Chapter 9 - The dungeon of D'ram

The next morning, Reed was on the path towards the dungeon, playing around with the mana flowing through his body.

If the mana were to be visible, it would appear as a white wisp moving erratically through his body, with another wisp centred in his chest.

[Name: Relevant Reed Record] [Tier 3] [Level 1]

[STR: B AGI: B SPI: S VIT: S INT: S]

His strength and agility had not increased due to the fact that he was just condensing mana, and not refining his body, which was the second stage of mana strengthening.

Apart from his body, another thing had undergone a significant change.

[Twin Pistols] [Tier 4]

[Status: Perfect condition]

[Ammo: (1221) (1220)]

The fact that the pistols had also upgraded a tier was a bit shocking, but a very welcome fact, especially since Record confirmed that the bullets inside had also been upgraded to match the weapon.

This meant that even if he came across a difficult opponent, he could use the guns to damage them from afar.

Reed was now dressed in local fashion, having purchased the clothes last night, in order to not give away his identity as a player to other players.

He was still wearing his armour, except for his helmet. Also, he now wore a belt with two sword holders, with he put his sabres in, along with a few bags hooked to the belt, all to avoid suspicion of his storage ability.

It took him another 20 minutes to reach the dungeon.

The dungeon was a semi-circular stone building with a diameter of 10 meters, and a height of 20. The entrance of the dungeon was an arch with a height of 18 meters, and a width of 8.

The inside of the arch was pitch black, with no way to tell what was present on the other side.

Outside the dungeon, were 2 hawkers, selling medicine and weapons, and a few adventurers preparing to enter the dungeon.

Reed ignored all of them, and marched straight into the arch.

...

Suddenly, he was in a cave, illuminated by glowing yellow and white stones embedded in the walls.

The roof of the cave was 4 meters from the top of his head, and the walls were 6-7 meters apart.

Wearing the helmet and with swords in hand, he walked forward through the twisting cave, looking for any signs of life.

Less than a minute later, he came across a duo of goblins carrying small spears, standing guard at a fork in the cave.

[Goblin] [Level 1]

'Let's see what I can do.' Reed picked up a rock, took aim, and launched it at one of them, then charged towards the other.

The rock connected solidly with the goblin's face, and it hit the wall behind it and slumped onto the ground.

The other made a sound of surprise when the rock struck, then it heard Reed's footsteps and turned around to face the intruder.

It raised it's spear to defend, but Reed swatted the spear sway with the blade in his left, and slashed at it's throat with the one in his right, once it's neck was cut open, Reed quickly fell back and looked at the still-slumped goblin.

A second later, the bleeding goblin fell face-first onto the ground, and Reed could see blood pooling beneath it. he walked towards the first goblin, summoned a knife and threw it into it's stomach.

When it did not even twitch, he bent down and pulled it out, wiping the blade on the cloth wore by the goblin.

He then cleaned his swords the same way before heading to the unguarded way.

Another minute later, he found more goblins, these ones were armed with knives, and were just sitting around.

'Six of them, should I do it?' Reed pondered, looking at a goblin that was carving into the wall with it's knife.

'I need to get used to this.' He breathed deeply, then started walking towards them openly, alerting them to his presence.

The closest one let a shout, and charged towards him, followed by the rest.

Reed took a defensive stance, and when the it was within reach, he lunged forward, surprising it, and thrust deeply into it's neck.

He pulled back, cutting open the left side of it's neck as it fell backwards, blocking the second one's attack, then pushed it back just in time to parry an attack from the left and follow up with another slash, cutting another throat open as blood began to spill.

The rest of them had stopped, so Reed moved towards them as one of his swords disappeared, and he held the other with both arms.

With his great strength, the goblin he was targeting had no chance to defend itself, and his sword swept across it's abdomen.

Similarly, the rest of the goblins were quickly dispatched in single sweep of his blade.

"Foooo... hehe." 'My first real battle, I feel great!'

There was a smile adorning his face, as he looked at the corpses in front of him.

...

After cleaning his swords and making his way back, he entered the guarded path. Which led to more goblins, but this time, there was a door on the other side of the room.

Reed sheathed his swords and summoned his guns with the intention of testing their destructive capability.

He aimed at the abdomen of closest goblin, and fired.

BOOM!!

With the closed environment of the cave amplifying and echoing the noise, the sound was very loud, as even with the helmet muffling the sound, Reed winced as the goblin's head and arms flew away as it's torse simply disappeared.

The other goblins also grabbed their ears and let out shrieking sounds of discomfort.

'Ugh! Too loud, best to get this done fast.' Reed shot another 9 times, before pressing his fingers into his ears to dull some of the sound.

'Damn indoor environment! Note to self, refrain from using the pistols in cave systems.'

After a moment, he walked to the door, and put his hand on it.

As soon as he did, it opened up, revealing a large room with a human sized goblin with a sword standing in the middle of it.

[Goblin] [Level 5]

Behind the goblin, was an arch of the same design as the dungeon entrance.

Reed glanced at the large goblin, who snarled and charged towards him.

"Bad luck for you." He spoke aloud, as he took aim.
