*Genevieve*
I was shocked to see him when I opened the door. I was even more shocked when I saw his hands. He came bearing gifts. I see what looks like dolls and action figures. I raise my eyebrow in question when I see everything. His driver, John helps carry some of the things. I feel a tug at my chest at the number of gifts he brought. He might not know how to be a father, but at least, he knows one way to the hearts of kids. I had to talk to him about gifting, but not now. This was one way for him to get the kids who had no idea they had a dad.
When John goes back to the car, I'm surprised when he comes back bearing more gifts. My eyes widen, and I turn to Lucien, and say, "I never told you I wanted to start a toy business."
He rolls his eyes at that, and says, "I did not know exactly what they liked so, I just got a little bit of everything."
I try to hold in my grin, and I ask bewildered, "This is your version of a little bit?"
He shrugs, and taps at his phone. Knowing him, he can easily buy the shop if he wanted to.
When John drops the last of everything, he turns to me, and asks, "Where are they?"
"My parents took them to get icecream with their cousins. They should be back in…"
We both hear the doorbell, and I say, "That is them."
I open the door, and my parents and the kids come in. My parents look at Lucien not so surprised that he is here, and I am sure the twins told their grandparents that they have a daddy now. I try not to wince knowing fully well that I have not told any of my family members about Lucien's confrontation. In my defense, it all just kind of happened.
My parents look at him, and the gifts in the sitting room. The kids finally notice them, and scream with joy. My heart pulls at how joyous they are. I notice they want to have at it, but are waiting for my signal to say go.
They come to hug me, and I hug them back. I notice the pained look on Lucien's face, and I feel sad.
The kids greet him politely, and he gives them both a small smile. My parents are looking at him, and I notice my father isn't pleased to see him. He is probably remembering how messed up I was after Lucien. My mum on the other looks sad.
Lucien goes to them, and greets them. "Good afternoon Mr and Mrs Evans. It's good to see you both."
"I wish I could say the same," my father says.
My mother rolls her eyes, and hugs Lucien, "Oh Lucien. You know you can call me Jane right?"
He looks dumbfounded, and she says, "I know you are shocked. I am not sure I can forgive you for what you did to my daughter, but for the kids, we have to forgive."
He nods.
George then asks, "Mummy, who are all these for?"
"They are for you and Gianna," I say. "Luci- your father got it for you."
They both seem shocked, and turn to him, and say, "Thank you sir."
"May we open it?" Gianna asks with twinkles in her eyes.
Lucien looks at me, and I nod. My mother then says, "I think it's time for us to go."
She drags my dad out with her, and I can tell he did not want to leave.
He probably wanted to see what Lucien will do.
Gianna asks, "Which one is for me?"
Lucien points at them, and they both delve into it in my sitting room. I just know I will have a lot to do after they are done unwrapping. The kids open every single thing, and show me, while telling Lucien thanks.
When Gianna sees a doll house, the newest one she asked for, that I planned on getting on her birthday, she screams, and burst into tears. She runs and hugs Lucien who seems shocked. "Thank you so much. I told mummy I wanted this. Thank you sir."
Lucien hugs her back, and I have to look away so as to avoid ugly crying in front of all of them. I regret not introducing them to their father sooner. She leaves his arms, and goes back to the doll house. Lucien clears his throat, and I notice the tears in his eyes.
George goes through everything, and I notice that Lucien gave them all a mix of everything. Probably because he didn't know what they liked exactly. George sees a battery powered motor car that he can control with a remote, and smiles.
"Thank you," he says to Lucien.
"You're welcome," Lucien says to our son.
Lucien joins the kids and I to arrange their various gifts. I am shocked to see him carrying it while talking to the kids. They both seem intrigued about whatever he is telling them. He tells them about the toys he had as a kid, and they grin happily listening, while asking him questions here and there to which he happily answers.
Maybe, this will be easier as time goes on. I know the kids are still too young, but I know they could still bond with each other as far as Lucien is around.
They talk about various action figures and he tells them a story of almost all of them.
He orders pizza, and I notice he orders 5 large ones. I give him a look, and he says, "I didn't know which one they liked."
I roll my eyes at him. "You should've just asked, but thank you," I say.
He nods. We all eat the pizza and the kids are happy. I'm sure the pizza sealed the deal.
When Ama comes back from work, she sees how we are, and grins. She washes her hands, and immediately take a slice of pizza.
After a few minutes, Lucien says, "I have to go."
The kids seem sad, and Gianna says, "Why can't you just sleep over?"
I then say, "He has a company so he has to go early."
The kids nod, and Lucien says, "Don't worry, I will come tomorrow."
The kids immediately smile at that, and they hug him, and say bye.
After Lucien goes, Ama raises her eyebrows in question while grinning.
