Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Wild Beasts!

The Elders part

The Ninth Elder's expression was as dark as storm clouds.

"Completely annihilated?"

A subordinate stood before him, head bowed low.

"Yes."

"Only two members of the Kute Gang?"

"No. Only one of them made a move. The other didn't intervene."

"That's impossible," the Ninth Elder rasped, his voice rough with disbelief and anger.

Could the Kute Gang of Thieves really be this strong? He had dispatched hundreds of elite fighters—armed to the teeth with the best weapons. Among them were Nen users, carefully selected for their strength. In the outside world, these operatives would rank among the most formidable fighters, easily able to crush gangs of significant size.

And yet, they had all fallen to just one person?

One person... against hundreds?

The Ninth Elder clenched his fists. "How can the Kute Gang be this powerful?"

A younger man stepped forward cautiously. "We may need to deploy the Wild Beasts to deal with them."

The Ninth Elder's eyes flickered, but he remained silent, weighing his options. He knew better than to act impulsively, especially without consulting the other elders.

Meteor City – Conference Room

All twelve elders gathered, though not in person. Their faces flickered across large screens, the meeting conducted through projections.

The Ninth Elder detailed the Kute Gang' attack and the devastating loss his forces had suffered.

"What's your proposal?" one of the other elders asked.

"They must be eliminated," the Ninth Elder said grimly. "One member alone wiped out my entire force—hundreds of our best. The remaining three are just as dangerous. Their actions jeopardize the very foundation of Meteor City."

The other elders listened, faces unreadable. None of them were fools. It was clear that the Ninth Elder hadn't shared the Kute Gang threat earlier because he wanted to monopolize the opportunity. Now that his plans had backfired, he had no choice but to ask for help.

But it wasn't just a personal failure. The Kute Gang's actions were a direct affront to Meteor City itself.

"They've treated Meteor City like a sacrifice," the Ninth Elder continued, his voice hard. "They've created chaos, costing us countless lives. And as you all know, the population is our most valuable resource."

The other elders murmured in agreement. Meteor City thrived on its underground trade, including the sale of people. Losing so many lives at once would cripple their operations for years to come. The damage was already worse than anything the Phantom Troupe had ever done during the Yorknew City incident.

"They can't be allowed to continue," the Ninth Elder insisted. "If we show weakness now, how can we expect those under us to remain loyal? We must act—swiftly and decisively."

After a moment of heavy silence, one of the elders spoke. "Then let the Wild Beasts handle it."

The decision was unanimous.

The Wild Beasts Assemble

The Wild Beasts—twelve elite Nen users, each representing the strength of one elder—gathered without delay. These warriors were handpicked from the elders' most trusted forces, specialized in dealing with dangerous threats.

Meanwhile, far from the elders' meeting, the four remaining members of the Kute Gang of Thieves regrouped.

An old man among them chuckled to himself, a sly grin spreading across his wrinkled face.

"Shame... We were so close. Just a few more nights, and both disasters would've fully manifested."

He shook his head, more amused than disappointed.

"No matter. Let's enjoy the fight—they're coming for us, after all."

A man known only as Old K squinted into the distance, where a large force was advancing toward them. The Wild Beasts led the charge, backed by dozens of elite fighters from Meteor City.

Old K's grin widened. "Heh. They're really rolling out the red carpet for us, aren't they?"

Members of the Kute Gang exchanged looks, each feeling the thrill of the coming battle.

Old U cracked his knuckles with a grin. "I was hoping some of the Zoldycks would show up. I've been dying to fight them."

His gaze flicked to his comrade, Old O, who was missing an arm.

"By the way, was your arm taken because the Zoldycks were too strong... or were you just sloppy?"

Old O's eyes darkened, his jaw tightening. "Shut up."

The two glared at each other, but their tension was interrupted by the arrival of their enemies.

The Battle Begins

The twelve Wild Beasts stood at the front of the advancing force, their leader—a young man in a crisp suit and glasses—surveying the battlefield with a calm, measured gaze.

"Be careful," he warned his team. "These Kute Gang's members are not ordinary Nen users. Only those of us trained to handle high-level threats should engage them. The rest of you, stay back. If you get in our way, we won't be able to save you."

He drew a sleek, curved blade from his side, resembling a kitchen knife, and gave a sharp command.

"Move out!"

The Wild Beasts surged forward as one, a blur of speed and deadly intent.

On the other side, the thieves remained still, waiting for their enemies to close in.

Perched atop a nearby ledge, Old K watched the Wild Beasts approach, excitement sparking in his eyes.

"Not bad," he murmured. "The energy rolling off them is impressive."

He could sense the levels of aura among the Wild Beasts—two at C-level, eight at B-level, and two even reaching A-level.

"This might actually be fun," Old K muttered with a grin. "The ones we fought before were too easy."

Before anyone else could act, Old O launched himself into the fray, fists blazing with aura. Molten energy burst from his strikes, spraying magma in every direction.

The Wild Beasts dodged nimbly, none daring to block the searing attacks head-on.

Old O roared in fury, memories of his lost arm flooding his mind.

"Zoldyck! One day, I'll storm Kukuroo Mountain and wipe you all out—every last one of you!"

His aura flared violently as he charged forward, magma exploding from his fists. The Wild Beasts scattered, preparing to counterattack.

The battle had begun.
