Chapter 7 - Forward bound

He identified all his items one by one, not seeing anything noteworthy, except for one dagger.

[Sharpened dagger]

[Status: Perfect condition]

[Special effect: Creatures hit by this dagger bleed faster.]

"Why does this one have a special effect?" He asked Record.

"Some items were of higher quality than the others, this being one of them."

Reed nodded his head than opened up his traits panel and gazed at the ammo regeneration and bottomless magazine traits, then pulled the pistols information.

[Twin pistols]

[Status: Perfect condition]

[Ammo: (23) (22)]

"Can you tell me how [Ammo Regeneration] and [Bottomless Magazine] work together? Explain in detail if you can."

"Of course sir. [Ammo Regeneration] activates when there is enough space in the ammunition storage to accommodate more ammunition."

"The [Bottomless Magazine] trait makes it so that there is infinite space in the ammunition storage, so your ammunition will keep increasing with time, with no limit. It trait will affect all weapons that have an ammunition storage attached to it, such as guns and repeater crossbows. However it will not effect bow quivers or ammunition boxes."

"The [Ammo Regeneration] trait will regenerate ammo at a rate of 1 ammo per minute, regardless of what it may be, whenever there is space in the storage, as long as it is in contact with your body, or is inside your storage, or or is in a location that you own. This trait will only affect your own items, be they yours temporarily or not, same for the [Bottomless Magazine]."

"Both traits will activate if your holding something that matches the requirement in you hands, though you may choose for them to not take effect on anything you don't want them to."

Reed thinks about the information given to him silently. Then he navigates to the traits tab and selects the [Bind] trait.

[Select the item to bind]

Without hesitating, he selects the twin pistols.

[Are you sure?]

"Yes I am." He murmurs softly and confirms.

The pistols start to glow softly, before turning into streams of light and merging into his body.

A few seconds later, they materialize into his hands and a panel pops up in his view.

[Twin pistols] (Soul-Bound) [Tier 3]

[Status: Perfect condition]

[Ammo: (27) (26)]

"Record."

"Sir?"

"How much more exp than normal will I need to level up?"

"You will require an additional 30% to the normal amount."

"Just 30%? I expected it to be higher, but that's already quite a bit especially in the later stages."

'Other than these I don't think I have any need for binding any more items in the near future. Best to keep these as a secret weapon.'

He dematerialized the guns and cast one last look at his items, equipping all the armor as he prepared to leave.

"Is there anything else I should or can know about before entering the world?" He asked. "Tell me now."

"Once you have arrived, you will receive a few items to make life slightly easier for you."

"Okay, anything else?"

"No more."

"Well then, let's get going." He reached forward and pressed the button.

...

'The road is paved, meaning it's well travelled.' Reed looks both directions the road leads, and opens his map.

'I'm slightly to the east of my chosen location.' He remarks to himself, as he starts walking west.

'It does make sense, suddenly teleporting into the middle of a city sounds like asking to be arrested. not to mention any potential panic caused by unknown armed people suddenly appearing in a crowded area.'

The location Reed had chosen to enter was to the north-eastern part of the central landmass, as it seemed that there was more unexplored land in the area.

'I just hope there is a dungeon nearby.'

Dungeons, as Record had put it, were created by the system to help all seeking strength get stronger. Each one filled with monsters, traps and puzzles. But the more dangerous the dungeon, the better the rewards.

Reed walked for 10 minutes before he came into sight of the city. He immediately put away the helmet he was wearing, and continued to walk forward.

There were a few people standing in line at the cities gate waiting to enter, and he silently joined them.

When his turn came he walked forward, and quietly handed over a silver coin that he produced from his pocket.

The guard's face was hidden by his helmet, but Reed could tell he was confused.

"You're not an adventurer?" He asked in a gruff voice, and Reed could tell he was glancing at his armor.

"Not yet." Reed gave a short response.

"I see." The guard nodded. "Mind if I search you?"

"Go ahead." The guard briskly ran his hands across Reed's body, then nodded again.

"Take the third right, the guild's down the street to the left."

"Thank you."

"Don't get yourself killed." The guard waved him forward.

...

Once he entered the guild, he immediately noted three things.

1. The people inside were all armed.

2. There was a manned desk to his left, and

3. The guild had a restaurant, and he was hungry.

'But food can wait.' He thought as he walked over to who he presumed was the receptionist.

"Good Afternoon, how may I help you?" The woman spoke.

"I want to register as an adventurer." Reed spoke, straight to the point.

The woman opened a drawer and pulled out a form.

"Please pay a fee of 1 gold to register."

Reed reached into his pocket and pulled out a gold coin and handed it over. The woman took it and slid the form over.

"Please fill in this form."

Reed took a moment to read it, then he asked for a pen.

Name? Relevance Reed.

Magic? None.

Fighting ability? Some.

Malicious intent towards the kingdom? No.

Fighting type? Swordsman.

He handed the form back to the woman who took it and placed it over a black ball on a small pedestal on the leftmost corner of the table.

The form and ball glowed for a moment before the form disappeared.

"Please place your hand on top." She spoke, gesturing to the ball.

As soon as his hand was rested comfortably on top, the ball started to glow white, and suddenly a blue panel appeared above it, which just as quickly disappeared.

When the glow subsided, there was a card in his hand.

"Would you like me to tell you all about an adventurer's card?" The woman asked him. and Reed gestured with his hand for her to continue, while still observing the card.
