Ongles

"I'm thinking we'll start you on Auror-level material while also working on simply increasing the number of spells you know and honing your skills with all magic you can perform," Moody said.

"Sounds like an idea to me," Harry said. He could see his days filling up in the future.

He would have to make sure that he didn't lose Neville and Hermione in the midst of everything else he wanted to do.

As Moody saw Harry leave his office for the day, he was strangely glad that he had accepted this position for the year despite everything that had gone wrong.

He would probably never have gotten this chance to get to know Harry otherwise.

He was a smart lad, and quick on his feet too. Moody smirked. This was going to be interesting.

After his run with Fleur that morning, Harry disappeared off to Diagon Alley to pick up the wands that he had commissioned from Ollivanders. He entered the little cramped store and the bell rang.

"Ah, my mystery customer returns," Ollivander said with a gleam in his eyes. "The wands are ready.

I will say that I have never commissioned a wand and then had it work for the person who asked for it. Wands simply do not seem to work that way."

"We'll see," Kato said.

Ollivander opened the box that held the ebony wand. "Thirteen and a half inches. Petrified Ebony and Jill feather," he said. "Well, go ahead. Try it out."

Kato placed his hand on the wand and lifted it out of the box. He remembered what it had felt like to grab the Holly and Phoenix feather wand that he had used for so long, but it didn't compare.

He lifted the wand and a thick rain of sparkles flowed out of the tip, like water almost. It was a beautiful sight to behold.

Ollivander gasped and he almost couldn't believe his eyes, but there it was.

The first wand he had made according to an order and it worked. It made him wonder if maybe young Mister Potter knew something about wand composition.

It had to be instinctual, but it could very well be why he had been so certain the wands would work.

"I will ask that you return to me with any other wand requests like these," Ollivander said. "And I very much want to know if Mister Longbottom has a similar reaction with his wand."

"I will remember to send you a note," Kato said. "Now how much do I pay for this?"

"Ten galleons total considering you provided the material and you promise to return should you ever need to make another wand with materials from that box of yours," Ollivander said.

"Deal," Kato said. He paid Ollivander and headed back to Hogwarts. Now he had all his gifts ready.

Once he got back he headed up to the common room and went up to his dorm. Thankfully everyone else was at breakfast so no one had noticed his absence.

He pulled his sword out from under his bed and linked the gem in the sword with the gem in the wand.

He sat down on the bed and merged the two. His sword was now his wand and vice versa.

Then he headed back down so he could grab some fruit from the tables in the Great Hall and join Hermione in her pursuit to finish the homework they had been given over the holiday.

24th of December, 1994.

Harry knocked on the door to the Beauxbatons' carriage. A guy opened it and let him inside.

Lucille smirked as she saw him. "Oh, didn't Fleur tell you," she said in French. "It is the night before the ball and everyone gets to paint their nails."

Harry didn't necessarily understand everything she said, but he could see that no one wanted anything to do with Lucille right then.

Most of the boys quickly disappeared into their rooms so they wouldn't have to be part of the night's activities.

Harry stayed through. He saw Fleur sitting with a small group of girls talking. As he understood it.

Fleur wasn't friends with any of these girls, but she also didn't hate them and not all of them disliked her.

There were a few, but they were underhanded enough that you didn't usually notice.

Harry walked over to her. "I hope you don't mind me joining you Mademoiselles," he said.

"Non, not at all," one of them said as she smiled brightly at him.

Harry sat down and Lucielle started talking to everyone. He didn't have a good enough understanding of French to keep up with her, but Fleur told him the gist of it.

"Now everyone pair up," Lucille said. "And Fleur you better pair up with your baby boyfriend. No one else wants the mess that he might produce."

"Was this a bad evening to come by?" Harry asked Fleur as they sat down facing each other. He had a girl each on either side of him and their partners framed Fleur.

"Depends on how you look at it," Fleur said slowly. She did her best to make sure that he could understand her.

"We will paint our ongles," she said as she pointed at her fingernails.

Harry nodded. "Got it," he said. He could live with that.

"Now for length and base colour," Lucille said. She had sat down with another group of girls and was still talking like they needed instructions.

Harry somehow doubted they did, but he guessed it made Lucille feel important and would shut her up for later.

She kept instructing people and Harry watched as the girls next to him started.

The one sitting to his right caught on to the fact that he certainly didn't know how to do this and started saying the spells.

Harry smiled at her and thanked her and she giggled and smiled back while answering that he was most welcome.

Harry looked at Fleur. "Just make my nails like you want yours to look," he said. "I'll copy you."
