desire him?

Choosing neither, she answered him truthfully again, "To find someone to lightly snack on, sustain me for a short while. Would you be a dear, and let me just take a nibble of a hunter's blood?" Her voice mimicked his, in a soft purr rather than his coarse purr. She asked nicely, and wouldn't encroach further if he said no. "I'd respect your answer, either one you give." She followed with reassurance. She noted the slight hitch in his breath, watching his eyes widening a fraction at her proposition. Knowing her velvety voice, wrapped around him like the shadows of the night. Enticing him to submit to her, not what she was intending at the moment. Her posture non-threatening, hearing his heartbeat quicken as another obvious response, internally laughing at it.

As it betrayed his stoic exterior, "You are bold, Luna," He finally managed to croak out, his voice husky with restrained desire himself. Her gaze meeting his head-on, noting his eyes clouding with a heavy mixture of fascination and hunger. Knowing he could easily overpower her if he wanted to. Feeling his gloved hand drifting upwards towards her neck, her pulse jumped as his thumb traced her veins. He cleared his throat, "Very well," he conceded reluctantly, watching him dropping his guard lower than she had expected.

"But remember, just a taste. And afterwards, I expect answers. Why you've chosen this life, how you sustain yourself without killing, and why, exactly, you seem so unaffected by my presence." his last statement seemed like a question more to himself than towards her. Luna nodded, now with his life in her hands. She wouldn't break the trust, wrapping her arms around his neck, she bit down gently and began to drink just a bit. Her soft, cool lips pressed against his exposed throat, when she felt she was about satisfied, she let go.

"Luna…" He breathed out her name like a prayer as she let go, the sound rough and desperate. His resolve to remain detached was quickly dissolving under the onslaught of emotions she evoked in him. The feeding luna had needed created a connection unlike any other he'd experienced, a heady mixture of desire, trust, and something else entirely foreign to him.
