...…Weeks ago....
The airport was crowded. It seems to be a particularly busy day with people walked in and out with their luggage training behind them. The footsteps and the voices of people pressing themselves on either side of the airplane filled in the air.
Even though in haste, no one fail to send a quick glance to the out of place couple standing in the middle of the way. The man, tall and dressed in a simple pair of black jean and white t shirt with a burgundy zip bloomer on which he left open.
The girl accompanying him was equally tall but didn't reach the man shoulders. Her simple white long sleeves top which she tucked in her mine black skirt accentuated her tour de rein waistline. She paired it with a thigh level black boots.
The two seem to be impatiently waiting for someone. The man kept on glancing at the passenger exit door. The person plane they were waiting should have land thirty minute earlier but yet no sign of the person.
"Why isn't she here already?" Liam anxiously asked.
He kept on looking at the exit door for the passenger in search of someone but he couldn't find her and the people blocking his sight was irritating. He wasn't used to public transport.
"May be she decided not to come anymore..." he mumbled.
He tiptoed to have more visibility. He was already taller than the average, adding some centimeter to his height wasn't of great help. Yet with all his effort, his eye didn't lay on the person he wanted to see. He frowned.
"Calmed down will you?" Shirley said dragging him down to his feet while holding his arm.
"Why won't she come?" she shook her head. It was fun to see him anxious. He was always so confident. The helpless Liam had his charm on her.
"She must be taking her luggage, you know how it is." she cracked a smile.
Liam breathed in and smiled, she was always able to put sense into him. She was right, he had no reason to be anxious about. He patted her hand holding his arm.
"What did she even decided to take public transport when she could have come with her private jet," he wondered. His eyes still searching for her among the crowd.
Shirley shrugged of her shoulder, she was also wondering the same thing. The person she knew wasn't the type to do so. She wondered what more changes had occurred during her three years of absence.
"Is my eyes playing game on me or is it the ceo of Black enterprise that I'm seeing," they heard a voice of a lady.
Liam could recognize the voice out of thousand. It was no one other than his best friend and the person he was anxiously waiting for. He turned and to no one surprise, it was really her, Ivy.
He ran to her and pulled her in a hug. He swallowed her with his big body, pressing her against his body.
"I can't breathe," Ivy tapped his shoulder.
"Sorry," he said and broke the hug.
"It's all your faults, why did you have to make me miss you so much?" he said and pulled her in another hug. Gentler this time.
Ivy smiled and pressed her body on to his, enjoying his warm, taking in his scent. Enjoying the feeling of having her body in contact with his. Her heart, bouncing of happiness, was the only thing she could hear. Time stopped around them, they were the only one that existed.
'I love him so much' her heart wanted to scream and shout.
She once again pressed their body tighter if it was even possible. She wanted to enjoy it to it fullness before it ends. It has being long see they got to see each other.
"I miss you too," she said.
"Liar!!" Liam broke the hug.
"If you really do, you won't have gone away leaving me alone," he complained like a spoil kid.
Up to till date, he never understood what happen. A moment they were all good and the next, they are announce she travelled abroad. Like she was running from something or someone.
A rumor began to circulate. It was said, she committed a crime, thus, her sudden escape. He didn't believes it at first because if it was the case, she would have told him about it. As time passes, he started to doubt his assurance. She never putted a feet back since she left. For three years she didn't return, not even once.
Ivy remained silent and stared at the electric blue eyes that always made her feel weird, who have her feel butterfly in her stomach. Eyes always making her go crazy. He was as handsome as she remembered, no, he got more handsome. His signature cut on his left eyebrow was still there. His black hair was dressed in a fade hairstyle, way shorter than he used to put them.
'Now he couldn't run his hand through them went anxious' the thought made her giggled.
He used to shave his beard off in the past but now he dressed them in a short stubble. As she superpose the old version of Liam of three years ago she felt nostalgic. He didn't change much, but mature instead. His aura was making her fall for him all over again.
'If only you knew, you are the one I was running from' she thought but she could never say that. She always kept her love for him to herself, saying nothing of it. She always thought they did end up together in the end but it just never happen.
"You didn't even visit me even once," he continued.
"And we can count the number of time you came to give me a visit," she counteracted.
When she left years ago, it was the worst moment for Black enterprise as Liam's father got in to an accident. Liam was force to take the lead earlier than planned, he didn't has time to visit her. She understood but said to stop him for asking too many questions.
"Plead guilty." he raised his hands, giving up.
"I'm happy you are back." he shoved his hand on her shoulder, pulling her closer to him. Like he used to do.
"I finally got back my basketball buddy. Andy isn't fun to watch basketball with …" he continued but the rest didn't get in her ears.
'Buddy…it seems as nothing change, I'm still the best friend. What else was I expecting' she mocked herself to be so delusional.
Hoped maybe during all these years his feelings for her would have evolved into something else but it wasn't the case. How could he? When he was madly in love with someone else.
"…and Shirley knows nothing about basketball." His last words got her attention and just like a magic spell who got broken, she finally saw Shirley who was standing a distant away from them.
Shirley waved at her with a big smile on her face. Her golden long hair cascaded on her shoulder with few strand falling on her face which she gently tucked away. Her blue eyes look at her with what Ivy took as happiness? Why will she be happy to see her? They both dislike each other. It was a known fact among the girls.
Just like that, with just a sight of her made all the hatred and jealousy Ivy felt burst out from the bottle she tried to put it in during those three years. She thought she had long passed those feelings but seeing her again after years, she had the desire to murder. She was the one who stole the love of her life. The only man she ever love was took away by the person she once considered as friend. For all the twenty five years she have live, she has never hated some as she did of Liam's girlfriend.
