Using all the self control she possessed, she forced herself to ignore them, looking everywhere but them. She bottle her urge to pulled them apart, gripping her bag handle with enough pressure to break a glass.
"Let's go," Liam said. Ending her torment.
She loosed the hold on her bag, her facial features coming back to life.
Ivy nodded, she gave a smile to Shirley before following Liam who kept on sending quick glance on Shirley. Worries not leaving him. Little guilt of leaving her in profit of Ivy weighed on his heart.
The exited the airplane and met the stairs.
"Where is Mike?" Ivy asked seeing Liam's black Benz but no one beside it.
"Why are you carrying it? Why is Mike not coming to get it?" She said when he carried her luggage down the stairs.
"He is not here," he answered walking down the stairs, the luggage in his hands.
"You fired him? I liked Mike!" she asked, walked behind him.
Mike was Liam's chauffeur since he began to works at black enterprise.
"I didn't. Just gave him a day off,"
"Who will be driving then?" she asked standing by the car.
Liam gave her a quick glance, with no answers he went to the car back. Putting the luggage in.
"You are driving?" she asked while he put her luggage in the car.
He close the it and walked to her. He opened the passenger front door, "what do you think?" he asked closing the door behind her. He took place in the passenger seat.
"Why?" she asked.
"Today I will be your knight milady," he said putting on his belt.
He started the car with his eyes on his phone, held in his left hand. He had a worry expression on his face as he stare at his phone.
She didn't have to be a witch to know what was troubling him.
"She will be ok. You worry for nothing," she said putting her own belt.
"Sure I am," he tried to play it cool but she saw in through her act. She left out a sigh,
"At least if you are going to be my knight do with a smile. It's as if I'm forcing you. You could have stay with her and let me go by myself instead of being here unwillingly,"
"Who said I was unwilling?" he turned to her.
"Your face," she pointed it out.
He smile and dropped his phone, "I begged uncle to be able to drive you home. I'm just concerned about Shirley," it was a big deal to convince her father to let him be the one to welcome her at the airport. I
"I know but it's nothing serious. So give me a be smile or I'm out of this car in a minute," she declared.
"Okay!" he smile softly.
"Better!" she exclaimed which made Liam smile grow bigger.
"I missed you so much," he started the car and put on music.
"Me too," she said.
"This is one of my favorite songs!!" she exclaimed all excited.
"You remember," she sent him a gentle look with a soft smile.
"How can I forget? You made me listen to it so many times that it is as if I wrote it. I know all the words," he couldn't count the number of time he listen to it. He always wondered how someone could listen to the same song again and again without being bore.
The song play was: Queens
Ivy started to sing and Liam followed her soon after with his awful voice with no care. Neither of them was singing right and no one minded. He could still remember went Andy and him was force to sing it with her, they both now knows it like the palm of their hands.
Cross my heart and hope to die,
I don't need another guy to fight my battles, to over shadow me,
Don't you know I'm dangerous,
Fire burning in my blood,
I'm not an angel cause I belong to me,
You may call me a princess as you like, cus you want to keep me helpless by your side, but I'll show you,
How to treat me like a queen…
The music goes on, and they continued to sing. This song helped her to decide to let go of Liam, to let go of the useless battle. She could do just fine without a man. She was a queen.
It didn't stop her to love him but it made her take the right decision. Being his friend is sufficient, it had to be sufficient…
They soon arrived at Ivy house.
"Her highness was successful brought home," Liam said as he stationed in front of the grey gate waiting for them to open it.
Nostalgic took Ivy as her eyes landed on the big house in front of her who was way too big for three person. She was the only child to her parent.
Home…no matter where you are, whether in the most beautiful place, nothing hit like home. Only the sight of it gave her some peace, she breathed in, it felt good to be home.
"Your highness?" she asked. Now realizing what he said.
"Of course." he nodded to himself.
"You are a queen now. A well know business woman. You are all over the business News, all talking about your return. You made a name for yourself just like you wanted," he said as he drive in the house.
They were greeted by a splendid garden that surrounded the big house in the middle, not to say a mansion. The fountains and the diverse flowers brought a touch of fairy to the place. It was colorful and well taken care of. Ivy's mother was fond of plants and the house was design for her.
She left for three years and during this time she didn't relax. She engulfed herself with work and started her own company. She always wish to start her own company, to show her worth, to not be known only as the daughter of the great Karl Stone. There were also fear, a fear of not inheriting the family business even though being the sole hire of her father. Apart from her parents, all the rest of the family members, particularly her grandparents was against the idea of her taking the lead after her father.
Since she couldn't take over the family business, why not create hers and it just what she did. It didn't worth billions but everyone was surprised by the rate at which it was growing, in some years, they were sure, it will be able to challenge the big firms.
Since she was back in her mother land she decided to relocate her company there. She didn't want to always be in between two plane and she has no desire to settle in another country, going there was just an escape not a dream. She was more famous abroad and has to start it all over in her country and it will take time for her to gain the level of influence she had abroad but she wasn't worried.
"Maybe but there is someone who no matter how I grow will always see me as a baby." she smiled.
As they approached the house they took notice of the couple standing in front of the house. The man was impatiently hitting his feet on the ground with his arms fault in front of him and a frown on his face. The woman was more relax with a smile on her face, she was saying something to the man beside her who seem not to care.
Liam and Ivy looked at each other and shared a meaningful glance.
Speaking of the devil, they thought. The said devil was the man who loves her the most. No competition needed. The man who could kill, if it was to make her smile.
