Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Shifting of Shadows

Scarle lay in her room, her mind spinning with a lot of thoughts. Every interaction with her brothers left her more confused. They were her captors, and yet, she couldn't ignore the strange attraction they each possessed. Their words, their looks, even their touch, she can feel it, creating a dark web she was desperate to break free from.

Outside her window, the sky was dark, the stars barely visible against the cloudy night. The house was quiet, and there was a clam that lurks before the storm. She knew she wasn't really alone, even here. There were cameras, hidden in the corners of her room and the outside of her room. She'd noticed them on her first night, tiny, blinking dots that reminded her how every movement of her was watched by her brothers.

A soft knock on her door, pull her from her thoughts, and her pulse gets fast. It wasn't unusual for one of the brothers to appear unannounced, but she never knew what to expect. Each visit felt like a test, in a game of control she didn't know the rules.

"Come in," she said, her voice was steady even as her hands clenched. The door opened, and Daman stepped in, his presence fills the room with coldness.

"Scarle," he said, closing the door behind him. His voice hid the amusement in his voice, as if he found her resistance entertaining. "We haven't had much time alone, have we?"

Scarle raised her chin. "We've had more than enough time, Daman."

He chuckled, low, and stepped closer until he was just a few inches away. "You're feisty. I like that about you."

She felt the heat of his presence, the way he leaned into her space without touching her. There was something predatory in his eyes, a hunger that she didn't understand but feared.

"What do you want, Daman?" she demanded, her voice sharper than before.

His eyes glow with mischief. "Oh, so many things. But for now, I just wanted to talk. Don't worry, I'm not here to push you… unless you'd like that."

Scarle glared at him, forcing herself to meet his eyes. "I don't trust you."

Daman's smile widely, he has almost mocking expression that made her uneasy. "Smart girl. You shouldn't."

They stood in silence for a moment, like locked in a battle. Scarle refused to look away, to give him the satisfaction of seeing her discomfort. But Daman was a master at playing with people's emotions, and she knew that every second he comes close to her, was another piece of his plan falling into the place.

Finally, he sighed and stepped back, his eyes were still fixed on her with that piercing gaze of his. "You know, it would be easier for you if you just… relaxed a little. Enjoyed yourself. This house can be quite pleasant, if you let it in."

Scarle scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Pleasant? I'm a prisoner here."

Daman tilt his head, his expression shifting. "You could look at it that way. Or you could see it as… an opportunity. A chance to find out what you're truly capable of."

There was a twisted logic in his words, a hint of something she couldn't quite grasp. Daman seem to lie in her confusion, in the way he could make her question herself even as she fought to maintain her sense of control.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

Daman shrugged. "You're different, Scarle. You have a fire in you that most people don't have. That's why we choose you."

The words hung in the air with heavy meaning. Choose her? Scarle's mind raced, trying to put the pieces of fragments together, of what he was saying. She had always assumed this was a random act, a twist of fate that had landed in her hands. But Daman's words hinted something deeper, more disturbing.

"You think I should be… grateful for this?" she asked, her voice filled with disbelief.

Daman smirk. "Not grateful, no. But maybe… open-minded."

Scarle felt a surge of anger boiling in her. "I will never be open-minded about being your prisoner."

Daman sighed, as if disappointed, and took another step back. "You're not a prisoner, Scarle. You're part of something… bigger. Something you can't begin to understand."

Before she could respond, he turned and left, closing the door behind him with a soft click. Scarle stood there, her heart was pounding hard.

What did he mean by "choosen"? And why did he seem so certain that she belonged here?

Scarle couldn't sleep all night. She lay awake, her mind was replaying every word, every look, every touch. She was the unwilling pawn caught in the middle between her brothers. But she was determined not to let them break her.

As the first ray of sun crept through her window, Scarle made a decision. She would find the answers. She would learn the truth about this house, about her brothers, and about why they had brought her here.

And if there was a way out, she would definitely find it.
