The smoke still lingered in the air, mixing with the distant echoes of battle from deeper within the island. The auction house was in shambles collapsed walls, broken stalls, and bodies of pirates and nobles scattered everywhere. Blood stained the floor, the scent of destruction heavy in the air.
Yuji stood at the center of the wreckage, his back turned to the chaos. His crew had gathered near the exit, waiting for his signal.
"It's time to leave," Yuji said, his voice calm but absolute.
Everyone obeyed without question. Hancock flipped her hair with a scoff, Bepo adjusted his fur anxiously, and Law, though still staring in the direction Diamante had escaped, finally turned away. Kisame stood beside them, watching Yuji closely.
But just as Yuji took a step forward, flames erupted from his back.
A golden inferno burst forth, twisting and roaring as it spread across the auction house like a wildfire. The flames consumed the ruined stalls, engulfed the bloodstained floor, and devoured the structure itself.
Within seconds, the entire auction house was ablaze.
The flames reflected in Kisame's sharp eyes.
He smirked. "Looks like my gamble was right."
With that, the crew walked away from the burning ruin, disappearing into the darkness of the island.
The ship swayed gently as it rocked against the waves. The salty sea breeze replaced the stench of blood and fire. The chaos of Axis Island was now behind them.
Yuji stood on the deck, arms crossed, watching as everyone gathered around. He lifted a hand and pointed at Kisame.
"So, everyone, here's our new crew member," he announced.
Kisame stepped forward, his muscular arms crossed over his chest, his shark-like grincnever leaving his face.
"I'm Kisame Hoshigaki," he introduced himself. His deep voice carried a feral edge, like that of a predator. "Take care of me from now on."
Bepo, standing beside Law, hesitated before taking a step forward.
"Ah… um, welcome to the crew!" Bepo said with a nervous smile. "I-I'm Bepo!"
Kisame looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "You're a talking bear."
Bepo immediately deflated. His ears drooped, and he hung his head. "I-I'm sorry for being a talking bear…"
Kisame blinked. "What?"
Law sighed. "Don't worry about it. He does that a lot."
Bepo sniffled. "I do…"
Hancock stepped forward, looking Kisame up and down with her usual arrogance. "Hmph. A fishman joining our ranks? You better not be too troublesome."
Kisame grinned wider. "Oh, I'm nothing but trouble, lady."
Hancock immediately scowled and turned away. "Disgusting."
Yuji chuckled. "Alright, alright, let's not start fights before we even set sail."
Once introductions were done, Yuji leaned against the mast and gave Kisame a serious look.
"So, tell me," Yuji said. "You're strong. How did they manage to capture you?"
The mood shifted.
Kisame's smirk faded, and his sharp eyes became cold.
For a moment, he didn't answer.
Then, with a sigh, he ran a hand through his wild blue hair. "It was years ago. The Donquixote Pirates caught me. I don't know if it was luck or if they were specifically hunting me, but they took me down. Chained me up. Sold me to the World Government."
Hancock's posture stiffened.
"The World Government?" Law echoed, his brows furrowing.
Kisame nodded. "Yeah. The bastards experimented on me."
A heavy silence followed.
Kisame's grin returned, but this time, it was a hollow one. "They used me as a guinea pig. Their goal was to make me a monster. Well…" He gestured to himself. "Guess they got what they wanted."
Bepo looked horrified. "That's… awful."
Hancock crossed her arms. "Typical of the World Government. They treat anyone beneath them as things to be used."
Yuji's eyes darkened. "How long?"
Kisame let out a low chuckle. "Years. At first, they were obsessed with my Fish-Man Karate. Then they started injecting me with things, trying to see if I'd mutate. Didn't work. Eventually, they got bored."
His shark like grin twisted into something darker.
"So they sold me back to the Donquixote Pirates. And there I was…back in a damn cage"
Law clenched his fists.
Hancock's jaw tightened.
Yuji, however, just nodded. His expression unreadable. "And now?"
Kisame looked at him, tilting his head. "What do you mean?"
Yuji smirked. "What do you want now, Kisame?"
Kisame grinned, his teeth flashing under the moonlight.
"I want to burn the ones who did this to me. I want to crush them, tear them apart, and laugh while doing it."
Bepo gulped.
Hancock rolled her eyes. "Hmph. At least you have a clear goal."
Law sighed and rubbed his temples. "This crew keeps getting more insane by the day."
Yuji chuckled. "Good. We need monsters iif we're going to change this world."
Kisame laughed. "Then you got the right guy, captain."
The ship rocked gently against the waves, carrying them further away from Axis Island. The flames of the auction house still burned in the distance.
