Romano's POV
"You need to loosen up!" Luca said, pushing a drink to my direction
"I am here for business" I eyed him, my voice stern
Luca is my caporegime a.k.a Captain of operations. He oversees certain operations and reports to either Danté who is my second, or to me.
Luca, Danté and I have been close friends for years now. Luca also worked in my company and had a loud mouth. He was mostly in France though.
"And I'm here to enjoy myself while working, Boss. Right, Danté?" Luca asked Danté who was on his phone. He's been on his phone ever since we took a ride down to this place.
"Jadelyn is worried about you. Dimitri said she's been asking about you" Danté said, tucking his phone into his pocket
The sound of her name made my body go rigid. I had been avoiding her for quite some time because I ... I didn't even have a good reason but I just didn't want to be close to her for a while.
"I don't care" Ignoring Danté and Luca's sly smile, I downed the content of the drink.
"He doesn't care" Luca laughed, more like mocked me.
"You're running away from her because you're starting to feel, isn't it?" Danté eyed me suspiciously.
"Can we just keep our eyes and ears on the ground and get over with this?"
The only reason I'm here in this bar is because I want to finalize a deal with a French drug dealer. I've been hearing dirty news about him and I want to set things straight because this is my city!
"Like I said, loosen up" With that, Luca beckoned on few ladies and they rushed down to our table. "Help him out"
What?
I glared daggers at the ladies but that didn't faze them at all. They acted like they were used to those kind of looks and just went on to trailing their hands on my body.
"I need to put this on camera. Danté give me your phone!" Luca laughed, dragging Danté's phone from him.
Danté sat still, laughing at my misery. On a normal day, I would've brought out my gun and scared them away but then I wanted to also prove to these guys that my head is still in the game and Jadelyn isn't making me soft or anything.
I was also trying to convince myself too.
"Would you like to go to the red room, baby?" One of the sluts whispered in my ear, her hand sneaking into my shirt.
Another cupped my cock in her hand, while the last slut rubbed on my head which she kept on her breast.
This was supposed to be all fun but I wasn't feeling it. My chest panged with .... Guilt? I was somehow feeling guilty. I felt like I was betraying someone
"Get away from me" I growled calmly. The ladies heard but acted oblivious as they were so invested in what they were doing. "I said, get the fuck away from me!"
They quickly stood up and rushed out of our sight. Luca and Danté shared a look before bursting into laughter
"I'm happy you find this entertaining" i shot them a cold glare
"He's finished" Luca told Danté who nodded in agreement.
Danté wasn't one who liked to talk much. He was a bit more reserved. He only talked when he was in a very good mood and when necessary and maybe when he just wants to be goofy. Also when the lady is pretty and he's trying to get her in his bed.
"He's here" Danté said, his expression back to work default.
I adjusted in my seat, my jaw tightened. "Took you so long" I said, when Francisco sat down.
"Sorry I couldn't keep the ladies waiting" Francisco cleaned the corner of my mouth, his French accent strong as fuck.
"You kept us waiting just because you wanted to settle your horny ass?" Luca growled, hitting his fist on the table.
One thing I loved about my men was that they knew when to be serious and when to be playful.
"You see, I..."
"Shut up!" I said, cutting Francisco off as I picked up my phone. The security alarm on my phone blared alerting me that something was wrong.
What have you done this time, Jadelyn. I wondered.
"Dark night bar?" I murmured to myself when I noticed Jadelyn's location. "Check Fiona's location, Danté"
She wouldn't be able to leave the house by herself. My men wouldn't let that happen. Well, except she was now invincible.
"Fiona?.. I... Okay, I will"
Danté had no idea that I knew he tracked Fiona's movement like an overprotective boyfriend. I didn't complain because I knew it was for her safety.
As if on cue, Dimitri call came in. Danté and Luca were alert, their eyes trained on me. "Speak" I growled into the phone.
"Jadelyn disappeared" That was all it took for me to jump up from my chair, almost knocking out Francisco with the way my hand swung. "Handle Francisco, Luca"
"Where are you going man?" Danté asked, following me out immediately.
"To fucking teach some mother fucker not to touch what's mine" I growled as I ordered my driver to move to the backseat.
What if I was out of the state?
"I'll go with you. Fiona is there" Not wanting to argue with him, I allowed him to enter before I drove off.
In less than 30 minutes, we arrived at the club. That took breaking of road rules and traffic regulations. I was going to handle the cops later. They knew better not to tail my car.
"Where's she?" Tugging Dimitri's shirt, I asked. I didn't even let him give me an answer before throwing him out of my view.
"According to the CCTV footage, she last entered the male toilet" Dimitri said from behind me.
That fucking lady!
I didn't want to cause a commotion and so I just looked around calmly. My men were now scattered everywhere.
"Speak" I tapped on my earpod, accepting the incoming call. "Send me your location. I'm at your back" Without wasting much time, I ran out of the bar, knocking off anyone that stood by my way, without any care in the world.
In my how many years as a Don, no one has ever put me through much stress like this. I promised myself that I was going to deal with Jadelyn.
"Call Cop Silver" I said to the mini computer in the car. "There's a van coming up the highway. Delay it"
"Yes Boss!" She said, hanging up immediately.
I pushed the pedal furiously, my gaze focused. I blared my horn at every incoming and obstructive vehicle.
"Got you, mother fucker" Whining down my glass, I pushed my head outside and shot at the tire of the van. We were a few miles away from the checkpoint.
The sound of gunshots made passer-by scream and run around, looking for shelter
"Fucking hell!" I yelled when a bullet grazed my windscreen. Furiously, I pushed my head outside, firing the second tire. The car came to a halt. "Let's finish this"
Of course, they didn't give up as they fired relentlessly at my car. I opened my door, using it as a shield to protect myself from their bullets. I'd raise my head up to fire at them and vice versa.
"Urghh!" I groaned when a bullet grazed my shoulder. "You're all dead" with determination, I fired at them, not missing any single person.
"Please don't kill me!" A young boy yelled, dropping his gun down. Smirking, I walked up to him, my eyes wandered to the dead men on the ground. I fired each of them three shots before turning to the boy. He looked 19 years old or thereabout.
"Who's your Boss?"
"I don't fucking know. I was just given an order like the others by the underboss, Giovanni. That's all I know!" He cried.
"Follow me." I nodded, my gun still pointed at him. "Bring her out"
"What?"
"Bring out my Fianceé!" I growled, shooting at the empty space.
"I will! I will!" He fumbled with the keys, before unlocking the giant padlock.
My heart squeezed at the sight of Jadelyn being tied up like a thief.
Only I get to tie her up!
"Get out and you fucking don't run because see those cars coming? It has my men in it. They'll kill you" Tucking the gun in my pocket, I climbed into the van and carried Jadelyn bridal style. She was so feeble.
"Boss! What do we do with him?" Dimitri asked, holding the boy.
"To send a fucking message" Holding Jadelyn close to me, I walked with speed towards the car. Thank God, she wasn't bruised.
"Sjjnwnfjr" Jadelyn mumbled something when i tucked her into the backseat. I pulled off the mouth gag, eager to hear what she had to say.
"What was it that you said?" I asked, watching her as she battled to keep her eyes open.
"My husband will fucking kill you all for touching me"
Damn right!
