The written test is underway and Godfrey breezes through it. The questions pertain to which choices a hero should make, and Godfrey is quite confident in his answers.
The final question is a challenge, however, even for him.
Are all villains evil?
Godfrey thinks on it for a while and puts his answer down.
"Depends on the villain."
He double checks for any missed questions and rests when there is none. His performance catches the eye of all 3 teachers and Jonathan is impressed.
Alma, the number 13, looks at this with a doubtful face.
Silas, the number 19, seems disinterested.
Godfrey's blood literally boils as lightning flares inside his body.
'I am excited. I have been working only on my physical development. My combat skills are rusty. Luckily my father allowed me to focus on the academy instead of training me personally. He shall never know of my oversight.'
An hour quickly passes and all the test papers are collected. The teachers silently move out of the classroom and the class follows.
Someone taps Godfrey's shoulder and he looks down. There he sees Sylphaera. Godfrey's thoughts on the girl are complicated, resulting in a strained relationship.
She looks at him and angrily asks.
"Why have you been avoiding me for a whole year? I see you walking and try to say high, but you walk away as fast as you can."
Godfrey frowns and tries to tell her off but a pain in his heart stops him from doing so.
'She is not to blame for how she looks. Let it be.'
He gives her an apologetic look and continues walking forward. Sylphaera is confused and her rage boils over, she readies a hammer of ice but is stopped by Roderick.
"Sylphaera, please. Godfrey is simply under a lot of pressure. Let's leave this for after the exams."
Sylphaera huffs and tosses her hammer away. She glares one more time at Godfrey's back and follows the teacher.
A few minutes later, they arrive at a large training room and Jonathan, Alma, and Silas move to the middle as Kelvin instructs the class.
"Your goals are simple. Struggle with all your might against a teacher you choose. Your performance will be considered heavily, more so than the written test, when making the decision of who to expel. Firstly, Roderick."
Roderick quickly steps out and stares at Silas. Silas stands at 2.1 meters tall and is a behemoth of muscle. Roderick's eyes light up in anticipation as he points at him.
Silas simply nods and moves to the middle. Godfrey looks to his friend and shouts out.
"You can do this Roderick, show them your efforts!"
Roderick grins as rock envelops his entire form. He bulks up and now stands at 3.2 meters tall. He slams his fists together and it produces a small shockwave.
*BAAAAAANG*
Silas smiles and simply hooks a finger to Roderick. Not wasting time, Roderick morphs into a giant rock ball and rolls towards Silas at a surprising speed. Silas puts his left foot forward and executes a piercing left jab at the approaching Roderick.
Roderick shifts back to his human form and dodges the jab. Now that he is just at an arm's length, he targets Silas' knee with a ruthless kick. Silas chuckles and uses his left hand to then push Roderick's shoulder, causing the boy to stumble and his arms to flail
Capitalising on his advantage, Silas grabs one of Roderick's flailing arms and pulls him into a devastating elbow. Roderick reacts by enveloping his face in rock.
*CRACK*
Roderick is slammed to the ground as Silas angled his elbow downwards. Dazed, Roderick sees a foot approaching his face. Instinctively he covers his face and is rewarded with a boot to the chest.
"AAAAAARRRRGGGHH"
Roderick screams in pain. Godfrey thinks to himself as he sees Roderick's slightly caved in chest and broken nose.
'The battle is almost over.'
Roderick screams but grabs Silas' leg and twists. Caught by surprise, Silas is flung to the ground with wide eyes. He slams down hard and recovers slowly. Rocks once again wreath Roderick's form.
Roderick takes advantage of his daze and picks Silas up by the leg that he's still holding. He swings Silas overhead and slams him downwards as hard as he can, but then an impressive display of skill appears.
Silas absorbs the impact with his arms and uses his leg and core strength to lift Roderick off the floor. Without a second to react, Roderick is slammed down into the floor face first.
Rocks scatter as Roderick is knocked unconscious. Applause erupts as the students are in awe of the battle.
"Holy crap!! Roderick's good but Mr. Silas is too strong."
"We're supposed to fight that?"
"I'm shaking damn."
Godfrey looks to Roderick and sees that his friend is being carried away on a stretcher. He focuses once more on the battles as Jonathan calls his classmates one by one.
It is Sylphaera's turn and she chooses Alma.
Both combatants calmly walk to the middle and Sylphaera suddenly shoots a wave of frost that obscures everyone's vision. She shoots shard of ice that pierce through the fog.
Her eyes widen as she dodges to the side. Not a second later, Alma drops from the sky and a wave of unseen energy flings Sylphaera out.
Sylphaera shoots out a forceful blast of frost out of her hands that stabilise her in the air, as she then smirks and closes her fist.
An explosion of frost rocks the training room. Godfrey nods his head and thinks to himself
'Clever, but Alma has already seen this move.'
True to his thoughts, Alma dashes out of the frost and strikes at Sylphaera who cannot react in time.
"OOOF"
Sylphaera is flung out and rolls for a couple of meters. She tries to catch her breath, but Alma is there with a palm to Sylphaera's forehead.
"Great job."
Then she pushes forward and slams Sylphaera down. Sylphaera is dazed but otherwise alright. After a while she stands and heads back to where the students stand.
Godfrey grabs her shoulder and gives her a smile.
Screams of pain continue to sound out as the teachers do not hold back in their assessment. Various injuries ranging from dislocated joints, to broken bones frequently happen.
Godfrey notes that his teachers barely used their abilities. His observations led to him coming up with vague conclusions as to what their powers may be.
Alma has telekinetic capabilities. Silas can manipulate his body to an absurd degree. No one has challenged Jonathan thus far. Then Jonathan speaks one last time.
"Godfrey. It's your turn."
Godfrey nods and steps forward. He points at Jonathan and moves to the middle of the training room. Jonathan smiles and appears at the middle. To many others, it seemed like he teleported. To Godfrey, Jonathan simply leapt to the spot quickly.
His teacher is stood there, unassuming in his appearance. He is a mere 5 feet and 6 inches yet he radiates strength.
'I cannot wait to see what you can show me.'
Godfrey raises his guard and explodes forward, he releases a blindingly quick jab. Jonathan's eyes widen as he tries to parry the jab but is surprised when Godfrey changes the punch into a grapple.
Godfrey grips Jonathan's forearm and pulls. His teacher is pulled forward by Godfrey's immense strength and loses his balance. Godfrey then strikes at Jonathan's elbow joint, aiming to break it.
Jonathan calmly jumps forward, and uses Godfrey's force to swing himself out of the palm strikes trajectory. He then directs a kick towards Godfrey's testicles that forces him to be released.
Godfrey readjusts and delivers a side kick to Jonathan's chest. Jonathan reacts by trying to catch the kick, but it suddenly changes its trajectory and strikes him on the head.
Jonathan reacts in time by blocking with his forearm but is flung backwards uncontrollably. Godfrey propels himself through the air and delivers a brutal punch straight at Jonathan's face.
Jonathan hurriedly uses his abilities and disappears. He reappears a few meters away from Godfrey while rubbing his forearm.
Godfrey smiles and appears behind Jonathan as he speaks.
"Too slow."
Godfrey kicks the back of Jonathan's knee and forces him to kneel, then grabs his entire head with his large hand. Godfrey throws Jonathan to the wall of the training room but there is no impact. Jonathan simply disappears.
Godfrey calmly looks around and sees Jonathan running around him at speeds faster than sound. Godfrey picks his moment and tosses a bolt of lightning directly in front of Jonathan yet it passes right through him.
Suddenly, Jonathan appears above Godfrey and delivers a punishing axekick. Godfrey casually sidesteps and grabs Jonathan's leg. He releases the energy inside his body and electrocutes Jonathan unconscious before he can escape.
"AAAARRRGH"
Jonathan is electrocuted for a couple of seconds as he screams out. Godfrey then releases his teacher and silently watches him for a while. Jonathan stirs and swiftly gets up. He looks to Godfrey and congratulates him.
"Incredible. The new generation shall surpass us old fossils. Well done Godfrey."
Again the students, that haven't been taken outside for treatment, burst out in applause.
"That's the strongest 12 year old woahhhh!"
"I think he's 13?"
"He's so cool!! When is his birthday?"
"Dunno."
Kelvin looks to Godfrey and asks.
"Have you figured out my abilities? You gave a little smirk when I disappeared after you tried to strike my face in the air."
Godfrey nods and snaps his finger.
"Sound. That is your superpower. You can move as fast as sound, but the main feature of your power is that you can become sound waves."
Jonathan nods as Alma and Silas organise the students. He comes close and whispers.
"Great deduction skills. I think it's time for you to head to our mars base and expand your horizons."
Jonathan then walks away and converses with Alma and Silas.
Sylphaera punches Godfrey's arm and chuckles.
"Hehe, who knew a spruce tree could move so gracefully. You've been hiding your skills Godfrey."
Godfrey smiles.
"I've always been a combat fanatic."
He shakes his head and look apologetically at her.
"I've been unfair to you Sylphaera. I treated you poorly because of an event from long ago. Forgive me."
Sylphaera simply waves away his comment.
"Water under the bridge."
Godfrey nods and walks away while Sylphaera thinks to herself.
'Does he speaks like this to his parents? Do all our parents see us 13 year olds as that dramatic? Eh.'
The students head back to the classroom and see their injured classmates back on their seats.
Jonathan addresses the results of the exam.
"You will all receive a notification in your tablet of your results tonight. Keep your eyes peeled. Whatever the result, just know that you've all done well. Dismissed."
The teachers leave the classroom and the gossiping starts once more.
"My goodness, Godfrey, Sylphaera, and Roderick will definitely still be the top 3 in year 2."
"Did you see Godfrey? He looked like a master."
Godfrey ignores them as he bids farewell to Sylphaera and Roderick.
He arrives home to see his mother making spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. His stomach grumbles in hunger and he goes to clean himself.
As he exits the shower in his room, his tablet pings. He checks the notification and sees that he will still retain his number 1 status going into his second year.
Sensing that he still has a little more time, he decides to update his biometric data. He is surprised, however, when he opens his tablet.

Godfrey is shocked that his data would be updated without his input and thinks to himself.
'Of course. It's no wonder that they could achieve this with the present level of technology and magic. I had thought that it would be an inefficient process, but I was wrong. This is quite convenient.'
Godfrey looks at his height and wonders aloud.
"How tall is father?"
Calanthe's voice then calls to him from the kitchen downstairs.
"Godfrey!! Dinner is ready!"
Godfrey makes his way down and sees a large birthday cake on the table.
Ambrose laughs and picks him up.
"Happy Birthday my son! Goodness you're as tall as I am."
Calanthe prepares a fantastic spread of food and kisses Godfrey on the cheek.
"Happy Birthday my dear boy."
Godfrey checks the date and sees that it is in fact December 8.
He picks both of his parents up in a hug and spins them around.
"Thank you both for giving me a great life."
The family spend the rest of the night eating and reminiscing old memories. As the celebration dies down, Godfrey looks to his parents seriously.
"Mother, Father, I want to go to Mars."
