Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Resolve of Trallod

Trallod stood resolute, his heart heavy with the knowledge that his brother's rage would not be easily quelled. He knew that Helard was determined to prove his strength, but Trallod refused to let that turn into destruction. He couldn't bear the thought of harming his brother or the innocent lives in his realm.

"Everyone, stay back!" Trallod commanded, turning to his loyal subjects who were eager to defend their home. "This is my fight. I will handle it alone."

His subordinates exchanged worried glances but respected his decision. They understood that Trallod's connection to his brother was unlike any other, and perhaps, through this confrontation, peace could still be achieved.

With a powerful stomp of his foot, Trallod summoned the very essence of the earth. Massive walls of stone rose from the ground, creating a protective barrier that surrounded his city. The walls twisted and turned like a fortress, designed to absorb and redirect the flames that Helard would surely unleash.

On the other side, Prince Helard, fueled by anger and determination, watched as Trallod erected his defenses. He saw his brother's attempt to shield the city and the creatures within it, but that only ignited his fury further.

"Do you really think you can hide behind your walls?" Helard bellowed, his voice echoing through the valley. "I will burn everything you've built to the ground! You're too soft, Trallod! This isn't how a ruler should act!"

As Helard prepared to unleash a wave of flames, the intense heat he emitted rippled through the air. The ground around him cracked, and small fires erupted where his feet touched the earth. Prince Gust and Prince Wilord, who had been tending to their own affairs, felt the shift in the atmosphere and exchanged concerned looks.

"I can feel it," Gust said, squinting toward the horizon where the heat waves shimmered. "That's Helard's energy. He's furious."

Wilord nodded, his brow furrowed with worry. "He's going after Trallod. We have to intervene before it escalates!"

The two brothers, despite their own struggles for power, understood that family was at stake. They quickly made their way toward the source of the heat, determined to bring a sense of reason to the chaos that was about to unfold.

Back at the confrontation, Trallod took a deep breath, steadying himself. He needed to focus. With a calm mind, he addressed Helard, hoping to break through the walls of anger.

"Helard, listen to me!" Trallod shouted, his voice resonating with sincerity. "This isn't about power or strength. I chose freedom because it allows me to protect those I care about. If you destroy this place, you won't just hurt me—you'll hurt our family!"

But Helard's rage drowned out Trallod's words. "Family? You think this is about family? You abandoned us! You think you're better than me just because you have your little kingdom! I will show you the consequences of your actions!"

With that, Helard raised his arms, flames swirling around him, gathering into a massive fireball. The heat intensified, and the ground beneath him began to sizzle. He prepared to hurl it toward Trallod's defenses, determined to make a statement.

Trallod's heart raced. He knew that he needed to act quickly to protect his realm without retaliating. As Helard released the fiery projectile, Trallod focused his energy, summoning the stone walls to rise even higher, absorbing the force of the flames.

As the fireball collided with the stone walls, an explosion rocked the area, sending waves of heat and debris flying. But Trallod stood firm, channeling his power into the earth, reinforcing the barriers that safeguarded his city and its inhabitants.

"Trallod!" Helard shouted, frustration pouring from him as he saw his brother's resolve. "Why won't you fight back?"

"Because I won't hurt you!" Trallod shouted back, his voice steady despite the chaos. "I love you, brother. We can find a way to resolve this without bloodshed!"

Just then, Gust and Wilord arrived, their expressions a mix of determination and concern.

"What's happening?" Gust demanded, looking between the two brothers.

"He's trying to destroy everything!" Helard growled, pointing an accusing finger at Trallod. "He thinks he's better than us!"

"Helard, stop!" Wilord interjected, stepping forward. "This isn't what we need! You're letting your anger blind you! Trallod doesn't want the throne; he wants to protect his realm. Can't you see that?"

Trallod glanced at his brothers, hope flickering within him. Perhaps together, they could quell the flames of anger before they consumed Helard entirely.

"Please, Helard," Trallod pleaded again, his voice breaking slightly. "Let's talk. We're brothers; we can find a way to understand each other."

The air was thick with tension, and for a moment, everything stood still. The brothers stood at a crossroads, with the fate of their relationship hanging in the balance. Would Helard be able to see reason, or would the fire of rivalry continue to burn?
